And it cometh to pass, after the plague, that Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, and unto Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, saying,

'Take up the sum of all the company of the sons of Israel, from a son of twenty years and upward, by the house of their fathers, every one going out to the host in Israel.'

And Moses speaketh — Eleazar the priest also — with them, in the plains of Moab, by Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,

4 [E helu oukou i na kanaka, ] o na makahiki he iwakalua a keu aku, e like me ka Iehova i kauoha mai ai ia Mose a i na mamo a Iseraela i hele mai mailoko mai o ka aina o Aigupita.

'From a son of twenty years and upward,' as Jehovah hath commanded Moses and the sons of Israel who are coming out from the land of Egypt.

Reuben, first-born of Israel — sons of Reuben: [of] Hanoch [is] the family of the Hanochite; of Pallu the family of the Palluite;

of Hezron the family of the Hezronite; of Carmi the family of the Carmite.

These [are] families of the Reubenite, and their numbered ones are three and forty thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

8 O na keiki a Palu, o Eliaba.

And the son of Pallu [is] Eliab;

and the sons of Eliab [are] Nemuel and Dathan and Abiram; this [is that] Dathan and Abiram, called ones of the company, who have striven against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, in their striving against Jehovah,

and the sons of Korah died not.

Sons of Simeon by their families: of Nemuel [is] the family of the Nemuelite; of Jamin the family of the Jaminite; of Jachin the family of the Jachinite;

of Zerah the family of the Zarhite; of Shaul the family of the Shaulite.

14 Oia na ohana o ka Simeona, he iwakaluakamamalua tausani, me na haneri keu elua.

These [are] families of the Simeonite, two and twenty thousand and two hundred.

15 O na keiki a Gada ma ko lakou mau ohana: na Zepora ka ohana o ka Zepora: na Hagi ka ohana o ka Hagi: na Suni ka ohana o ka Suni:

Sons of Gad by their families: of Zephon [is] the family of the Zephonite; of Haggi the family of the Haggite; of Shuni the family of the Shunite;

16 Na Ozeni ka ohana o ka Ozeni: na Eri ka ohana o ka Eri:

of Ozni the family of the Oznite; of Eri the family of the Erite:

17 Na Aroda ka ohana o ka Aroda: na Areli ka ohana o ka Areli.

of Arod the family of the Arodite; of Areli the family of the Arelite.

18 Oia na ohana o na mamo a Gada, ma ka poe o lakou i heluia, he kanaha tausani a me na haneri elima.

These [are] families of the sons of Gad, by their numbered ones, forty thousand and five hundred.

19 O na keiki a Iuda, o Era a me Onana: a make iho la o Era laua o Onana ma ka aina o Kanaana.

Sons of Judah [are] Er and Onan; and Er dieth — Onan also — in the land of Canaan.

20 A o na keiki a Iuda ma ko lakou mau ohana; na Sela ka ohana o ka Sela: na Pareza ka ohana o ka Pareza: na Zera ka ohana o ka Zera:

And sons of Judah, by their families, are: of Shelah the family of the Shelanite; of Pharez the family of the Pharzite; of Zerah the family of the Zarhite;

21 A o na keiki a Pareza: na Hezerona ka ohana a ka Hezerona: na Hamula ka ohana o ka Hamula.

and sons of Pharez are: of Hezron the family of the Hezronite; of Hamul the family of the Hamulite.

22 Oia na ohana o ka Iuda ma ka poe o lakou i heluia, he kanahikukumamaono tausani, a me na haneri keu elima.

These [are] families of Judah, by their numbered ones, six and seventy thousand and five hundred.

23 O na keiki a Isakara ma ko lakou mau ohana: na Tola ka ohana o ka Tola: na Pua ka ohana o ka Puni:

Sons of Issachar by their families; [of] Tola [is] the family of the Tolaite; of Pua the family of the Punite;

24 Na Iasuba ka ohana o ka Iasuba: na Simerona ka ohana o ka Simerona.

of Jashub the family of the Jashubite; of Shimron the family of the Shimronite.

25 Oia na ohana o ka Isakara, ma ka poe o lakou i heluia; he kanaonokumamaha tausani a me na haneri ekolu.

These [are] families of Issachar, by their numbered ones, four and sixty thousand and three hundred.

26 O na keiki a Zebuluna ma ko lakou mau ohana: na Sereda ka ohana o ka Sereda: na Elona ka ohana o ka Elona: na Iaheleela ka ohana o ka Iaheleela.

Sons of Zebulun by their families: of Sered [is] the family of the Sardite; of Elon the family of the Elonite; of Jahleel the family of the Jahleelite.

