< Halelu 143 >

1 E HOOLOHE mai oe i ka'u pule, o Iehova, E haliu mai hoi i ko'u nonoi ana; A ma koa oiaio, a ma kou pono, e ae mai ia'u.
Yahweh, hear me while I pray to you! Because you are righteous and because you faithfully do what you have promised, listen to what I am pleading that you [do for me].
2 Mai hookolokolo mai oe i kau kauwa, No ka mea, aole o aponoia kekahi mea ola imua ou.
I am one who serves you; do not judge me, because you know that everyone has done things that are wrong).
3 Ua hoomaau mai ka enemi i ko'u uhane; Ua ulupa oia i ko'u ola ilalo i ka honua; Ua hoonoho mai oia ia'u ma ka pouli, E like me ka poe i loihi ka make ana.
[My] enemies have pursued me; they have completely defeated me. [It is as though] they have put me in a dark [prison], where I [have nothing good to] ([hope for/expect]), like those who died long ago [SIM].
4 Ua maule no ko'u ea iloko o'u; Ua neoneo hoi ko'u naau maloko ia'u.
So I am very discouraged; I am very dismayed/worried.
5 Ua hoomanao no wau i na la o ka wa kahiko; Ua noonoo no wau ma kau mau hana a pau; Ma ka hana o kou lima ua noonoo nui wau.
I remember what has happened previously: I (meditate on/think about) all the things that you have done; I consider [all] the [great] deeds that you [SYN] have performed.
6 Hohola aku au i ko'u mau lima ia oe; Me he aina maloo la, ko'u uhane, i ka iini ia oe. (Sila)
I lift up my hands/arms to you while I pray; I [SYN] need you, like very dry ground [needs rain] [SIM].
7 E hoolohe koke mai oe ia'u e Iehova, Ua maule ko'u uhane; Mai huna oe i kou maka ia'u, O like auanei au me ka poe iho ilalo i ka lua.
Yahweh, I am very discouraged, [so] please answer me right now! Do not hide from me, because if you do that, I will [soon] be [SIM] among those who descend to where the dead people are.
8 E haawi mai oe ia'u i ka hoolohe i kou lokomaikai i ke kakahiaka, No ka mea, ke hilinai aku nei au ia oe: E hoike mai oe ia'u i ke ala au e hele ai, No ka mea, ke hapai aku nei au i ko'u uhane ia oe.
[Every] morning cause me to remember that you faithfully love [me], because I trust in you. I (pray/send my prayers up [IDM]) to you; show me what I should do.
9 E hoopakele mai oe ia'u i ko'u poe enemi, e Iehova; Ia oe no wau e holo ai, e huna mai oe ia'u.
Yahweh, I have gone/run to you to be protected, [so] rescue me from my enemies.
10 E ao mai oe ia'u e hana i kou makemake, No ka mea, o oe no ko'u Akua, ua maikai no kou uhane; E alakai oe ia'u a iloko o ka aina pololei.
You are my God; teach me to do what you want me to do. I want your good Spirit to lead me on a path that is not difficult to walk on.
11 E hooikaika mai oe ia'u, e Iehova, no kou inoa; No kou pono hoi e hoopuka aku oe i ko'u uhane mawaho o ka pilikia.
Yahweh, restore me when I am close to dying, as you promised to do. Because you are righteous/good, rescue me from my troubles/difficulties!
12 Ma kou lokomaikai, e hooki ae oe i ko'u poe enemi, A e anai mai hoi i ka poe a pau i hoomaau mai ia'u; No ka mea, owau no kau kauwa.
I am one who serves you; so because you faithfully love [me], kill my enemies and get rid of all those who (oppress/cause trouble for) me.
