1 Ɗa mai hikima yakan mai da hankali ga umarnin mahaifinsa, amma mai ba’a ba ya sauraran kwaɓi.
A wise son listens to his father’s instruction, but a scoffer does not sh'ma ·hear obey· rebuke.
2 Daga abin da ya fito leɓunan mutum ne mutum kan ji daɗin abubuwa masu kyau, amma marar aminci yakan ƙosa ya tā-da-na-zaune-tsaye.
By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things; but the unfaithful crave violence.
3 Duk mai lura da leɓunansa yakan lura da ransa, amma duk mai magana da haushi zai kai ga lalaci.
He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
4 Rago ya ƙosa ya sami wani abu ainun amma ba ya samun kome, amma sha’awar mai aiki tuƙuru yakan ƙoshi sosai.
The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.
5 Adali yana ƙin abin da yake ƙarya, amma mugu kan jawo kunya da ƙasƙanci.
A upright man hates lies, but a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.
6 Adalci yakan lura da mutum mai mutunci, amma mugunta takan sha kan mai zunubi.
Righteousness guards the way of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the person of habitual sin ·missing the mark·.
7 Wani mutum yakan ɗauki kansa mai arziki ne, alhali ba shi da kome, wani ya ɗauki kansa shi matalauci ne, alhali shi mawadaci ne ƙwarai.
There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing. There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.
8 Arzikin mutum zai iya kuɓutar da ransa, amma matalauci ba ya jin barazana.
The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor sh'ma ·hear obey· no threats.
9 Hasken masu adalci kan haskaka ƙwarai, amma fitilar mugaye mutuwa take.
The light of the upright shines brightly, but the lamp candle of the wicked is snuffed out.
10 Girmankai kan jawo faɗa ne kawai, amma hikima tana samuwa a waɗanda suke jin shawara.
Pride only breeds quarrels, but with ones who take advice is wisdom.
11 Kuɗin da aka same su a rashin gaskiya yakan ɓace da sauri, amma duk wanda ya tara kuɗi kaɗan-kaɗan za su yi ta ƙaruwa.
Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow.
12 Sa zuciyar da aka ɗaga zuwa gaba kan sa zuciya tă yi ciwo, amma marmarin da aka ƙosar yana kamar itacen rai.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
13 Duk wanda ya rena umarni zai ɗanɗana ƙodarsa, amma duk wanda ya yi biyayya da umarni zai sami lada.
Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a charge will be rewarded.
14 Koyarwar mai hikima maɓulɓulan rai ne, mai juyar da mutum daga tarkon mutuwa.
The teaching of the wise is a spring of life, to turn from the snares of death.

17 Mugun ɗan saƙo kan shiga wahala, amma jakadan da mai aminci yakan kawo warkarwa.

18 Duk wanda ya ƙyale horo yakan kai ga talauci da kuma kunya, amma duk wanda ya karɓi gyara yakan sami girma.
Poverty and shame come to him who refuses discipline, but he who heeds correction shall be honored.
19 Marmarin da aka cika yana da daɗi ga rai, amma wawa yana ƙyamar juyewa daga mugunta.
Longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.
20 Shi da yake tafiya tare da masu hikima yakan ƙaru da hikima, amma abokin wawaye zai yi fama da lahani.
One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

23 Gonar matalauci za tă iya ba da abinci a yalwace, amma rashin adalci kan share shi tas.
An abundance of food is in poor people’s fields, but lo'mishpat ·injustice· sweeps it away.
24 Duk wanda ba ya horon ɗansa ba ƙaunarsa yake yi ba, amma duk mai ƙaunarsa yakan kula ya hore shi.
One who spares the rod hates his son, but one who 'ahav ·affectionately loves· him is careful to discipline him.
25 Masu adalci sukan ci isashen abinci, amma cikin mugaye na fama da yunwa.
The upright one eats to the satisfying of his soul, but the belly of the wicked goes hungry.
