< Halelu 148 >

1 E HALELU aku oukou ia Iehova, E halelu aku oukou ia Iehova, e na mea mai ka lani mai; E halelu aku ia ia ma na wahi kiekie.
Praise Yahweh! Praise him, from up in heaven; praise him from way up in the sky!
2 E halelu aku ia ia, e kona poe anela a pau; E halelu aku oukou ia ia, e kona mau kaua a pau.
All you angels who belong to him, praise him! All you who are in the armies of heaven, praise him!
3 E halelu aku ia ia, o ka la, a me ka mahina; E halelu aku ia ia, e na hoku malamalama a pau.
Sun and moon, [you also] praise him! You shining stars, you praise him!
4 E halelu aku ia ia, e ka lani o na lani, E oukou hoi, na wai maluna o ka lani.
You highest heavens, praise him! And you waters that are high above the sky, praise him!
5 E halelu aku lakou ia Iehova; No ka mea, kauoha mai la ia, a hanaia iho la lakou.
I want [all of] these to praise Yahweh [MTY] because by commanding [them to exist], he created them.
6 Ua hookumu paa mai oia ia lakou, a i ka manawa pau ole: Ua haawi mai oe i ka mokuna, aole lakou hele ae ma ia aoao aku.
He determined the places where they should be [in the sky], and he commanded that they should be there forever. They cannot disobey that command!
7 E halelu aku oukou ia Iehova, mai ka honua ae, E na moonui, a me na wahi hohonu a pau:
And everything on the earth, praise Yahweh! You [huge] sea monsters and [everything else that is] deep [in the ocean],
8 Ke ahi, ka huahekili, ka hau, a me ka mahu, Ka makani ino, e hooko ana i kana olelo;
and fire and hail, and snow and frost, and strong winds that obey what he commands, [I tell] all of you to praise Yahweh!
9 Na kuahiwi, me na mauna a pau; Na laau hua, a me na kedera a pau;
Hills and mountains, fruit trees and cedar [trees],
10 Na holoholona hihiu, a me na holoholona laka a pau; Na mea kolo, a me na manu lele;
all the wild animals and all [you] cattle, and the (reptiles/creatures that scurry across the ground), and [all] the birds, [I tell all of them to praise Yahweh]!
11 Na'lii o ka honua, a me na lahuikanaka a pau; Na kaukaualii, a me na lunakanawai a pau o ka honua;
You kings on this earth and all the people [that you rule], you princes and all [other] rulers,
12 Na kanaka opiopio, a me na kaikamahine; Ka poe kahiko, a me na keiki;
you young men and young women, you old people and children, [everyone, praise Yahweh!]
13 E halelu aku lakou i ka inoa o Iehova; No ka mea, o kona inoa wale no ka i hookiekieia: Ua kiekie hoi kona nani maluna o ka honua a me ka lani.
I want them [all] to praise Yahweh [MTY] because he is greater than anyone else. His glory is greater than [anything on] the earth or [in] heaven.
14 Ua hookiekie oia i ka pepeiaohao o kona poe kanaka, Oia ka nani o kona poe haipule a pau; O na mamo hoi o ka Iseraela, He poe kanaka e noho kokoke ana ia ia. E halelu aku oukou ia Iehova.
He caused us, his people, to be strong in order that we, his people, we Israeli people (who are very precious to him/whom he loves very much), would praise him. So praise Yahweh!
