< Ieremia 24 >
Yahweh shewed me, and lo! two baskets of figs, which had been set before the temple of Yahweh, —after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive, Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and the princes of Judah and the carpenters and the smiths out of Jerusalem, and had brought them into Babylon: —
2 Hookahi hinai fiku maikai loa, e like me na fiku oo mua; a o kela hinai, he fiku inoino, aole pono ke aiia, no ko lakou inoino loa.
the one basket, was of very good figs, like the first-ripe figs; and, the other basket, was of very bad figs, which could not be eaten for badness.
3 Alaila, olelo mai la o Iehova ia'u. Heaha kau e ike nei, e Ieremia? I aku la au, He mau fiku; o na fiku maikai, ua maikai loa, a o na fiku ino, ua inoino loa, aole pono ke aiia, no ko lakou inoino loa.
Then said Yahweh unto me, —What canst thou see, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs: the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten, for badness.
4 Hiki hou mai la ka olelo a Iehova ia'u, i mai la,
Then came the word of Yahweh unto me, saying:
5 Ke olelo mai nei o Iehova, ke Akua o ka Iseraela penei; E like me keia mau fiku maikai, pela no wau e hoomaopopo ai i ka poe i lawepioia o ka Iuda, ka poe a'u i kipaku aku ai, mai keia wahi aku a i ka aina o ko Kaledea, i mea e pono ai.
Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Like these good figs, so, will I regard them of Judah who are carried into captivity, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good.
6 No ka mea, e kau no ko'u maka maluna o lakou i mea e pono ai, a e lawe hou mai no wau ia lakou i keia aina; a e kukulu no wau ia lakou, aole au e wawahi ia lakou, e kanu no wau ia lakou, aole e uhuki ia lakou.
Therefore will I set mine eye upon them for good, and will bring them back upon this land, —and will build them up, and not pull them down, and will plant them and not root them up;
7 A e haawi no wau ia lakou i naau e ike mai ai ia'u, owau no o Iehova; a o lakou auanei ko'u poe kanaka, a owau auanei ko lakou Akua; no ka mea, e hoi mai no lakou ia'u me ko lakou naau a pau.
and will give them a heart to know, me, that, I, am Yahweh, So shall they become my people, And, I, will become their God; for they will return unto me with all their heart.
8 A e like me na fiku inoino, pono ole ke aiia no ka inoino loa; He oiaio, wahi a Iehova, pela no wau e haawi aku ai ia Zedekia, i ke alii o ka Iuda, a me kana poe alii, a me ke koena o Ierusalema, ka poe e koe ana ma keia aina, a me ka poe e noho ana ma ka aina o Aigupita;
And like the bad figs, which cannot be eaten for badness, Surely thus, saith Yahweh—so, will I deliver up Zedekiah king of Judah, and his princes and the remnant of Jerusalem that remain in this land, and them who are dwelling in the land of Egypt;
9 A haawi no wau ia lakou e laweia iloko o na aupuni a pau o ka honua nei, i mea hoopai, a i mea hoowahawaha, a i mea henehene, a i mea kuamuamu, a i mea hoopoino, ma na wahi a pau, a'u e kipaku aku ai ia lakou.
yea I will deliver them up, as a terror of calamity, to all the kingdoms of the earth, —as a reproach and as a byword, as a mockery and as a contempt, in every place whither I will drive them;
10 A e hoouna aku au i ka pahikaua, a me ka wi, a me ka mai ahulau iwaena o lakou, a hoopauia lakou, mai ka aina a'u i haawi aku ai ia lakou, a i ko lakou poe makua.
and I will send among them, sword famine and pestilence, —until they are consumed from off the soil which I gave to them and to their fathers.
