יהושע 21

1 ויגשו ראשי אבות הלוים אל אלעזר הכהן ואל יהושע בן נון ואל ראשי אבות המטות לבני ישראל

Then came near the heads of the divisions of the Levites unto Elazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the divisions of the tribes of the children of Israel;

2 וידברו אליהם בשלה בארץ כנען לאמר יהוה צוה ביד משה לתת לנו ערים לשבת ומגרשיהן לבהמתנו

And they spoke unto them at Shiloh, in the land of Canaan, saying, The Lord commanded by the hand of Moses to give unto us cities to dwell in, with the open spaces thereof for our cattle.

3 ויתנו בני ישראל ללוים מנחלתם אל פי יהוה את הערים האלה ואת מגרשיהן

And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites from their inheritance, at the order of the Lord, these cities and their open spaces.

4 ויצא הגורל למשפחת הקהתי ויהי לבני אהרן הכהן מן הלוים ממטה יהודה וממטה השמעני וממטה בנימן בגורל--ערים שלש עשרה

And the lot came out for the families of the Kehathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, obtained from the tribe of Judah, and from the tribe of Simeon, and from the tribe of Benjamin, by lot, thirteen cities.

5 ולבני קהת הנותרים ממשפחת מטה אפרים וממטה דן ומחצי מטה מנשה בגורל--ערים עשר

And the rest of the children of Kehath obtained from the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and from the tribe of Dan, and from the half tribe of Menasseh, by lot, ten cities.

6 ולבני גרשון ממשפחות מטה יששכר וממטה אשר וממטה נפתלי ומחצי מטה מנשה בבשן בגורל--ערים שלש עשרה

And the children of Gershon obtained from the families of the tribe of Issachar, and from the tribe of Asher, and from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the half tribe of Menasseh in Bashan, by lot, thirteen cities.

7 לבני מררי למשפחתם ממטה ראובן וממטה גד וממטה זבולן--ערים שתים עשרה

The children of Merari after their families obtained from the tribe of Reuben, and from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

8 ויתנו בני ישראל ללוים את הערים האלה ואת מגרשיהן כאשר צוה יהוה ביד משה בגורל

And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites these cities with their open spaces, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, by lot.

9 ויתנו ממטה בני יהודה וממטה בני שמעון--את הערים האלה אשר יקרא אתהן בשם

And they gave from the tribe of the children of Judah, and from the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are called by name.

10 ויהי לבני אהרן ממשפחות הקהתי מבני לוי כי להם היה הגורל ראישנה

And the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kehathites, of the children of Levi, obtained them; —for they had the first lot.

11 ויתנו להם את קרית ארבע אבי הענוק היא חברון--בהר יהודה ואת מגרשה סביבתיה

And they gave unto them Kiryath-arba', [the father of 'Anak, ] which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah, with the open spaces thereof round about it;

12 ואת שדה העיר ואת חצריה נתנו לכלב בן יפנה באחזתו

But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb the son of Yephunneh for his possession.

13 ולבני אהרן הכהן נתנו את עיר מקלט הרצח--את חברון ואת מגרשה ואת לבנה ואת מגרשה

And to the children of Aaron the priest they gave the city of refuge for the manslayer, Hebron with its open spaces, and Libnah with its open spaces,

14 ואת יתר ואת מגרשה ואת אשתמע ואת מגרשה

And Yattir with its open spaces, and Eshtemoa' with its open spaces.

15 ואת חלן ואת מגרשה ואת דבר ואת מגרשה

And Cholon with its open spaces, and Debir with its open spaces,

16 ואת עין ואת מגרשה ואת יטה ואת מגרשה את בית שמש ואת מגרשה ערים תשע--מאת שני השבטים האלה

And 'Ayin with its open spaces, and Yuttah with its open spaces, and Beth-shemesh with its open spaces: nine cities from those two tribes.

17 וממטה בנימין את גבעון ואת מגרשה את גבע ואת מגרשה

And from the tribe of Benjamin, Gib'on with its open spaces, Geba' with its open spaces,

18 את ענתות ואת מגרשה ואת עלמון ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע

'Anathoth with its open spaces, and 'Almon with its open spaces: four cities.

19 כל ערי בני אהרן הכהנים--שלש עשרה ערים ומגרשיהן

All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their open spaces.

20 ולמשפחות בני קהת הלוים הנותרים מבני קהת ויהי ערי גורלם ממטה אפרים

And the families of the children of Kehath, the Levites, who remained of the children of Kehath, obtained the cities of their lot from the tribe of Ephraim.

