< Isaia 2 >
1 KA olelo i hoikeia mai ia Isaia, ke keiki a Amosa, no ka Iuda, a me ko Ierusalema.
The thing that Isaiah son of Amoz hath seen concerning Judah and Jerusalem:
2 E hiki mai no keia i na la mahope, E kukulu paa ia ka puu o ka hale o Iehova maluna o na mauna, A e hookiekieia maluna o na puu; A e holo no iloko ona na lahuikanaka a pau.
And it hath come to pass, In the latter end of the days, Established is the mount of Jehovah's house, Above the top of the mounts, And it hath been lifted up above the heights, And flowed unto it have all the nations.
3 A e nui loa na kanaka e hele me ka olelo, E hele mai e pii kakou i ka mauna o Iehova, I ka hale hoi o ke Akua o Iakoba; Nana no e ao mai ia kakou i kona mau aoao, I hele ai kakou ma kona mau alanui. No ka mea, mai Ziona aku e laha aku ai ke kanawai, A o ka olelo a Iehova hoi, mai Ierusalema aku.
And gone have many peoples and said, 'Come, and we go up unto the mount of Jehovah, Unto the house of the God of Jacob, And He doth teach us of His ways, And we walk in His paths, For from Zion goeth forth a law, And a word of Jehovah from Jerusalem.
4 Nana no e hooponopono mawaena o ko na aina, E ao mai hoi i na lahuikanaka he nui loa. E kui lakou i ko lakou mau pahikaua i oo palau, A me ko lakou mau ihe hoi, i pahi paipai; Aole e hapai ko kekahi aina i ka pahikaua, e ka e i ko kekahi aina, Aole hoi lakou e ao hou i ke kaua.
And He hath judged between the nations, And hath given a decision to many peoples, And they have beat their swords to ploughshares, And their spears to pruning-hooks, Nation doth not lift up sword unto nation, Nor do they learn any more — war.
5 E ko ka hale o Iehova, e hele mai, E hele kakou ma ka malamalama o Iehova.
O house of Jacob, come, And we walk in the light of Jehovah.'
6 He oiaio no, ua haalele oe i kou poe kanaka, I ko ka hale hoi o Iakoba; No ka mea, ua piha lakou i na mea mai ka hikina mai, I ka poe nana ao, e like me ko Pilisetia: A launa no hoi lakou i na keiki a na malihini.
For Thou hast left Thy people, the house of Jacob. For they have been filled from the east, And [are] sorcerers like the Philistines, And with the children of strangers strike hands.
7 Ua piha ko lakou aina i ke kala, a me ke gula, Aole e pau i ka heluia ko lakou waiwai; Ua piha hoi ko lakou aina i na lio, Aole e pau i ka heluia na kaakaua o lakou.
And its land is full of silver and gold, And there is no end to its treasures, And its land is full of horses, And there is no end to its chariots,
8 Ua piha ko lakou aina i na'kua lapuwale; Kulou no lakou ilalo imua o ka hana a ko lakou mau lima, Imua hoi o ka mea a ko lakou mau manamana lima i hana'i.
And its land is full of idols, To the work of its hands it boweth itself, To that which its fingers have made,
9 Nolaila, e kulou no ke kanaka uuku, E hoohaahaaia no hoi ke kanaka nui; Aole nae oe e kala mai ia lakou.
And the low boweth down, and the high is humbled, And Thou acceptest them not.
10 E komo oe iloko o ka pohaku, e pee hoi iloko o ka lepo, No ka makau ia Iehova, a no ka nani hoi o kona hanohano.
Enter into a rock, and be hidden in dust, Because of the fear of Jehovah, And because of the honour of His excellency.
11 E kulou auanei na maka kiekie o kanaka, A e hoohaahaaia ko kanaka lana haakei, O Iehova wale no ke hookiekieia i kela la.
The haughty eyes of man have been humbled, And bowed down hath been the loftiness of men, And set on high hath Jehovah alone been in that day.
12 E kau mai no ka la o Iehova o na kaua, Maluna o na mea hanohano a kehakeha a pau, Maluna hoi o kela mea keia mea i hookiekieia, a e hoohaahaaia no oia;
For a day [is] to Jehovah of Hosts, For every proud and high one, And for every lifted up and low one,
13 Maluna o na laau kedera a pau o Lebanona, na mea loloa a kiekie, A maluna hoi o na laau oka a pau o Basana;
And for all cedars of Lebanon, The high and the exalted ones, And for all oaks of Bashan,
14 Maluna o na kuahiwi kiekie a pau, A me na puu a pau i hookiekieia:
And for all the high mountains, And for all the exalted heights,
15 Maluna o na halekiai kiekie a pau, A me na pa kaua kiekie a pau:
And for every high tower, And for every fenced wall,
16 Maluna o na moku a pau o Taresisa, A me na mea milimili a pau i mahaloia.
And for all ships of Tarshish, And for all desirable pictures.
17 E kulou no ilalo ko ke kanaka haaheo, E hoohaahaaia hoi ka manao kiekie o ke kanaka; O Iehova wale no ke hookiekieia i kela la.
And bowed down hath been the haughtiness of man, And humbled the loftiness of men, And set on high hath Jehovah alone been in that day.
18 A e nalowale loa na akua lapuwale.
And the idols — they completely pass away.
19 E komo hoi na kanaka iloko o na ana pohaku a me na lua o ka lepo, No ka makau ia Iehova, a no ka nani hoi o kona hanohano. Ia ia e ku ai iluna, e hoonaueue ai i ka honua.
And [men] have entered into caverns of rocks, And into caves of dust, Because of the fear of Jehovah, And because of the honour of His excellency, In His rising to terrify the earth.
20 Ia la la e kiola aku no ke kanaka i kona mau akua kala, A me kona mau akua gula, ana i hana'i i mea hoomana, E lilo i na iole a me na opeapea.
In that day doth man cast his idols of silver, And his idols of gold, That they have made for him to worship, To moles, and to bats,
21 A hele lakou iloko o na ana pohaku, Iloko hoi o na lua ma ka pali paa, No ka makau ia Iehova, A no ka nani hoi o kona hanohano, Ia ia e ku ai iluna e hoonaueue ai i ka honua.
To enter into cavities of the rocks, And into clefts of the high places, Because of the fear of Jehovah, And because of the honour of His excellency, In His rising to terrify the earth.
22 Mai hilinai aku oukou i ke kanaka, Nona ka hanu ma kona mau pukaihu, No ka mea, heaha ia, i manaoia'i oia?
Cease for you from man, Whose breath [is] in his nostrils, For — in what is he esteemed?
