II Oihanaalii 19

1 HOI mai la o Iehosapata ke alii o Iuda i kona hale iho ma Ierusalema me ka maluhia.

And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace, to Jerusalem.

2 Hele ae la iwaho e halawai pu me ia o Iehu, ke keiki a Hanani ke kaula, olelo aku la i ke alii ia Iehosapata, E pono anei oe ke kokua i ka poe hewa, a e aloha i ka poe i inaina aku ia Iehova? No keia mea, aia maluna ou ka huhu, mai o Iehova mai.

And there came out to meet him Jehu the son of Chanani the seer, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldst thou help the wicked, and love those that hate the Lord? and because of this there is wrath over thee from before the Lord.

3 Ua loaa no nae kekahi mau mea maikai iloko ou, no ka mea, ua kipaku oe i na kii o Asetarota mai ka aina aku, a ua hoomakaukau oe i kou naau e imi i ke Akua.

Nevertheless there are good things found on thee; because thou hast removed the Asheroth out of the land, and hast directed thy heart firmly to seek God.

4 Noho iho la o Iehosapata ma Ierusalema, a kaahele ae la ia iwaena o na kanaka, mai Beereseba a i ka mauna o Eperaima, a hoohuli oia ia lakou ia Iehova i ke Akua o ko lakou poe kupuna.

And Jehoshaphat remained at Jerusalem; but he went out again through the people from Beer-sheba' as far as the mountain of Ephraim, and caused them to return unto the Lord the God of their fathers.

5 Hoonoho oia i mau lunakanawai ma ka aina, ma na kulanakauhale o Iuda i paa i ka pa a pau, ma kela kulanakauhale, keia kulanakauhale.

And he appointed judges in the land in all the fortified cities of Judah, in city by city.

6 Olelo aku la oia i na lunakanawai, E noonoo oukou i na mea a oukou e hana'i; no ka mea, aole no na kanaka oukou e hooponopono ai, no Iehova no, a oia pu kekahi me oukou i ka hooponopono ana.

And he said to the judges, Look [well] at what ye are doing; because not for man are ye to judge, but for the Lord, who is with you in pronouncing judgment.

7 Nolaila e kauia mai ka makau ia Iehova maluna o oukou, e malama, e hana hoi; no ka mea, aohe hewa me Iehova ko kakou Akua, aole ia e manao mai i ko ke kanaka kino, aole hoi ia e lawe i ke kipe.

And now let the dread of the Lord be upon you: take heed and act; for with the Lord our God there is no injustice, nor respect for persons, nor taking of bribes.

8 A ma Ierusalema hoi, ua hoonoho o Iehosapata i kekahi poe o na Levi, a me na kahuna, a me kekahi poe luna o na makua o ka Iseraela, e hookolokolo no Iehova i na mea hoopaapaa, i ko lakou hoi ana mai i Ierusalema.

But also in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat appoint some of the Levites, and the priests, and of the chiefs of the family divisions of Israel, for the [giving of] the judgment of the Lord, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.

9 Kauoha aku la oia ia lakou, i aku la, Penei oukou e hana'i me ka makau ia Iehova, a me ka oiaio a me ka naau pololei.

And he charged on them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the Lord, in faithfulness, and with an undivided heart.

And whatsoever controversy may come to you from your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, ye shall truly warn them that they incur not guilt against the Lord, and so there come wrath over you, and over your brethren: so must ye do, and ye will not incur guilt.

11 Aia hoi o Amaria ke kahuna, o ko oukou luna ia ma na oihana na Iehova; a o Zebadia, ke keiki a Isemaela, oia ka luna o ka hale o Iuda ma na mea a pau a ke alii; a o na Levi, o lakou kekahi poe luna no oukou. E hoihoi oukou, e hana, a o Iehova pu kekahi me ka mea pono.

And, behold, Amaryahu the chief priest is over you for every matter of the Lord; and Zebadyahu the son of Yishma'el, the ruler for the house of Judah, for every matter of the king; and the Levites are officers before you. Be strong and act, and may the Lord be with the good.
