1 A O na mamo a Iseraela ma ko lakou heluia'na, o na makua 'lii, na lunatausani, na lunahaneri, a o ko lakou poe ilamuku i hookauwa na ke alii i kekahi mea o na papa, na poe i hele mai iloko a puka aku iwaho ma ka malama, i na malama a pau o ka makahiki; no kela papa keia papa a pau he iwakaluakumamaha tausani lakou.

Now, the sons of Israel—as to the number of them, the ancestral chiefs—and rulers of thousands and hundreds, and their officers who waited upon the king as to any matter of the courses, who came in and went out month by month, for all the months of the year, in each course, were twenty-four thousand.

Over the first course, for the first month, was Jashobeam, son of Zabdiel, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

3 No na mamo a Pereza ka luna o na luna koa a pau o ko kaua, no ka malama mua.

Of the sons of Perez, was the chief for all the rulers of the hosts, for the first month.

4 Maluna o ka papa no ka lua o ka malama o Dodai ka Ahohi, a maluna hoi o kona papa o Mikelota kekahi luna: a ma kona papa hoi he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

And, over the course for the second month, was Dodai an Ahohite, and, of his course, was Mikloth also a chief ruler, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

5 O ke kolu o ka lunakaua no ke kolu o ka malama o Benaia ke keiki a Iehoida, he kahuna nui; a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

The ruler of the third host, for the third month, was Benaiah, son of Jehoiada the priest—a chief, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

6 O ua Benaia la ka mea ikaika iwaena o ka poe kanakolu, a ua oi maluna o ke kanakolu: a ma kona papa o Amizabada kana keiki.

The same Benaiah, was a hero of thirty, and over the thirty, —and, over his course, was Ammizabad his son.

7 O ka ha, no ka ha o ka malama, oia o Asahela ko kaikaina o Ioaba, a o Zebadia kana keiki mahope ona: a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

The fourth, for the fourth month, was Asahel, brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son, after him, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

8 O ka luna alima no ka lima o ka malama, oia o Samuta ka Izera: a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

Of the fifth, for the fifth month, the ruler, was Shamhuth the Izrahite, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

9 O ke ono, no ke ono o ka malama, oia o Ira ke keiki a Ikesa no Tekoa: a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

The sixth, for the sixth month, was Ira son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

10 O ka hiku. no ka hiku o ka malama, oia o Heleza ka Pelo, no na mamo a Eperaima; a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

The seventh, for the seventh month, was Helez the Pelonite, of the sons of Ephraim, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

11 O ka walu, no ka walu o ka malama, oia o Sibekai ka Husata, no ka Zara: a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

12 O ka iwa, no ka iwa o ka malama, oia o Abiezera no Anetota o ka Beniamina: a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

13 O ka umi, no ka umi o ka malama, oia o Maharai no Netopata, no ka Zara: a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

The tenth, for the tenth month, was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zerahites, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

14 O ka umikumamakahi, no ka umikumamakahi o ka malama, oia o Benaia no Piratona, no na mamo a Eperaima: a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the sons of Ephraim, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

15 O ka umikumamalua, no ka umikumamalua o ka malama, oia o Heledai no Netopata, na Oteniela: a ma kona papa he iwakaluakumamaha tausani.

The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel, —and, in his course, were twenty-four thousand.

Furthermore, over the tribes of Israel, the chief ruler of the Reubenites, was Eliezer, son of Zichri. Of the Simeonites, Shephatiah, son of Maacah.

17 O ka Levi, o Hasabia ke keiki a Kemuela: o ka Aarona, o Zadoka:

Of Levi, Hashabiah, son of Kemuel. Of Aaron, Zadok.

18 O ka Iuda, o Elihu no na kaikuaana o Davida: o ka Isakara, o Omeri ke keiki a Mikaela:

Of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David. Of Issachar, Omri, son of Michael.

19 O ka Zebuluna, o Isemaia ke keiki a Obadia: o ka Napetali, o Ierimota ke keiki a Azeriela:

Of Zebulun, Ishmaiah, son of Obadiah. Of Naphtali, Jeremoth, son of Azriel.

