1 Kada ka yi ƙyashin mugaye, kada ka yi sha’awar ƙungiyarsu;
Do not imitate evil men, nor desire to be among them.
2 gama leɓunansu suna maganar tā-da-na-zaune-tsaye ne.
For their mind meditates on robberies, and their lips speak deceptions.
3 Ta wurin hikima ce ake gina gida, kuma ta wurin fahimi ake kafa ta;
By wisdom shall a house be built, and by prudence shall it be strengthened.
4 ta wurin sani ɗakunanta sukan cika da kyawawan kayayyaki masu daraja.
By doctrine, the storerooms shall be filled with every substance that is precious and most beautiful.
5 Mutum mai hikima yana da iko sosai, kuma mutum mai sani yakan ƙaru da ƙarfi;
A wise man is strong, and a well-taught man is robust and valiant.
6 don yin yaƙi kana bukatar bishewa, kuma don ka yi nasara kana bukatar mashawarta masu yawa.
For war is undertaken in an orderly manner, and safety shall be where there are many counsels.
7 Hikima ta yi wa wawa nisa ƙwarai a cikin taro a ƙofar gari ba shi da ta cewa.
Wisdom is beyond the foolish; at the gate he will not open his mouth.
Whoever intends to do evil shall be called foolish.
9 Makircin wawa zunubi ne, mutane kuma sukan yi ƙyamar mai ba’a.
The intention of the foolish is sin. And the detractor is an abomination among men.
10 In ba ka da ƙarfi a lokacin wahala, ka tabbatar kai marar ƙarfi ne sosai!
If you despair, being weary in the day of anguish, your strength will be diminished.
11 Ka kuɓutar da waɗanda ake ja zuwa inda za a kashe su; ka riƙe waɗanda suke tangaɗi zuwa wajen yanka.
Rescue those who are led away to death. And do not cease from delivering those who are dragged away to a violent death.
If you would say: “I do not have sufficient strength.” He who inspects the heart, the same one understands, and nothing slips past the one who preserves your soul. And he shall repay a man according to his works.
13 Ka sha zuma, ɗana, ka sha zuma gama tana da kyau; zuma daga kaki yana da zaƙi a harshenka.
My son, eat honey, because it is good, and the honeycomb, because it is so sweet to your throat.
14 Ka kuma san cewa hikima tana da zaƙi ga rai; in ka same ta, akwai sa zuciya ta nan gaba dominka, kuma sa zuciyarka ba za tă zama a banza ba.
So, too, is the doctrine of wisdom to your soul. When you have found it, you will have hope in the end, and your hope shall not perish.
15 Kada ka kwanta kana fako kamar ɗan iska don ƙwace gidan adali, kada ka ƙwace masa wurin zama;
Do not lie in wait, and do not seek impiety in the house of the just, nor spoil his rest.
16 gama ko da adali ya fāɗi sau bakwai, yakan tashi kuma, amma bala’i kan kwantar da mugaye.
For the just one will fall seven times, and he shall rise again. But the impious will fall into evil.
17 Kada ka yi dariya sa’ad da abokin gāba ya fāɗi; sa’ad da ya yi tuntuɓe, kada ka yi farin ciki,
When your enemy will fall, do not be glad, and do not let your heart exult in his ruin,
18 in ba haka ba in Ubangiji ya gani ba zai amince ba ya kuma juye fushinsa daga gare shi.
lest perhaps the Lord see, and it displease him, and he may take away his wrath from him.
Do not contend with the most wicked, and do not be a rival to the impious.
20 gama mugu ba shi da zuciya ta nan gaba, kuma fitilar mugaye za tă mutu.
For the evil hold no hope in the future, and the lamp of the impious will be extinguished.
My son, fear the Lord, as well as the king. And do not mingle with detractors.
For their perdition shall rise up suddenly. And who knows what ruin will be for each of them?
23 Waɗannan ma maganganun masu hikima ne, Nunan sonkai a shari’a ba shi da kyau.
Likewise, these things are for the wise. It is not good to base judgment on knowledge of character.
24 Duk wanda ya ce wa mai laifi, “Ba ka da laifi”, mutane za su la’ance shi al’umma kuma za tă ce ba a san shi ba.
Those who say to the impious, “You are just,” shall be cursed by the people, and the tribes shall detest them.
25 Amma zai zama da lafiya ga duk waɗanda suka hukunta masu laifi, kuma babban albarka zai zo a kansu.
Those who argue against the impious shall be praised, and a blessing shall come upon them.
He shall kiss the lips, who responds with upright words.
27 Ka gama aikinka ka kuma shirya gonakinka; bayan haka, ka gina gidanka.
Prepare your outdoor work, and diligently cultivate your field, so that afterward, you may build your house.
Do not be a witness without cause against your neighbor. And do not mislead anyone with your lips.
Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me.” I will repay each one according to his work.
30 Na wuce cikin gonar rago, na wuce cikin gonar inabin mutumin da ba shi da azanci;
I passed by the field of a lazy man, and by the vineyard of a foolish man,
31 ƙayayyuwa sun yi girma ko’ina, ciyayi sun rufe ƙasar, katangar duwatsu duk ta rushe.
and behold, it was entirely filled with nettles, and thorns had covered its surface, and the stonewall was destroyed.
When I had seen this, I laid it up in my heart, and by this example, I received discipline.
33 Ɗan barci, ɗan gyangyaɗi, ɗan naɗin hannuwa don a huta,
You will sleep a little,” I said. “You will slumber briefly. You will fold your hands a little, so as to rest.
34 sai talauci ya shigo maka kamar’yan fashi rashi kuma ya zo maka kamar mai hari.
And destitution will overtake you like a runner, and begging will overtake you like an armed man.”
