1 Gara ka ci busasshen burodi da kwanciyar rai kuma shiru da ka je cin abinci a gidan da ke cike da biki amma da ɓacin rai.
Better is a dry morsel and quietness therewith, than an house full of feasting with strife.
2 Bawa mai hikima zai yi mulki a kan da mai rashin kunya, kuma zai raba gādo kamar ɗaya daga cikin’yan’uwansa.
A servant that dealeth wisely shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part in the inheritance among the brethren.
3 Ana gwajin azurfa da kuma zinariya da wuta, amma Ubangiji ne mai gwajin zuciya.
The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
4 Mugun mutum kan mai da hankali ga mugayen leɓuna; maƙaryaci yakan kasa kunne ga harshen ƙarairayi.
An evil-doer giveth heed to wicked lips; [and] a liar giveth ear to a mischievous tongue.
5 Duk wanda yake wa matalauta ba’a yana zagin Mahaliccinsu ne; duk wanda ya yi murna akan masifar da ta sami wani za a hukunta shi.
Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: [and] he that is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.
6 Jikoki rawanin tsofaffi ne, kuma iyaye su ne abin taƙamar’ya’yansu.
Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
7 Leɓunan basira ba su dace da wawa ba, ya ma fi muni a ce mai mulki yana da leɓunan ƙarya!
Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
8 Cin hanci kamar sihiri yake ga wanda yake ba da shi; ko’ina ya juye, yakan yi nasara.
A gift is [as] a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
9 Duk wanda ya rufe laifi yana inganta ƙauna ne, amma duk wanda ya yi ta maimaita batu yakan raba abokai na kusa.
He that covereth a transgression seeketh love: but he that harpeth on a matter separateth chief friends.
10 Tsawata kan sa mutum ya koyi basira fiye da abin da wawa zai koya ko da an dūke shi sau ɗari.
A rebuke entereth deeper into one that hath understanding than an hundred stripes into a fool.
11 Mugayen mutane sukan kuta tawaye da Allah; za a aika manzo mutuwa a kansu.
An evil man seeketh only rebellion; therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
12 Gara a haɗu da beyar da aka ƙwace wa’ya’ya fiye da a sadu da wawa cikin wautarsa.
Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
13 In mutum ya sāka alheri da mugunta, mugunta ba za tă taɓa barin gidansa ba.
Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
14 Farawar faɗa tana kamar ɓarkewa madatsar ruwa ne, saboda haka ka bar batun kafin faɗa ta ɓarke.
The beginning of strife is [as] when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before there be quarrelling.
15 Baratar da mai laifi a kuma hukunta mai adalci, Ubangiji ya ƙi su biyu.
He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
16 Mene ne amfanin kuɗi a hannun wawa, da yake ba shi da sha’awar samun hikima?
Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, seeing he hath no understanding?
17 Aboki yakan yi ƙauna a koyaushe, ɗan’uwa kuma, ai, don ɗaukar nawayar juna ne aka haife shi.
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
18 Mutumin da ba shi da azanci yakan ɗauki lamunin wani ya kuma ɗauki nauyin biyan basusuwan maƙwabci.
A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his neighbour.
19 Duk mai son faɗa yana son zunubi, duk wanda ya gina ƙofar shiga mai tsawo yana gayyatar hallaka.
He loveth transgression that loveth strife: he that raiseth high his gate seeketh destruction.
20 Mutum mai muguwar zuciya ba ya cin gaba; duk wanda yake da harshen ruɗu kan shiga wahala.
He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
21 Kasance da wawa kamar ɗa yakan kawo baƙin ciki babu farin ciki ga mahaifin wawa.
He that begetteth a fool [doeth it] to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
22 Zuciya mai farin ciki magani ne mai kyau, amma bakin rai kan busar da ƙasusuwa.
A merry heart is a good medicine: but a broken spirit drieth up the bones.
23 Mugun mutum yakan karɓa cin hanci a asirce don yă lalace yin adalci.
A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom, to pervert the ways of judgment.
24 Mutum mai basira kan kafa idonsa a kan hikima, amma idanun wawa suna a kan ƙarshen duniya.
Wisdom is before the face of him that hath understanding: but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
25 Da yake wawa yakan kawo baƙin ciki ga mahaifinsa da ɓacin rai ga wanda ya haife shi.
A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
26 Ba shi da kyau a hukunta marar laifi, ko a bulale shugaba saboda mutuncinsu.
Also to punish the righteous is not good, [nor] to smite the noble for [their] uprightness.
27 Mutum mai sani yakan yi la’akari da amfani da kalmomi, mutum mai basira kuma natsattse ne.
He that spareth his words hath knowledge: and he that is of a cool spirit is a man of understanding.
28 Ko wawa in bai buɗe bakinsa ba, za a zaci shi mai hikima ne, da kuma mai basira inda ya ƙame bakinsa.
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: when he shutteth his lips, he is [esteemed as] prudent.
