בראשית 10
| ואלה תולדת בני נח שם חם ויפת ויולדו להם בנים אחר המבול | 1 |
Now, these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and there were born to them sons after the flood.
| בני יפת--גמר ומגוג ומדי ויון ותבל ומשך ותירס | 2 |
The sons of Japheth: Gomer and Magog, and Madai, and Javan and Tubal, —and Meshech, and Tiras.
| ובני גמר--אשכנז וריפת ותגרמה | 3 |
And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz and Riphath, and Togarmah.
| ובני יון אלישה ותרשיש כתים ודדנים | 4 |
And the sons of Javan: Elishah, and Tarshish. Kittim, and Rodanim, —
| מאלה נפרדו איי הגוים בארצתם איש ללשנו--למשפחתם בגויהם | 5 |
From these, were dispersed [the inhabitants] of the coastlands of the nations, in their lands, each man by his tongue, by their families in their nations.
| ובני חם--כוש ומצרים ופוט וכנען | 6 |
And, the sons of Ham: Cush and Mizraim and Phut and Canaan.
| ובני כוש--סבא וחוילה וסבתה ורעמה וסבתכא ובני רעמה שבא ודדן | 7 |
And, the sons of Cush: Seba and Havilah, and Sabtah and Raamah, and Sabtechah, —And the sons of Raamah, Sheba and Dedan.
| וכוש ילד את נמרד הוא החל להיות גבר בארץ | 8 |
And, Cush begat Nimrod.—he, became a hero in the earth;
| הוא היה גבר ציד לפני יהוה על כן יאמר כנמרד גבור ציד לפני יהוה | 9 |
he, became a hero of hunting before Yahweh, for this cause, it is said. Like Nimrod, a hero of hunting before Yahweh.
| ותהי ראשית ממלכתו בבל וארך ואכד וכלנה בארץ שנער | 10 |
So the beginning of his kingdom came to be Babel, and Erech, and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
| מן הארץ ההוא יצא אשור ויבן את נינוה ואת רחבת עיר ואת כלח | 11 |
From that land, went forth Asshur, —and he built Nineveh, and Rehoboth-ir, and Calah:
| ואת רסן בין נינוה ובין כלח--הוא העיר הגדלה | 12 |
and Resen, between Niveveh and Calah, —the same is the great city.
| ומצרים ילד את לודים ואת ענמים ואת להבים--ואת נפתחים | 13 |
And, Mizraim, begat Ludim and Anamim and Lehabim, and Naphtuchim;
| ואת פתרסים ואת כסלחים אשר יצאו משם פלשתים--ואת כפתרים | 14 |
and Pathrusim and Casluhim whence came forth Philistim and Caphtorim.
| וכנען ילד את צידן בכרו--ואת חת | 15 |
And Canaan begat Zidon his firstborn, and Heth:
| ואת היבוסי ואת האמרי ואת הגרגשי | 16 |
and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite;
| ואת החוי ואת הערקי ואת הסיני | 17 |
and the Hivite and the Arkite, and the Sinite:
| ואת הארודי ואת הצמרי ואת החמתי ואחר נפצו משפחות הכנעני | 18 |
and the Arvadite and the Zemarite and the Hamathite, —and after-wards, were spread abroad the families of the Canaanite.
| ויהי גבול הכנעני מצידן--באכה גררה עד עזה באכה סדמה ועמרה ואדמה וצבים--עד לשע | 19 |
And it came to pass that the boundary of the Canaanite was from Zidon, as thou enterest in towards Gerar unto Gaza, —as thou enterest in towards Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboim, as far as Lasha.
| אלה בני חם למשפחתם ללשנתם בארצתם בגויהם | 20 |
These, are the sons of Ham, by their families by their tongues, in their lands in their nations.
| ולשם ילד גם הוא אבי כל בני עבר--אחי יפת הגדול | 21 |
Now, to Shem, father of all the sons of Eber, elder brother of Japheth, to him also, were children born.
| בני שם עילם ואשור וארפכשד ולוד וארם | 22 |
The sons of Shem, Elam and Asshur, —and Arpachshad and Lud and Aram.
| ובני ארם--עוץ וחול וגתר ומש | 23 |
And, the sons of Aram: Uz and Hul, and Gether and Mash.
| וארפכשד ילד את שלח ושלח ילד את עבר | 24 |
Now Arpachshad, begat Shelah, and Shelah begat Eber.
| ולעבר ילד שני בנים שם האחד פלג כי בימיו נפלגה הארץ ושם אחיו יקטן | 25 |
And to Eber, were born two sons, —the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days, was the earth divided, and the name of his brother was Joktan.
| ויקטן ילד את אלמודד ואת שלף ואת חצרמות ואת ירח | 26 |
Now, Joktan, begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah;
| ואת הדורם ואת אוזל ואת דקלה | 27 |
and Hadoram and Uzal, and Diklah:
| ואת עובל ואת אבימאל ואת שבא | 28 |
and Obal and Abimael, and Sheba:
| ואת אופר ואת חוילה ואת יובב כל אלה בני יקטן | 29 |
and Ophir and Havilah, and Jobab—all these were sons of Joktan.
| ויהי מושבם ממשא באכה ספרה הר הקדם | 30 |
And it came to pass that their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou enterest in towards Sephar, the mountain of the east.
| אלה בני שם למשפחתם ללשנתם בארצתם לגויהם | 31 |
These are the sons of Shem, by their families by their tongues, in their lands by their nations.
| אלה משפחת בני נח לתולדתם בגויהם ומאלה נפרדו הגוים בארץ--אחר המבול | 32 |
These, are the families of the sons of Noah, by their generations in their nations, and from these, were dispersed the nations in the earth after the flood.
