< Halelu 59 >
1 E HOOPAKELE ia'u i ko'u mau enemi, e ko'u Akua; E hookiekie oe ia'u i ka poe ku e mai iluna ia'u.
“To the chief musician, Al-tashcheth, by David, a Michtham, when Saul sent, and they watched the house to put him to death.” Deliver me from my enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
2 E hoopakele ia'u i ka poe hana hewa; A e hoola mai ia'u i na kanaka koko.
Deliver me from the workers of wickedness, and from men of blood do thou save me.
3 No ka mea, aia hoi, ke hoohalua nei lakou no ko'u uhane: Ua akoakoa ku e mai ka poe ikaika; Aole no ko'u hewa, aole hoi no ko'u lawehala ana, e Iehova.
For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul, the mighty are gathered in troops against me: not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.
4 Me ko'u hala ole, holo lakou a hoomakaukau; E ala ae e hoohalawai me au, a e nana mai.
Without guilt [in me] they run and make themselves ready: awake, [come] toward me, and behold.
5 O oe, e Iehova ke Akua Sabaota, ke Akua o Iseraela, E ala, e hoopai i na lahuikanaka a pau: Mai hoomanawanui mai i na mea lawehala nui. (Sila)
And thou, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to punish all the nations: be not gracious to any treacherous wicked one. (Selah)
6 Ua hoi mai lakou i ke ahiahi: Ua uwo lakou me he ilio la; Ke kaapuni nei lakou i ke kulanakauhale.
They will return at evening; they will howl like dogs, and go round about the city.
7 Aia hoi, ua hoolei mai me ko lakou waha: He mau pahikaua maloko o ko lakou mau leheleho: No ka mea, owai ka mea hoolohe?
Behold, they sputter with their mouth: swords are in their lips; for who, [say they, ] doth hear?
8 Aka, e Iehova, o akaaka mai no oe ia lakou; E henehene mai no hoi oe i na lahuikanaka a pau.
But thou, O Lord, wilt laugh at theme: thou wilt hold in derision all the nations.
9 No kona ikaika, e malama aku au ia oe; No ka mea, o ke Akua ko'u wahi e malu ai.
Because of [the enemy's] strength will I wait upon thee; for God is my defence.
10 E hele no hoi imua o'u ko'u Akua aloha mai; E haawi mai ke Akua ia'u e nana aku i ko'u poe enemi.
The God who showeth me kindness will go before me: God will let me see [my desire] upon those who regard me with envy.
11 Mai luku mai oe ia lakou, o poina i ko'u poe Kanaka: E hoauwana oe ia lakou me kou mana; E hoohaahaa oe ia lakou, e ka Haku, ko makou palekaua.
Slay them not, that my people may not forget: drive them about by thy power; and bring them down, thou our shield, O Lord.
12 No ka hewa o ko lakou waha, A me na olelo a ko lakou mau lehelehe, E hooheiia lakou iloko o ko lakou hookiekie ana; A no ke kuamuamu a me ka wahahee a lakou e pane nei.
The sin of their mouth is the word of their lips: let them be caught through their pride, because of the cursing and lying which they relate.
13 E hoopau oe me kon huhu, e hoopau, i ole lakou; I ike lakou o ke Akua ke alii iloko o Iakoba a hiki i na welau o ka honua,
Make an end in fury, make an end [of them], that they my be no more, and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob, as far as the ends of the earth. (Selah)
14 A i ke ahiahi o hoi mai ai lakou; A e uwo lakou me he ilio la, A e kaapuni i ke kulanakauhale.
And they will return in the evening; they will howl like dogs, and go round about the city.
15 E auwana lakou i o ia nei, i ai, A e uwo lakou ke maona ole.
They will indeed roam about after something to eat, if they be not satisfied, so that they can be at rest.
16 Aka, e oli aku au i kou mana; Oia hoi, e himeni leo nui aku au i kou aloha i ke kakahiaka; No ka mea, he wahi malu ae nei oe no'u, He puuhonua i ko'u la i popilikia'i.
But I will truly sing of thy strength; yea, I will sing joyfully in the morning of thy kindness; for thou hast been a defence unto me and a refuge on the day when I was distressed.
17 E ko'u Ikaika, ia oe no wau e mele aku ai: No ka mea, o oe no ko'u wahi e malu ai, e ko'u Akua aloha mai.
Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing; for God is my defence, the God of my kindness.
