< II Samuela 8 >
1 MAHOPE aku, pepehi aku la o Davida i na Pilisetia, a hoolilo iho la ia lakou malalo ona: a lawe ae la hoi o Davida i ke kulanakauhale alii mailoko ae o ka lima o na Pilisetia.
And it comes to pass afterward that David strikes the Philistines, and humbles them, and David takes the bridle of the metropolis out of the hand of the Philistines.
And he strikes Moab, and measures them with a line, causing them to lie down on the earth, and he measures two lines to put to death, and the fullness of the line to keep alive, and the Moabites are for servants to David, bearers of a present.
3 Pepehi aku la hoi o Davida ia Hadadezera ke keiki a Rehoba, ke alii o Zoba, ia ia i hele aku ai e hoopaa i kona palena aina ma ka muliwai o Euperate.
And David strikes Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, in his going to bring back his power by the River [Euphrates];
4 Lawe pio aku la hoi o Davida mai ona aku la i ua hoohololio hookahi tausani me na haneri ehiku, a me na tausani kanaka hele wawae he iwakalua; a oki iho la o Davida i ke olona wawae o na lio no na halekaa; aka, ua hookoe ia i hookahi haneri o na lio halekaa.
and David captures from him one thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and David utterly destroys the whole of the charioteers; he leaves only one hundred of their charioteers.
5 A i ka hele ana mai o ko Suria no Damaseko e kokua mamuli o Hadadezera ke alii o Zoba, pepehi iho la o Davida i na kanaka he iwakalua kumamalua tausani o ko Suria.
And Aram of Damascus comes to give help to Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David strikes twenty-two thousand men of Aram;
and David puts garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and Aram is for a servant to David, carrying a present; and YHWH saves David wherever he has gone;
7 Hao ae la o Davida i na palekaua gula maluna o na kauwa a Hadadezera, a lawe mai la ia mau mea i Ierusaluma.
and David takes the shields of gold which were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brings them to Jerusalem;
8 Lawe mai la hoi o Davida ke alii i ke keleawe he nui loa, mai Beta mai, a mai Berotai mai, na kulanakauhale o Hadadezera.
and from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David has taken very much bronze.
9 A lohe ae la o Toi ke alii o Hamata ua pepehi aku o Davida i ka poe kaua a pau no Hadadezera,
And Toi king of Hamath hears that David has struck all the force of Hadadezer,
10 Alaila, hoouna mai la o Toi ia Iorama kana keiki io Davida la ke alii e ike ia ia, a e hoalohaloha ia ia, no ka mea, ua kaua aku oia ia Hadadezera, a ua luku aku ia ia: no ka mea, he kanaka kaua o Toi me Hadadezera; a ma kona lima na kiaha kala a me na kiaha gula a me na kiaha keleawe.
and Toi sends his son Joram to King David to ask of him of welfare, and to bless him (because that he has fought against Hadadezer, and strikes him, for Hadadezer had been a man of wars [with] Toi), and in his hand have been vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze,
11 Hoolaa aku la no o Davida ia mau mea no Iehova, me ke kala a me ke gula ana i hoolaa aku ai o na lahuikanaka a pau ana i hookauwa aku ai:
also King David sanctified them to YHWH, with the silver and the gold which he sanctified of all the nations which he subdued:
12 O ko Suria, o ko Moaba, a o ka poe mamo a Amona, o ko Pilisetia, a o ko Ameleka, a o ka waiwai pio no Hadadezera ke keiki a Rehoba, ke alii no Zoba.
of Aram, and of Moab, and of the sons of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob king of Zobah.
13 Kaulana ae la ka inoa o Davida i kona wa i hoi mai ai, mai ka pepehi ana i ko Suria ma ke wawa paakai, he umikumamawalu tausani kanaka.
And David makes a name in his turning back from his striking Aram in the Valley of Salt—eighteen thousand;
14 Hana iho la hoi ia i na pakaua ma Edoma; ma Edoma a pau i hana iho ai oia i na pakaua; a lilo mai la ko Edoma a pau i kauwa na Davida. A malama mai la o Iehova ia Davida i na wahi a pau ana i hele aku ai.
and he puts garrisons in Edom—he has put garrisons in all of Edom, and all Edom are servants to David; and YHWH saves David wherever he has gone.
15 Nohoalii iho la o Davida maluna o ka Iseraela a pau; a hooko aku la o Davida i ke kanawai, me ka hoopono aku i na kanaka ona a pau.
And David reigns over all Israel, and David is doing judgment and righteousness to all his people,
16 A o Ioaba ke keiki a Zeruia, oia ka luna kaua; a o Iehosapata ke keiki a Ahiluda ke kakaolelo;
and Joab son of Zeruiah [is] over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] remembrancer,
17 A o Zadoka ke keiki a Ahituba, a me Ahimeleka ke keiki a Abiatara na kahuna; a o Seraia ke kakauolelo;
and Zadok son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech son of Abiathar, [are] priests, and Seraiah [is] scribe,
18 A o Benaia ke keiki a Iehoida, maluna ia o ka poe Kereti, a me ka poe Peleti; a o na keiki a Davida, he mau keiki alii lakou.
and Benaiah son of Jehoiada [is over] both the Cherethite and the Pelethite, and the sons of David have been ministers.
