< Halelu 142 >
1 KAHEA aku la au ia Iehova, i ko'u leo, Me ko'u leo hoi i nonoi aku ai au ia Iehova.
An Instruction of David, a Prayer when he is in the cave. My voice [is] unto Jehovah, I cry, My voice [is] unto Jehovah, I entreat grace.
2 Ninini aku la au i ko'u kaniuhu imua ona, A hoike aku la no hoi i ko'u pilikia ma kona alo.
I pour forth before Him my (meditation) My distress before Him I declare.
3 I ka maule ana o ko'u uhane iloko o'u, Alaila ike pono no oe i ko'u alanui. Ma ke ala a'u i hele aku ai, hana lakou i hei no'u.
When my spirit hath been feeble in me, Then Thou hast known my path; In the way [in] which I walk, They have hid a snare for me.
4 Nana aku la au ma ka lima akau, a ike hoi, Aohe mea i ike mai ia'u; Ua pau na wahi e pakele ai; Aohe mea i manao mai i ko'u uhane.
Looking on the right hand — and seeing, And I have none recognizing; Perished hath refuge from me, There is none inquiring for my soul.
5 Kahea aku la au ia oe, e Iehova, I aku la, O oe no ko'u paku, O kuu puu waiwai hoi ma ka aina o ka poe ola.
I have cried unto thee, O Jehovah, I have said, 'Thou [art] my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.'
6 E hoolohe mai oe i ko'u uwe ana, no ka mea, ua hoopilikia loa ia au: E hoopakele mai oe ia'u i ka poe hoomaau mai, No ka mea, na oi aku ko lakou ikaika i ko'u.
Attend Thou unto my loud cry, For I have become very low, Deliver Thou me from my pursuers, For they have been stronger than I.
7 E hoopuka aku oe i ko'u uhane iwaho o ka hale paahao, I hoomililani aku au i kou inoa; E kaapuni mai ka poe pono ia'u, No ka mea, e hana maikai mai oe ia'u.
Bring forth from prison my soul to confess Thy name, The righteous do compass me about, When Thou conferrest benefits upon me!
