< Isaia 28 >

1 A UWE ka lei hookiekie o na mea ona ma Eperaima, Ka pua mae wale o kona nani maikai, Ka mea ma ko poo o ka papu momona, O na mea i ona i ka waina!
Woe to the crown of pride, the hirelings of Ephraim, the flower that has fallen from the glory of the top of the fertile mountain, they that are drunken without wine.
2 Aia hoi, ka mea ikaika, ka mea i hooikaikaia e ka Haku, Nana no e hoohiolo ia lakou ilalo i ka lepo me kona lima, E like me ka huahekili e haule ana, E like hoi me ka ino nui e make ai, A me ka wai kahe he nui e holo moku ana.
Behold, the anger of the Lord is strong and severe, as descending hail where there is no shelter, violently descending; as a great body of water sweeping away the soil, he shall make rest for the land.
3 Malalo o na wawae e hahiia'i Na lei hookiekie o na mea ona ma Eperaima.
The crown of pride, the hirelings of Ephraim, shall be beaten down with the hands and with the feet.
4 Ka pua mae wale o kona nani maikai, Ka mea ma ke poo o ka papu momona, E like auanei ia me ka hua mua o ke kau, O ka mea nana aku a ike ia mea, Moni koke no ia i ka loaa ana i kona lima.
And the fading flower of the glorious hope on the top of the high mountain shall be as the early fig; he that sees it, before he takes it into his hand, will desire to swallow it down.
5 A hiki aku i kela la, E lilo no o Iehova i lei alii maikai, A i papale alii nani, no ka poe i koe o kona poe kanaka,
In that day the Lord of hosts shall be the crown of hope, the woven [crown] of glory, to the remnant of the people.
6 A i uhane hooponopono maloko o ka poe hooponopono, A i ikaika hoi iloko o ka poe i hoohuli i ke kaua ana i ka pukapa.
They shall be left in the spirit of judgement for judgement, and for the strength of them that hinder slaying.
7 Ua kunewanewa lakou nei, no ka waina, Ua hikaka lakou no ka inu awaawa, Ua kunewanewa ke kahunapule, a me ke kaula no ka inu awaawa, Ua oki loa lakou i ka waina, Ua hikaka lakou no ka inu awaawa, Ua kunewanewa lakou ma ka hihio, Ua kulanalana ko lakou hooponopono ana.
For these have trespassed through wine; they have erred through strong drink: the priest and the prophet are mad through strong drink, they are swallowed up by reason of wine, they have staggered through drunkenness; they have erred: this is [their] vision.
8 No ka mea, ua paapu na papaaina a pau i ka luai, I ka paumaele hoi, aohe wahi kaawale.
A curse shall devour this counsel, for this [is their] counsel for the sake of covetousness.
9 Ia wai la ia e ao mai ai i ka ike? E hoike mai oia i ka naauao ia wai? I ka poe anei i ukuhiia i ka waiu? I ka poe anei i auaia i ka u?
To whom have we reported evils? and to whom have we reported a message? [even to those] that are weaned from the milk, who are drawn from the breast.
10 No ka mea, he rula maluna o ka rula, He rula maluna o ka rula; He loina maluna o ka loina, He loina maluna o ka loina; He uuku ma keia wahi. He uuku ma kela wahi.
Expect you affliction on affliction, hope upon hope: yet a little, [and] yet a little,
11 He oiaio no me ka lehelehe namu a me ka olelo o ka malihini, E olelo mai ai oia i keia poe kanaka.
by reason of the contemptuous [words] of the lips, by means of another language: for they shall speak to this people, saying to them,
12 Ia ia i olelo aku ai ia lakou, Eia ka maha e hoomaha oukou i ka poe maloeloe, Eia ka hooluolu; aole nae lakou i hoolohe.
This is the rest to him that is hungry, and this is the calamity: but they would not hear.
13 Nolaila i hiki ai ka olelo a Iehova ia lakou, He rula maluna o ka rula, He rula maluna o ka rula; He loina maluna o ka loina, He loina maluna o ka loina; He uuku ma keia wahi, He uuku ma kela wahi; I hele ai lakou a hina ihope, a lukuia, I hoopaheleia hoi, a paa.
Therefore the oracle of God shall be to them affliction on affliction, hope on hope, yet a little, [and] yet a little, that they may go and fall backward; and they shall be crushed and shall be in danger, and shall be taken.
14 Nolaila, e hoolohe oukou i ka olelo a Iehova, e na kanaka hoowahawaha, Ka poe e noho alii ana maluna o keia poe kanaka ma Ierusalema.
Therefore hear you the word of the Lord, you afflicted men, and you princes of this people that is in Jerusalem.