20 O na mamo a Eperaima, o Hosea ke keiki a Azazia: o ka ohana hapa a Manase, o Ioela ke keiki a Pedaia:

Of the sons of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Azaziah. Of the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel, son of Pedaiah.

21 O ka ohana hapa a Manase i Gileada, o Ido ke keiki a Zekaria: o ka Beniamina, o Iasiela ke koiki a Abenera:

Of the half of Manasseh, in Gilead, Iddo, son of Zechariah. Of Benjamin, Jaasiel, son of Abner.

22 O ka Dana, o Azareela ke keiki a Ierohama. O lakou no na luna ohana o ka Iseraela.

Of Dan, Azarel, son of Jeroham. These, were the rulers of the tribes of Israel.

23 Aole no i helu o Davida ia lakou i ka poe o ka makahiki iwakalua a malalo iho: no ka mea, ua olelo mai o Iehova, e hoonui ana oia i ka Iseraela e like me na hoku o ka lani.

But David took not the number of them, from twenty years old, and under, —because Yahweh had said, he would multiply Israel like the stars of the heavens.

Joab son of Zeruiah, began to number, but finished not, when there arose, on this account, indignation against Israel, —neither did the number come up into the account of the chronicles of King David.

And, over the treasuries of the king, was Azmaveth, son of Adiel. And, over the treasuries in the fields, in the cities, in the villages and in the castles, was Jonathan, son of Uzziah;

26 A maluna o ka poe i hana i ka hana ma ka mahinaai, e mahiai i ka aina, o Ezeri ke keiki a Keluba.

And, over the workers of the field, for the tillage of the ground, was Ezri, son of Chelub.

27 A maluna o na pawaina o Simei no Ramata: maluna o ka hua o na pawaina no na haleahuwaina o Zabedi no Sipa.

And, over the vineyards, was Shimei, the Ramathite. And, over that which was in the vineyards, for the treasuries of wine, was Zabdi, the Shiphmite.

28 Maluna noi o na laau oliva, a o na laau sukamora ma na awawa papu, o Baalahana no Gedera: a o Ioasa maluna o na haleahuaila.

And, over the olive-trees and the sycamore-trees that were in the lowland, was Baal-hanan the Gederite. And, over the treasuries of oil, was Joash.

29 A maluna o na pua bipi i hanaiia ma Sarona, o Siterai no Sarona: a maluna o na pua bipi ma na awawa, o Sapata ke keiki a Adelai:

And, over the herds that pastured in Sharon, was Shitrai, the Sharonite. And, over the herds in the vales, Shaphat, son of Adlai.

30 Maluna hoi o na kamelo, o Obila ka Isemaela: a maluna o na hoki o Iedeia no Meronota:

And, over the camels, was Obil, the Ishmaelite. And, over the asses, was Jehdeyahu the Meronothite.

31 Maluna hoi o na ohana hipa, o Iaziza ka Hagara. O lakou a pau na luna o ka waiwai o Davida ke alii.

And, over the flocks, was Jaziz, the Hagrite. All these, were rulers over the possessions that belonged to King David.

32 A o Ionatana hoi kekahi makuakane o Davida, he kuhina oia, he kanaka naauao, a he kakaaolelo: a o Iehiela ke keiki a Hakemoni, aia no ia me na keikikane a ke alii.

And, Jonathan the relative of David, was a counsellor, a man of understanding and a scribe, was he. And, Jehiel son of Hachmoni, was with the sons of the king.

33 A o Ahitopela ke kakaolelo o ke alii: a o Husai no Areka ka hoapili o ke alii.

And, Ahitophel, was counsellor to the king. And, Hushai the Archite, was the companion of the king.

34 A mahope o Ahitopela o Iehoiada ke keiki a Benaia, a me Abiatara: a o Ioaba ka lunakoa o ko ke alii poe kaua.

And, after Ahitophel, was Jehoiada son of Benaiah—and Abiathar. And, the captain of the king’s army, was Joab.