21 ויתנו להם את עיר מקלט הרצח את שכם ואת מגרשה--בהר אפרים ואת גזר ואת מגרשה

And they gave to them the city of refuge for the manslayer, Shechem with its open spaces in the mountain of Ephraim, and Gezer with its open spaces,

22 ואת קבצים ואת מגרשה ואת בית חורן ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע

And Kibzayim with its open spaces, and Beth-choron with its open spaces: four cities.

23 וממטה דן--את אלתקא ואת מגרשה את גבתון ואת מגרשה

And from the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its open spaces, Gibbethon with its open spaces,

24 את אילון ואת מגרשה את גת רמון ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע

Ayalon with its open spaces, Gath-rimmon with its open spaces: four cities.

25 וממחצית מטה מנשה--את תענך ואת מגרשה ואת גת רמון ואת מגרשה ערים שתים

And from the half tribe of Menasseh, Ta'nach with its open spaces, and Gath-rimmon with its open spaces: two cities.

26 כל ערים עשר ומגרשיהן למשפחות בני קהת הנותרים

All the cities were ten with their open spaces for the families of the children of Kehath that remained.

27 ולבני גרשון ממשפחת הלוים--מחצי מטה מנשה את עיר מקלט הרצח את גלון (גולן) בבשן ואת מגרשה ואת בעשתרה ואת מגרשה ערים שתים

And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, [they gave] from the other half tribe of Menasseh the city of refuge for the manslayer, Golan in Bashan with its open spaces, and Be'eshterah with its open spaces: two cities.

28 וממטה יששכר את קשיון ואת מגרשה את דברת ואת מגרשה

And from the tribe of Issachar, Kishyon with its open spaces, Daberath with its open spaces,

29 את ירמות ואת מגרשה את עין גנים ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע

Yarmuth with its open spaces, 'En-gannim with its open spaces: four cities.

30 וממטה אשר את משאל ואת מגרשה את עבדון ואת מגרשה

And from the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its open spaces, Abdon with its open spaces.

31 את חלקת ואת מגרשה ואת רחב ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע

Chelkath with its open spaces, and Rechob with its open spaces: four cities.

32 וממטה נפתלי את עיר מקלט הרצח את קדש בגליל ואת מגרשה ואת חמת דאר ואת מגרשה ואת קרתן ואת מגרשה ערים שלש

And from the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Kedesh in Galilee with its open spaces, and Chammothdor with its open spaces, and Karthan with its open spaces: three cities.

33 כל ערי הגרשני למשפחתם--שלש עשרה עיר ומגרשיהן

All the cities of the Gershunites according to their families were thirteen cities with their open spaces.

34 ולמשפחות בני מררי הלוים הנותרים--מאת מטה זבולן את יקנעם ואת מגרשה את קרתה ואת מגרשה

And unto the families of the children of Merari, the remainder of the Levites, [they gave] from the tribe of Zebulun, Yokne'am with its open spaces, and Karthah with its open spaces,

35 את דמנה ואת מגרשה את נהלל ואת מגרשה ערים ארבע

Dimnah with its open spaces, Nahalal with its open spaces: four cities.

36 וממטה גד את עיר מקלט הרצח את רמת בגלעד ואת מגרשה ואת מחנים ואת מגרשה

37 את חשבון ואת מגרשה את יעזר ואת מגרשה כל ערים ארבע

38 כל הערים לבני מררי למשפחתם הנותרים ממשפחות הלוים ויהי גורלם--ערים שתים עשרה

And from the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge for the manslayer, Ramoth in Gil'ad with its open spaces, and Machanayim with its open spaces,

39 כל ערי הלוים בתוך אחזת בני ישראל--ערים ארבעים ושמנה ומגרשיהן

Cheshbon with its open spaces, Ya'zer with its open spaces: four cities in all.

40 תהיינה הערים האלה--עיר עיר ומגרשיה סביבתיה כן לכל הערים האלה

All the cities for the children of Merari after their families, they who were remaining of the families of the Levites, even their lot was twelve cities.

41 ויתן יהוה לישראל את כל הארץ אשר נשבע לתת לאבותם וירשוה וישבו בה

All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their open spaces.

42 וינח יהוה להם מסביב ככל אשר נשבע לאבותם ולא עמד איש בפניהם מכל איביהם--את כל איביהם נתן יהוה בידם

These cities were every one with their open spaces round about them: thus it was with all these cities.

43 לא נפל דבר--מכל הדבר הטוב אשר דבר יהוה אל בית ישראל הכל בא

And the Lord gave unto Israel all the land which he had sworn to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.

44

And the Lord gave them rest round about, all just as he had sworn unto their fathers: and there stood not up before them a man of all their enemies; all their enemies the Lord delivered into their hand.

45

There failed not aught of all the good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel: it all came to pass.