15 No ka mea, ua olelo oukou, Ua hana makou i berita me ka make, Ua hookuikahi makou me ko ka po; A hiki mai ka hahau ana a mahuahua, Aole ia e hiki mai io makou nei; No ia mea, ua hoolilo makou i ka wahahee i puuhonua no makou, Ua huna makou ia makou iho iloko o ka hoopunipuni. (Sheol h7585)
Because you have said, We have made a covenant with Hades, and agreements with death; if the rushing storm should pass, it shall not come upon us: we have made falsehood our hope, and by falsehood shall we be protected: (Sheol h7585)
16 No ia mea, peneia ka olelo ana mai a ka Haku, a Iehova, Aia hoi, ke hoonoho nei au ma Ziona, He pohaku, he pohaku i hoaoia, He pohaku kihi, ua maikai, He poliaku kumu i hoonoho paa ia: O ka mea i hilinai aku ia ia, aole ia e hee.
Therefore thus says the Lord, [even] the Lord, Behold, I lay for the foundations of Sion a costly stone, a choice, a corner-stone, a precious [stone], for its foundations; and he that believes [on him] shall by no means be ashamed.
17 E hoopai pololei aku au ma ke kaula, A e hooponopono aku au ma ka hoailona kupono; A na ka huahekili e hoopau aku i ka puuhonua wahahee, A e halanaia i ka wai, kahi e pee aku ai.
And I will cause judgement [to be] for hope, and my compassion shall be for [just] measures, and you that trust vainly in falsehood [shall fall]: for the storm shall by no means pass by you,
18 E hoopauia auanei ko oukou berita me ka make, Aole e kupaa ka oukou kuikahi ana me ka po; I ka wa e hiki mai ai ka hahau ana a mahuahua, E hahiia oukou ilalo e ia. (Sheol h7585)
except it also take away your covenant of death, and your trust in Hades shall by no means stand: if the rushing storm should come upon you, you shall be beaten down by it. (Sheol h7585)
19 I ka wa e puka mai ai ia, e hoopaa mai no ia ia oukou; He oiaio no e hiki mai ia i kela kakahiaka i keia kakahiaka, A i ke ao no hoi a me ka po; A e lilo no ka lohe wale i mea e makau ai.
Whenever it shall pass by, it shall take you; morning by morning it shall pass by in the day, and in the night there shall be an evil hope. Learn to hear,
20 No ka mea, ua pokole kahi moe, aole hiki ke hoomoe loa malaila; Ua ololi kahi kapa moe, aole hiki ke uhi ia ia iho.
you that are distressed; we can’t fight, but we are ourselves too weak for you to be gathered.
21 No ka mea, e like me ia ma ka mauna o Perazima, Pela no e ala mai ai o Iehova; E like me ia ma ke kahawai o Gibeona, Pela no ia e huhu mai ai, I hana'i oia i kana hana, i kana hana kupanaha hoi; I hoopaa hoi oia i kana hana, kana hana ano e.
The Lord shall rise up as a mountain of ungodly [men], and shall be in the valley of Gabaon; he shall perform his works with wrath, [even] a work of bitterness, and his wrath shall deal strangely, and his destruction shall be strange.
22 Ano hoi, mai hoowahawaha oukou, O hoopaa loa ia ko oukou mau kupee; No ka mea, ua lohe au i ka hoopau ana, i hooholoia, Na ka Haku na Iehova o na kaua, i ka aina a pau.
Therefore do not you rejoice, neither let your bands be made strong; for I have heard of works finished and cut short by the Lord of hosts, which he will execute upon all the earth.
23 E haliu mai oukou, a e hoolohe i ko'u leo, E haliu mai oukou, a e hoolohe i ka'u olelo ana.
Listen, and hear my voice; attend, and hear my words.
24 O ka mea hana me ka oopalau, E hana anei ia i na la a pau e kanu ai? E wawahi ana, a e kuikui ana ia i puupuu lepo o kona aina?
Will the ploughman plough all the day? or will he prepare the seed beforehand, before he tills the ground?
25 A hana aku oia i ka lepo a maniania, Aole anei ia i lulu iho i ke kumino eleele, A kanu no hoi i ke kumino? A lulu i ka hua palaoa maikai, A me ka bale, a me ka palaoa eleele, Ma kona wahi iho?
Does he not, when he has levelled the surface thereof, then sow the small black poppy, or cumin, and afterward sow wheat, and barley, and millet, and bread-corn in your borders?
26 Ao mai no kona Akua ia ia ma ka hooponopono, A hoike mai no hoi ia ia.
So you shall be chastened by the judgement of your God, and shall rejoice.
27 Aole i kuiia ke kumino eleele i ka mea kui, Aole i hookaaia ka mea kaa maluna o ke kumino; Aka, ua kuiia ke kumino eleele i ka laau, A me ke kumino hoi i ka laau kui.
For the black poppy is not cleansed with harsh treatment, nor will a wagon-wheel pass over the cumin; but the black poppy is threshed with a rod, and the cumin shall be eaten with bread;
28 Kuiia no ka palaoa a wali, No ka mea, aole makemake ia i ka hahi loihi ana, Aole hoi e hookaa aku i ke kaa o kona kaa, Aole hoi e hahi aku na lio ona ia mea.
for I will not be angry with you for ever, neither shall the voice of my anger crush you.
29 I puka mai no keia mai o Iehova o na kaua mai, Ka mea kupanaha ma ka noonoo ana, A nui loa no hoi kona ike.
And these signs came forth from the Lord of hosts. Take counsel, exalt vain comfort.
