< Isaia 26 >

1 A HIKI aku ia la, e oliia no keia oli ana, Ma ka aina o ka Iuda; He kulanakauhale paa ko makou; O ke ola no kana e hoonoho ai, i pa, i pakaua no hoi.
In that day sung is this song in the land of Judah: 'We have a strong city, Salvation He doth make walls and bulwark.
2 E wehe i na pukapa, i komo iloko ka lahuikanaka pono, Ka poe hoi i malama i ka oiaio.
Open ye the gates, that enter may a righteous nation, Preserving stedfastness.
3 Ka mea i kupaa ka manao, E malama ana oe ia ia me ka malu loa, No ka mea, ua hilinai aku oia ia oe.
An imagination supported Thou fortifiest peace — peace! For in Thee it is confident.
4 E hilinai aku oukou ia Iehova a i ka manawa pau ole; No ka mea, ma ka Haku, ma o IEHOVA la ka hoomalu, a i ka manawa pau ole.
Trust ye in Jehovah for ever, For in Jah Jehovah [is] a rock of ages,
5 No ka mea, ua hoohaahaa oia i ka poe i noho ma kahi kiekie; Ua hoohaahaa oia i ke kulanakauhale kiekie, Ua hoohaahaa oia ia ia ma ka honua, Ua hoopili oia ia wahi ilalo i ka lepo.
For He bowed down the dwellers on high, A city set on high He maketh low, He maketh it low unto the earth, He causeth it to come unto the dust,
6 E hahi ana no ka wawae maluna ona, O na wawae o ka poe i hune, a me na kapuwai o ka poe i nele.
Tread it down doth a foot, Feet of the poor — steps of the weak.
7 O ka aoao o ka poe i pono, ua pololei ia. O oe ka mea pololei e hoopololei i ke ala o ka poe pono.
The path for the righteous [is] uprightness, O upright One, The path of the righteous Thou dost ponder.
8 Ma ke ala o kou mau kanawai, e Iehova, Ua hilinai aku makou ia oe, O ka makemake o ko makou naau, i kou inoa ia a me ka hoomanao aku ia oe.
Also, [in] the path of Thy judgments, O Jehovah, we have waited [for] Thee, To Thy name and to Thy remembrance [Is] the desire of the soul.
9 Me ko'u naau au i makemake aku ai ia oe i ka po; He oiaio, ua imi aku au ia oe i kakahiaka me ko'u uhane iloko o'u; No ka mea, i ka wa e hooponopono ai oe ma ka honua, E ao no na kanaka o keia ao i ka pono.
[With] my soul I desired Thee in the night, Also, [with] my spirit within me I seek Thee earnestly, For when Thy judgments [are] on the earth, The inhabitants of the world have learned righteousness.
10 E lokomaikaiia ka poe hewa, Aole nae ia e ao i ka pono; Ma ka aina o ka pololei, e hana kekee no ia, Aole hoi e manao aku i ka nani o Iehova.
The wicked findeth favour, He hath not learned righteousness, In a land of straightforwardness he dealeth perversely, And seeth not the excellency of Jehovah.
11 Ua hapaiia kou lima, e Iehova, Aole nae lakou i nana; E ike no nae lakou me ka hilahila, I kou aloha nui i na kanaka ou, E oiaio no, e ai no ke ahi i kou poe enemi.
O Jehovah, high [is] Thy hand — they see not, They see the zeal of the people, and are ashamed, Also, the fire — Thine adversaries, consumeth them.
12 E Iehova, e haawi mai ana no oe i ka malu no makou; No ka mea, ua hana no oe i ka makou hana a pau no makou.
O Jehovah, Thou appointest peace to us, For, all our works also Thou hast wrought for us.
13 E Iehova, ko makou Akua, Ua noho mai na haku e, i alii maluna o makou, aole oe; Aka, ia oe wale no a me kou inoa makou e hookaulana aku ai.
O Jehovah our God, lords have ruled us besides Thee, Only, by Thee we make mention of Thy name.
14 Ua make ia poe, aole lakou e ola; Ua nawaliwali lakou, aole lakou e ku hou mai: Nolaila oe i hoopai mai, a luku mai ia lakou, A ua hooki loa oe i ka manao ana ia lakou.
Dead — they live not, Rephaim, they rise not, Therefore Thou hast inspected and dost destroy them, Yea, thou destroyest all their memory.
15 Ua hoomahuahua oe i ka lahuikanaka, e Iehova, Ua hoomahuahua oe i ka lahuikanaka, ua hoonaniia oe; Ua hoopalahalaha ae oe i na mokuna a pau o ka aina.
Thou hast added to the nation, O Jehovah, Thou hast added to the nation, Thou hast been honoured, Thou hast put far off all the ends of earth.
16 E Iehova, maloko o ke kaumaha, ua imi aku lakou ia oe, I ka wa i hookaumaha ai oe ia lakou, nonoi ikaika loa aku lakou.
O Jehovah, in distress they missed Thee, They have poured out a whisper, Thy chastisement [is] on them.
17 E like me ka wahine hapai, a kokoke mai kona manawa e hanau ai, Ua nui kona eha, a uwe iho oia no ke kuakoko ana; Pela no makou imua ou, e Iehova.
When a pregnant woman cometh near to the birth, She is pained — she crieth in her pangs, So we have been from Thy face, O Jehovah.
18 Ua hapai no makou, ua nahu kuakoko, Ua hanau hoi makou, he mea me he makani la; Aole i hanaia ka mea e ola'i ma ka aina, Aole hoi i haule na kanaka o keia ao.
We have conceived, we have been pained. We have brought forth as it were wind, Salvation we do not work in the earth, Nor do the inhabitants of the world fall.
19 E ola auanei kou poe i make, O ko'u poe i make, e ala mai no lakou: E ala mai, e oli oukou, e ka poe e noho ana ma ka lepo, No ka mea, o kou hau, o ka hau ia maluna o na mea ulu, E hoolei aku no ka aina i ka poe i make.
'Thy dead live — My dead body they rise. Awake and sing, ye dwellers in the dust, For the dew of herbs [is] thy dew, And the land of Rephaim thou causest to fall.
20 E hele mai, e ko'u poe kanaka, E komo oukou iloko o ko oukou keena malu, E pani hoi i ko oukou puka mahope o oukou; E huna ia oe iho no ka manawa uuku, A hala aku ka inaina.
Come, My people, enter into thy inner chambers, And shut thy doors behind thee, Hide thyself shortly a moment till the indignation pass over.
21 No ka mea, aia hoi, o Iehova, ke puka mai la, mai kona wahi mai, E hoopai i ka hewa o na kanaka maluna o ka honua; A e hoike aku no ka honua i ke koko iloko ona, Aole e uhi hou i kona poe i pepehiia,
For, lo, Jehovah is coming out of His place, To charge the iniquity of the inhabitant of the earth upon him, And revealed hath the earth her blood, Nor doth she cover any more her slain!'
