תהילים 123

1 שיר המעלות אליך נשאתי את-עיני-- הישבי בשמים

A Song of Ascents. Unto thee, have I lifted up mine eyes, O thou who art enthroned in the heavens.

2 הנה כעיני עבדים אל-יד אדוניהם-- כעיני שפחה אל-יד גברתה כן עינינו אל-יהוה אלהינו-- עד שיחננו

Lo! as the eyes of men-servants are unto the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid-servant, unto the hand of her mistress, so, are our eyes, unto Yahweh our God, until that he show us favour.

3 חננו יהוה חננו כי-רב שבענו בוז

Show us favour, O Yahweh, show us favour, for, exceedingly, are we sated with contempt:

4 רבת שבעה-לה נפשנו הלעג השאננים הבוז לגאיונים (לגאי יונים)

Exceeding sated therewith, is our soul, —The scorn of the careless, The contempt of the proud.
