< Halelu 74 >
1 E KE Akua, o ke aha kau mea e mamao mau loa aku ai? No ke aha la e wela mai ai kou huhu i na hipa o kou aina?
An Instructive Psalm. Asaph’s. Wherefore, O God, hast thou cast off utterly? Shall thine anger smoke against the flock of thine own pasturing?
2 E hoomanao oe i kou ekalesia au i kuai kahiko loa ai, Ka ohana o kou hooilina au i kuai ai; O keia mauna Ziona kahi i noho ai oe.
Remember thine own assembly thou didst acquire aforetime, Thou didst redeem the tribe of thine own inheritance, Mount Zion, wherein thou didst take up thy habitation.
3 E hoeu i kou wawae i ka neoneo mau ana; I na mea a pau a ka enemi i hana hewa ai iloko e kou wahi hoano.
Lift up thy steps unto the places utterly unsafe, All the mischief!—the foe in the sanctuary!
4 Ua uwo kou poe enemi iloko o na anaina; Ua kau lakou i ko lakou mau hae i hoailona.
Thine adversaries have roared in the midst of thine appointed meeting, They have set their ensigns as tokens!
5 Kaulana aku la ke kanaka, E like me kona hapai ana i na koi i na laau paapu.
One used to be known according as he carried up high—into the thicket of trees—the axes;
6 Aka ano, ke wawahi nei lakou i kona mea i kalaiia, Me na koi a me na hamare.
But, now, the doors thereof all together, with axes and hammers, they batter down.
7 Ua hoolei lakou i ke ahi iloko o kou wahi hoano, Ua hoohaumia lakou ilalo i ka lepo i ka halelewa o kou inoa.
They have cast, into the fire, thy sanctuary, To the ground, have they profaned the habitation of thy Name.
8 I iho la lakou ma ko lakou naau, E luku pu kakou ia lakou; Ua hoopau i ke ahi i na halehalawai a pau o ke Akua ma ka aina.
They have said in their heart, Let us suppress them altogether, They have burned up all the meeting-places of GOD in the land.
9 Aole kakou i ike i ko kakou mau hoailona; Aole he kaula hou ae; Aohe mea iwaena o kakou i ike i ka loihi ana.
Our own signs, have we not seen, —There is no longer a prophet, —Neither is there with us, one who knoweth—How long!
10 E ke Akua, pehea ka loihi o ko ka enemi hoino ana mai? E hoino wale anei ka enemi i kou inoa i ka manawa pau ole?
How long, O God, shall the adversary, reproach? Shall the enemy revile thy Name perpetually?
11 No ke aha la oe i hoihoi aku ai i kou lima, i kou lima akau? E unuhi ae ia mai loko ae o kou poli.
Wherefore shouldst thou withdraw thy hand—thy right hand? [Bring it] out of the midst of thy bosom! (Selah)
12 No ka mea, o ke Akua ko'u Alii mai kinohi mai, E hana ana ma ke ola iwaena o ka honua.
But, God, hath been my king from aforetime, Working Deliverances in the midst of the earth.
13 Hookaawale ae la oe i ke kai me kou ikaika: Wawahi iho la oe i na poo o na kerokodila ma na wai.
Thou, didst cleave asunder, in thy might, the sea, Thou didst break in pieces the heads of the Crocodiles, [till they floated] on the waters;
14 Ulupa iho la oe i na poo o ka leviatana, A haawi ia ia i ai na na kanaka o ka waonahele.
Thou, didst crush the heads of the Sea-Monster, Thou didst give him to be food, for the people of the deserts;
15 Hookaawale ae la oe i ke kumuwai me ka muliwai: Hoomaloo iho la oe i na waikahe ikaika.
Thou, didst cleave open fountain and torrent, Thou, didst dry up rivers of steady flow:
16 Nou no ke ao, nou no hoi ka po: Ua hoomakaukau oe i ka malamalama a me ka la.
Thine, is the day, Yea, thine, the night, Thou, didst establish moon and sun;
17 Ua hoonohonoho oe i na palena a pau o ka honua; Ua hana hoi oe i ka hoilo a me ka makalii.
Thou, didst set up all the bounds of the earth, As for summer and winter, thou, didst form them!
18 E hoomanao oe i keia, ua hoino wale ka enemi, e Iehova, A ua kuamuamu wale na kanaka naaupo i kou inoa.
Remember this, An enemy, hath reproached Yahweh, Yea, an impious people, have reviled thy Name.
19 Mai noho a haawi i ka uhane o kau manu nunu i ka poe ino: Mai hoopoina mau loa i ke anaina o kou poe ilihune.
Do not deliver up, to a wild beast, the life of thy turtle-dove, The living host of thine oppressed ones, do not forget perpetually.
20 E manao mai oe i ka berita; No ka mea, ua paapu na wahi pouli o ka honua i na wahi e noho ai ka lalauwale.
Have respect to thy covenant, For the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of violence.
21 Mai noho a hoi hou ka poe i hooluhihewaia me ka hilahila; Aka, e hoolea aku i kou inoa ka poe ilihune a me ka haahaa.
May the crushed one not again be confounded, As for the oppressed and the needy, let them praise thy Name.
22 E ku iluna, e ko Akua, e hakaka i ko'u hakaka: E hoomanao i ko ke kanaka naaupo hoino wale ana ia oe i na la a pau.
Arise! O God, plead thine own cause, Remember the reproach of thee, from the impious one, all the day:
23 Mai hoopoina i ka leo o kou poe enemi: Ke mahuahua mai nei ka haunaele ana o ka poe ku e ia oe.
Do not forget the voice of thine adversaries, The noise of thine assailants, ascending continually.
