< Halelu 38 >

1 E IEHOVA, mai hoopai mai oe ia'u me kou huhu; Mai hahau mai ia'u me kou inaina nui.
A Melody of David. To bring to Remembrance. O Yahweh, do not, in thine anger, correct me, nor, in thy wrath, chastise me;
2 No ka mea, ua haule mai kou mau pua maluna o'u, A ua kaomi ikaika mai kou lima ia'u.
For, thine arrows, have sunk down into me, and thy hand, presseth heavily upon me.
3 Aole maikai ko'u io no kou huhu; Aole maha iloko o ko'u mau iwi no ko'u hewa.
There is no soundness in my flesh, By reason of thine indignation, There is no peace in my bones, By reason of my sin;
4 No ka mea, ua kaa ae kuu mau hewa maluna o kuu poo; Me he mea kaumaha la, ua kaumaha loa ia ia'u.
For, mine iniquities, have passed over my head, Like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me:
5 Ua pilau ko'u mau eha, ua palahehe, No ko'u naaupo ana.
My wounds are of bad odour—they have festered, by reason of my folly:
6 Ua pilikia au, ua kulou loa au ilalo; E u hele ana a po ka la.
I am bent, I am bowed down very low. All the day, have I gloomily walked;
7 Ua paapu ko'u mau puhaka i ka wela; Aohe wahi ola iloko o ko'u io.
For, my loins, are filled with inflammation, and there is no soundness in my flesh:
8 Nawaliwali au, ua pope loa: Auwe aku la au no ka ikiki o ko'u naau.
I am benumbed and crushed exceedingly, —I have cried aloud because of the groaning of my heart.
9 E ka Haku, imua o kou alo ko'u makemake a pau; Aole i hunaia ia oe kuu auwe ana.
O My Lord! before thee, is all my longing, and, my sighing, from thee, hath not been hid:
10 Ua naenae ko'u naau, ua maule kuu ikaika; O ka malamalama o kuu mau maka, ua haalele hoi ia ia'u.
My heart, fluttereth, my strength hath forsaken me, and, as for the light of mine eyes, even they, are not with me:
11 O ko'u poe hoaaloha a me ko'u mau makamaka, ua ku mamao aku lakou i ka'u pilikia; A ua ku aku ko'u mau hoahanau ma kahi loihi.
My lovers, and my friends, from before my stroke, stand aloof, —and, my near ones, far away, do stand:
12 O ka poe kii mai i kuu uhane, hoomoe lakou i na pahele: A o ka poe imi i mea e poino ai au, ke olelo nei lakou i na mea hewa; Noonoo hoi lakou ma ka hoopunipuni a po ka la,
Yea they who are seeking my life, have laid snares, and they who are asking my harm, have threatened engulfing ruin, And, deceitful things—all day long, do they mutter.
13 Aka, me he kuli la, aole au i hoolohe aku; E like hoi me ke kanaka leo ole, i ekemu ole kona waha.
But, I, as one deaf, will not hear, —and as one dumb, who will not open his mouth:
14 Pela hoi au e like me ke kanaka lohe ole, A iloko o kona waha aole ka hoopaapaa ana.
Thus have I become as a man who cannot hear, in whose mouth are no arguments:
15 No ka mea, ke manaolana aku nei au ia oe, e Iehova; E hoolohe no hoi oe, e ka Haku ko'u Akua:
Because, for thee, O Yahweh, have I waited, Thou, wilt answer, O Adonay, my God!
16 No ka mea, ua olelo au, O hauoli mai lakou maluna o'u: I ke kapeke ana o kuu wawae, haanui ku e lakou ia'u.
For I said, Lest they rejoice over me! When my feet were tottering, against me, have they magnified themselves:
17 No ka mea, kokoke au e hina, Ke waiho mau nei ko'u kaumaha imua o'u.
For, I, to halt, am ready, and, my pain, is before me continually;
18 No ka mea, e hai aku no au i kuu hewa, A e ehaeha hoi au no ko'u lawehala ana.
For, mine iniquity, will I declare, I shall be anxious because of my sin;
19 A o ko'u mau enemi e ola ana ua ikaika lakou; A ua lehulehu mai la ka poe inaina hewa mai ia'u.
And, my foes, are alive—have become strong, —and multiplied are they who hate me for false cause:
20 O ka poe hoihoi i ka hewa no ka pono ua ku e mai lakou ia'u, No ko'u hahai ana i ka pono.
Even they who are repaying evil for good, accuse me because I pursue the good.
21 Mai noho a haalele mai ia'u, e Iehova; E kuu Akua, mai noho a mamao aku ia'u.
Do not forsake me, O Yahweh, My God! be not far from me:
22 E wiki mai i ke kokua ia'u, E kuu Moi kuu mea e ola'i.
Make haste to help me, My Lord, my deliverance!
