תהילים 1

1 אשרי האיש-- אשר לא הלך בעצת רשעים ובדרך חטאים לא עמד ובמושב לצים לא ישב

Blessed is the one who doesn't follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path of sinners, or join in with scoffers.

2 כי אם בתורת יהוה חפצו ובתורתו יהגה יומם ולילה

But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 והיה-- כעץ שתול על-פלגי-מים אשר פריו יתן בעתו--ועלהו לא-יבול וכל אשר-יעשה יצליח

He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper.

4 לא-כן הרשעים כי אם-כמץ אשר-תדפנו רוח

Not so with the wicked; instead, they are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

5 על-כן לא-יקמו רשעים--במשפט וחטאים בעדת צדיקים

Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 כי-יודע יהוה דרך צדיקים ודרך רשעים תאבד

For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.