27 Oia na ohana o ka Zebuluna, ma ka poe o lakou i heluia, he kanaono tausani a me na haneri elima.

These [are] families of the Zebulunite by their numbered ones, sixty thousand and five hundred.

28 O na keiki a Iosepa ma ko lakou ohana, o Manase a me Eperaima.

Sons of Joseph by their families [are] Manasseh and Ephraim.

29 No na keiki a Manase: na Makira ka ohana o ka Makira: na Makira o Gileada: na Gileada ka ohana o ka Gileada.

Sons of Manasseh: of Machir [is] the family of the Machirite; and Machir hath begotten Gilead; of Gilead [is] the family of the Gileadite.

30 Eia na keiki a Gileada: na Iezera ka ohana o ka Iezera: na Heleka ka ohana o ka Heleka:

These [are] sons of Gilead: [of] Jeezer [is] the family of the Jeezerite; of Helek the family of the Helekite;

31 A na Aseriela ka ohana o ka Aseriela: a na Sekema ka ohana o ka Sekema:

and [of] Asriel the family of the Asrielite; and [of] Shechem the family of the Shechemite;

32 A na Semida ka ohana o ka Semida: a na Hepera ka ohana o ka Hepera.

and [of] Shemida the family of the Shemidaite; and [of] Hepher the family of the Hepherite.

33 Aohe keikikane a Zelopehada ke keiki a Hepera, he mau kaikamahine nae: eia na inoa o na kaikamahine a Zelopehada, o Mala, o Noa, o Hogela, o Mileka a me Tireza.

And Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons but daughters, and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad [are] Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

34 Oia na ohana o ka Manase, a o ka poe o lakou i heluia, he kanalimakumamalua tausani a me na haneri ehiku.

These [are] families of Manasseh, and their numbered ones [are] two and fifty thousand and seven hundred.

35 Eia na keiki a Eperaima ma ko lakou mau ohana: na Sutela ka ohana o ka Sutela: na Bekera ka ohana o ka Bekera: na Tahana ka ohana o ka Tahana:

These [are] sons of Ephraim by their families: of Shuthelah [is] the family of the Shuthelhite; of Becher the family of the Bachrite; of Tahan the family of the Tahanite.

36 Eia hoi na keiki a Sutela: na Erana ka ohana a ka Erana.

And these [are] sons of Shuthelah: of Eran the family of the Eranite.

37 Oia na ohana a na keiki a Eperaima ma ka poe o lakou i heluia, he kanakolukumamalua tausani, a me na haneri elima. Oia na keiki a Iosepa ma ko lakou mau ohana.

These [are] families of the sons of Ephraim, by their numbered ones, two and thirty thousand and five hundred. These [are] sons of Joseph by their families.

38 O na keiki a Beniamina ma ko lakou mau ohana: na Bela ka ohana o ka Bela: na Asebela ka ohana o ka Asebela: na Ahirama ka ohana o ka Ahirama.

Sons of Benjamin by their families: of Bela [is] the family of the Belaite; of Ashbel the family of the Ashbelite; of Ahiram the family of the Ahiramite;

39 Na Supama ka ohana o ka Supama, na Hupama ka ohana o ka Hupama.

of Shupham the family of the Shuphamite; of Hupham the family of the Huphamite.

40 Eia na keiki a Bela, o Areda laua o Naamana: [na Areda] ka ohana o ka Areda: na Naamana ka ohana o ka Naamana:

And sons of Bela are Ard and Naaman: [of Ard is] the family of the Ardite: of Naaman the family of the Naamite.

41 Oia na keiki a Beniamina ma ko lakou mau ohana: a o ka poe o lakou i heluia, he kanahakumamalima tausani me na haneri keu eono.

These [are] sons of Benjamin by their families, and their numbered ones [are] five and forty thousand and six hundred.

42 Eia na keiki a Dana ma ko lakou mau ohana: na Suhama ka ohana o ka Suhama: oia na ohana a Dana ma ko lakou mau ohana.

These [are] sons of Dan by their families: of Shuham [is] the family of the Shuhamite; these [are] families of Dan by their families;

43 O na ohana a pau o ka Suhama, ma ka poe o lakou i heluia, he kanaonokumamaha tausani me na haneri keu eha.

all the families of the Shuhamite, by their numbered ones, [are] four and sixty thousand and four hundred.

44 O na keiki a Asera, ma ko lakou mau ohana: na Iimena ka ohana o Iimena: na Iesui ka ohana o ka Iesui: na Beria ka ohana o ka Beria.

Sons of Asher by their families: of Jimna [is] the family of the Jimnite; of Jesui the family of the Jesuite; of Beriah the family of the Beriite.

45 O na keiki a Beria: na Hebera ka ohana o ka Hebera: na Malekiela ka ohana o ka Malekiela.

Of sons of Beriah: of Heber [is] the family of the Heberite; of Malchiel the family of the Malchielite.

