< Ezekiela 15 >
1 HIKI mai la hoi ka olelo a Iehova ia'u i mai la,
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 E ke keiki a ke kanaka, heaha ka oi o ke kumu waina mamua o ke kumu laau e ae, a mamua o ka lala laau iwaena o na laau o ka ululaau?
And you, son of man—of all the wood, of the branches that are among the trees of the forest, what shall be made of the wood of the vine?
3 E laweia anei kauwahi laau ona e hana'i i kekahi hana? E lalau anei kanaka i kahi kui noloko o ia mea e kau aku i kekahi ipu malaila?
Will they take wood of it to make [it fit] for work? will they take of it a peg to hang any vessel upon it?
4 Aia hoi, ua hooleiia ia iloko o ke ahi i wahie, a ua pau i ke ahi na welau elua ona, a wela hoi ka waena ona. He mea pono anei ia no ka hana?
It is only given to the fire to be consumed; the fire consumes that which is yearly pruned of it, and it is utterly gone. Will it be useful for [any] work?
5 Aia hoi, i kona okoa ana, aole pono ia no ka hana. A i ka pau ana i ke ahi, a wela hoi, ua pono anei ia no kahi hana?
Not even while it is yet whole will it be [useful] for [any] work: if the fire shall have utterly consumed it, will it still be [fit] for work?
6 Nolaila ke olelo nei Iehova ka Haku penei; E like me ke kumu waina iwaena o na kumu laau o ka ululaau a'u i haawi ai i ke ahi i wahie, pela o haawi aku ai au i na kanaka o Ierusalema.
Therefore say, Thus says the Lord, As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given up to the fire to be consumed, so have I given up the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7 A e hooku e au i ko'u maka ia lakou; e puka lakou mai loko aku o kekahi ahi, a e pau lakou i kekahi ahi; a e ike oukou owau no Iehova i ko'u wa e hooku e ai i ko'u wahi maka ia lakou.
And I will set my face against them; they shall go forth of the fire, and [yet] fire shall devour them; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have set my face against them.
8 A e hooneoneo loa au i keia aina, no ka lakou hana hewa ana, wahi a Iehova ka Haku.
And I will give up the land to ruin, because they have utterly transgressed, says the Lord.
