< Mika 6 >

1 E HOOLOHE mai oukou ano i ka mea a Iehova i olelo mai ai; E ku iluna, e hakaka imua o na mauna, A e hoolohe na puu i kou leo.
Pay attention to what Yahweh says [to you Israeli people]: “Stand up [in court] and state what you are accusing [me] about. And allow the hills and mountains to hear what you will say.
2 A hoolohe oukou, e na mauna i ka hoopaapaa o Iehova, A me oukou na kumu paa o ka honua: No ka mea, he hoopaapaa ko Iehova me kona poe kanaka, A e hoopaapaa no ia me ka Iseraela.
[But then] you mountains must [also] listen [carefully] [DOU] to what I, Yahweh, am complaining [about my people]. I have something to say about what [DOU] my Israeli people are doing that displeases me.
3 E kuu poe kanaka, heaha ka'u i hana aku ai ia oe? Heaha ka'u i hooluhi ai ia oe? e hoike mai ia'u.
My people, what have I done to [cause trouble for] you [RHQ]? What have I done to cause you to experience difficulties? Answer me!
4 No ka mea, ua lawe mai au ia oe mai ka aina o Aigupita mai, A ua hoola au ia oe mai ka hale o na kauwa mai; A ua hoouna aku au imua ou ia Mose, ia Aarona, a me Miriama.
I [did great things for your ancestors]; I brought them out of Egypt; I rescued them from that land where they were slaves. I sent Moses to [lead] them, and [his older brother] Aaron and [his older sister] Miriam.
5 E kuu poe kanaka, e hoomanao ano i ka mea a Balaka, ke alii o Moaba, i noonoo ai, A i ka mea hoi a Balaama ke keiki a Beora i olelo mai ai ia ia, mai Sitima mai a Gilegala; I ike oukou i ka pono o Iehova.
My people, think about when Balak, the king of Moab, requested Beor’s son Balaam [to curse your ancestors], and think about what Balaam replied. Think about [how your ancestors crossed the Jordan River miraculously while] they were traveling from Acacia to Gilgal. [Think about those things in order] that you may know that [I], Yahweh, do what is right.”
6 Me ke aha la wau e hele aku ai imua o Iehova, A kulou iho imua o ke Akua kiekie? E hele anei au imua ona me na mohai kuni, Me na keiki bipi o ka makahiki hookahi?
[The Israeli people ask, ] “What shall we bring to Yahweh [who lives in] heaven when we come to him and bow down before him? Should we bring calves that are a year-old that will be offerings that will be [killed and] completely burned [on the altar]?
7 E oluolu anei o Iehova i na tausani hipa kane? A me ka umi tausani muliwai aila? E haawi anei au i kuu makahiapo no kuu hala, I ka hua o kuu kino no ka hewa o ko'u uhane.
Will Yahweh be pleased [if we offer to him] 1,000 rams and 10,000 streams of [olive] oil? Should we offer our firstborn children [to be sacrifices] to pay for the sins that we have committed [DOU]?”
8 Ua hoike mai no ia ia oe, e ke kanaka, i ka mea maikai; A he aha ka mea a ke Akua i kauoha mai ai ia oe, Ke ole e hana i ka pono, a e aloha i ka lokomaikai, A e hoohaahaa i ka hele ana me ke Akua?
[No, because] he has shown each of us what is good [to do]; he has shown [RHQ] us what he requires each of us [to do]: He wants us to do what is just/fair and to love and to be merciful [to others], and [he wants us] to live humbly [while we fellowship] with him, our God.
9 Ke kahea mai nei ka leo o Iehova i ke kulanakauhale, A o ka mea naauao e ike i kou inoa; E hoolohe oukou i ka hoopai aua, a me ka mea nana ia i hoike mai.
“I am Yahweh, so if you are wise, you should revere me. I am calling out to [you people of] Jerusalem, ‘The armies [MET] that will destroy your city are coming, so pay careful attention to me, the one who is causing them to punish you with my rod.
10 Aole anei, i keia wa, na waiwai hewa ma ka hale o ka poe hewa, A me ka epa uuku e hoowahawahaia?
Do you think that [RHQ] I should forget that you wicked people filled your homes with valuable things that you acquired by cheating [others]? Do you think that [RHQ] I should forget that you used false measures [when you bought and sold things]? Those are things that I hate.
11 E maemae anei au me na mea kaupaona hewa, A me ka aa paona hoopunipuni?
[Do you think] that [RHQ] I should say nothing about people who use scales that do not weigh correctly, and who use weights that are not accurate?
12 No ka mea, ua piha kona poe kanaka waiwai i ka hana ino, A ua olelo wahahee kona poe kanaka, A ua hoopunipuni ko lakou alelo ma ko lakou waha.
The rich people among you always act violently [to get money from poor people]. All of the people [in Jerusalem] are liars, and they [SYN] always deceive people.
13 No ia hoi, e hoonawaliwali au ia oe, ma ka hahau ana ia oe, Ma ka hooneoneo ana ia oe no kou hewa.
Therefore, I have [already] begun to get rid of you, to ruin you because of the sins that you have committed.
14 A e ai iho oe, aole e maona; Aia no iloko ou ka maule ana; A e lawe aku oe, aole e hoopakele, A o ka mea au e hoopakele ai, oia ka'u e haawi aku no ka pahikaua.
[Soon] you will eat food, but you will not have enough to satisfy you; your stomachs will [still feel as though they are] empty. You will try to save up [money], but you will not be able to save anything, because I will send your enemies to take it from you in wars [MTY].
15 E lulu iho no oe, aka, aole oe e ohi mai; E hehi iho oe i na oliva, aole nae e poniia oe i ka aila; A i ka waina hou, aole nae oe e inu i ka waina.
You will plant [seeds], but you will not harvest [anything]. You will press olives, but [others], not you, will use the [olive] oil. You will trample on grapes [and make wine from the juice], but [others], not you, will drink the wine.
16 No ka mea, ua malamaia na kanawai o Omeri, A me na hana a pau a ko ka hale o Ahaba, A ua hele oukou ma ko lakou manao; Nolaila, e hoolilo aku ai au ia oe i neoneo, A i kona poe kanaka i mea hoowahawahaia; A e lawe oukou i ka hoino o kuu poe kanaka.
[Those things will happen to you because] you obey [only] the wicked laws of [King] Omri, and [you do the terrible things that wicked King] Ahab and his descendants commanded. So, I will destroy your [country], and I will cause your people to be despised; people [of other nations] will insult you.’”