46 A o Sara ka inoa o ke kaikamahine a Asera.

And the name of the daughter of Asher [is] Sarah.

47 Oia na ohana o na keiki a Asera, ma ka poe o lakou i heluia, he kanalimakumamakolu tausani me na haneri keu eha.

These [are] families of the sons of Asher, by their numbered ones, three and fifty thousand and four hundred.

48 O na keiki a Napetali ma ko lakou mau ohana: na Iahezela ka ohana o ka Iahezela: na Guni ka ohana o ka Guni:

Sons of Naphtali by their families: of Jahzeel [is] the family of the Jahzeelite; of Guni the family of the Gunite;

49 Na Iezera ka ohana o ka Iezera: na Silema ka ohana o ka Silema.

of Jezer the family of the Jezerite; of Shillem the family of the Shillemite.

50 Oia na ohana a Napetali ma ko lakou mau ohana: a o ka poe o lakou i heluia, he kanahakumamalima tausani, a me na haneri eha.

These [are] families of Naphtali by their families, and their numbered ones [are] five and forty thousand and four hundred.

51 Eia ka poe i heluia o na mamo a Iseraela; eono haneri me kumamakahi tausani, ehiku haneri me kanakolu.

These [are] numbered ones of the sons of Israel, six hundred thousand, and a thousand, seven hundred and thirty.

52 Olelo mai la o Iehova ia Mose, i mai la,

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

53 No lakou e puunaueia ka aina i hooilina, e like me ka helu ana i na inoa.

'To these is the land apportioned by inheritance, by the number of names;

54 No ka poe nui, e hoonui ae oe i kona aina, a no ka poe uuku iho, e houuku iho oe i kona aina: no kela mea keia mea e haawiia kona aina e like me ka nui o kona poe i heluia.

to the many thou dost increase their inheritance, and to the few thou dost diminish their inheritance; [to] each according to his numbered ones is given his inheritance.

'Only by lot is the land apportioned, by the names of the tribes of their fathers they inherit;

according to the lot is their inheritance apportioned between many and few.'

57 Eia ka poe i heluia o ka Levi ma ko lakou mau ohana: na Geresona ka ohana o ka Geresona: na Kohata ka ohana o ka Kohata: na Merari ka ohana o ka Merari.

And these [are] numbered ones of the Levite by their families: of Gershon [is] the family of the Gershonite; of Kohath the family of the Kohathite; of Merari the family of the Merarite.

58 Eia na ohana o ka Levi: ka ohana o ka Libeni, ka ohana o ka Heberona, ka ohana o ka Maheli, ka ohana o ka Musi, ka ohana o ka Korata: na Kohata o Amerama.

These [are] families of the Levite: the family of the Libnite, the family of the Hebronite, the family of the Mahlite, the family of the Mushite, the family of the Korathite. And Kohath hath begotten Amram,

59 A o ka inoa o ka wahine a Amerama, oia o Iokebeda, ke kaikamahine a Levi, ka mea i hanau na Levi ma Aigupita: nana no i hanau na Amerama o Aarona laua o Mose, a me Miriama ko laua kaikuwahine.

and the name of Amram's wife is Jochebed, daughter of Levi, whom [one] hath born to Levi in Egypt; and she beareth to Amram Aaron, and Moses, and Miriam their sister.

60 A hanau na Aarona o Nadaba, o Abihu, o Eleazara a me Itamara.

And born to Aaron Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar;

61 A make iho la o Nadaba laua o Abihu, ia laua i mohai aku ai i ke ahi e imua o Iehova.

and Nadab dieth — Abihu also — in their bringing near strange fire before Jehovah.

62 O ka poe o lakou i heluia, he iwakaluakumamakolu tausani, he poe kane wale no o ka malama hookahi a keu aku: aole no lakou i heluia iwaena o na mamo a Iseraela, no ka mea, aole i haawiia he aina no lakou iwaena o na mamo a Iseraela.

And their numbered ones are three and twenty thousand, every male from a son of a month and upwards, for they have not numbered themselves in the midst of the sons of Israel; for an inheritance hath not been given to them in the midst of the sons of Israel.

63 Oia ka poe i heluia e Mose laua o Eleazara ke kahuna; na laua no i helu i na mamo a Iseraela ma na papu o Moaba, ma Ioredane o Ieriko.

These [are] those numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who have numbered the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab, by Jordan, [near] Jericho;

and among these there hath not been a man of those numbered by Moses, and Aaron the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai,

for Jehovah said of them, 'They do certainly die in the wilderness;' and there hath not been left of them a man save Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua son of Nun.
