To, wani Balawe wanda yake zama a wani lungu na ƙasar tudu ta Efraim ya ɗauko wa kansa ƙwarƙwara daga Betlehem cikin Yahuda.
And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the farther side of the hill-country of Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehem-judah.
2 Amma ba tă yi aminci ba. Ta bar shi ta komo gidan mahaifiyarta a Betlehem, a Yahuda. Bayan ta zauna a can wajen wata huɗu,
And his concubine played the harlot against him, and went away from him to her father's house to Bethlehem-judah, and was there the space of four months.
And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak kindly to her, to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of donkeys. And she brought him into her father's house, and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
4 Surukinsa, mahaifin yarinyar, ya sha kansa, yă dakata; saboda haka ya dakata tare da shi har kwana uku, yana ci yana sha, yana kuma kwanciya a can.
And his father-in-law, the damsel's father, retained him, and he abode with him three days. So they ate and drank, and lodged there.
5 A rana ta huɗu suka tashi da sassafe ya kuma yi shiri yă tafi, amma mahaifinta yarinyar ya ce wa surukinsa, “Ka ɗan ci wani abu don ka sami ƙarfi; sa’an nan ka tafi.”
And it came to pass on the fourth day, that they arose early in the morning, and he rose up to depart. And the damsel's father said to his son-in-law, Strengthen thy heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward ye shall go your way.
6 Saboda haka suka zauna su biyu suka ci suka sha tare. Bayan haka sai mahaifin yarinyar ya ce, “Don Allah ka kwana ka ji wa kanka daɗi.”
So they sat down, and ate and drank, both of them together. And the damsel's father said to the man, Be pleased, I pray thee, to tarry all night, and let thy heart be merry.
And the man rose up to depart, but his father-in-law urged him, and he lodged there again.
8 Da sassafen kashegari rana ta biyar, ya tashi zai tafi, sai mahaifin yarinyar ya ce, “Ka ɗan zauna ka shaƙata sai rana ta yi sanyi mana!” Saboda haka su biyu suka zauna suka ci abinci tare.
And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart. And the damsel's father said, Strengthen thy heart, I pray thee, and tarry ye until the day declines. And they ate, both of them.
And when the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father-in-law, the damsel's father, said to him, Behold, now the day draws toward evening, I pray you tarry all night. Behold, the day grows to an end, lodge here that thy heart may be merry, and tomorrow get early on your way that thou may go home.
10 Amma bai so ya sāke kwana a can ba, mutumin ya tashi ya tafi ya bi ta Yebus (wato, Urushalima), tare da jakunansa biyu da aka yi musu shimfiɗa da kuma ƙwarƙwaransa.
But the man would not tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came opposite Jebus (the same is Jerusalem). And there were with him a couple of saddled donkeys. His concubine was also with him.
When they were by Jebus, the day was far spent, and the servant said to his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn aside into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.
And his master said to him, We will not turn aside into the city of a foreigner that is not of the sons of Israel, but we will pass over to Gibeah.
13 Ya kuma ce, “Zo, mu yi ƙoƙari mu kai Gibeya ko Rama mu kwana a ɗaya cikinsu.”
And he said to his servant, Come and let us draw near to one of these places, and we will lodge in Gibeah, or in Ramah.
So they passed on and went their way. And the sun went down upon them near to Gibeah, which belongs to Benjamin.
And they turned aside there, to go in to lodge in Gibeah. And he went in, and sat down in the street of the city, for there was no man that took them into his house to lodge.
16 A wannan yamma sai ga wani tsoho daga ƙasar tudu ta Efraim, wanda yake zama a Gibeya (mutane wurin kuwa mutanen Benyamin ne), ya shigo daga wurin aiki a gonaki.
And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at evening. Now the man was of the hill-country of Ephraim, and he sojourned in Gibeah, but the men of the place were Benjamites.
Ina kuka fito?”
And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the wayfaring man in the street of the city. And the old man said, Where do thou go? And from where do thou come?
18 Balawen ya ce, “Muna fito daga Betlehem a Yahuda za mu wani lungu a ƙasar tudu ta Efraim inda nake da zama. Na tafi Betlehem a Yahuda, ga shi kuwa yanzu za ni gidan Ubangiji. Ba wanda ya shigar da ni gidansa.
And he said to him, We are passing from Bethlehem-judah to the farther side of the hill-country of Ephraim. I am from there, and I went to Bethlehem-judah. And I am now going to the house of Jehovah, and there is no man that takes me into his house.
19 Muna da ƙara da abinci don jakunanmu, muna kuma da burodi da ruwan inabi dominmu da bayinka, ni, baiwarka da kuma saurayin nan tare da mu. Ba ma bukatar kome.”
Yet there is both straw and provender for our donkeys, and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy handmaid, and for the young man who is with thy servants. There is no want of anything.
20 Tsohon ya ce, “Na marabce ku a gidana. Bari ni ba ku duk abin da kuke bukata. Kada ku dai kwana a dandali.”
And the old man said, Peace be to thee. However let all thy wants lie upon me, only do not lodge in the street.
So he brought him into his house, and gave the donkeys fodder. And they washed their feet, and ate and drank.
22 Yayinda suke jin wa kansu daɗi, sai waɗansu’yan iska daga birnin suka kewaye gidan. Suna bubbuga ƙofar, suna kira tsohon da yake da gidan suna cewa, “Ka fito mana da mutumin nan a gidanka domin mu yi jima’i da shi.”
As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain base fellows, beset the house round about, beating at the door. And they spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man who came into thy house, that we may know him.
23 Maigidan ya fita waje ya ce musu, “A’a, abokaina, kada ku yi abin kunyan nan. Da yake mutumin nan baƙona ne, kada ku yi rashin kunyan nan.
And the man, the master of the house, went out to them, and said to them, No, my brothers, I pray you, do not so wickedly, seeing that this man has come into my house. Do not this folly.
24 Duba, ga’yata da ba tă taɓa sanin namiji ba da kuma ƙwarƙwaransa. Zan fito muku da su a waje yanzu, za ku kuwa iya yin ko mene ne da kuke so da su. Amma wannan mutum, kada ku yi abin kunya.”
Behold, here is my daughter a virgin, and his concubine. I will bring them out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seems good to you, but to this man do not any such folly.
25 Amma mutanen ba su saurare shi ba. Saboda haka mutumin ya ba da ƙwarƙwaransa, suka yi mata fyaɗe suka yi lalata da ita dukan dare, gari yana wayewa sai suka bar ta.
But the men would not hearken to him. So the man laid hold on his concubine, and brought her forth to them. And they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning, and when the day began to spring, they let her go.
26 Da safe matar ta koma gidan da maigidanta yake, ta fāɗi a ƙofa ta kwanta a can har rana ta yi.
Then the woman came in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man's house where her lord was, till it was light.
27 Sa’ad da maigidanta ya tashi da safe ya buɗe ƙofar gidan don yă fita ya ci gaba da tafiyarsa, sai ga ƙwarƙwararsa, ta fāɗi a bakin ƙofar gidan da hannuwanta a madogarar ƙofar.
And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way, and, behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, with her hands upon the threshold.
28 Ya ce mata, “Tashi; mu tafi.” Amma ba amsa.
And he said to her, Up, and let us be going, but there was no answering. Then he took her up upon the donkey, and the man rose up, and got to his place.
29 Da ya kai gida, sai ya ɗauki wuƙa ya yayyanka ƙwarƙwaransa gunduwa-gunduwa, kashi goma sha biyu ya aika da su a ko’ina a Isra’ila.
And when he came into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, limb by limb, into twelve pieces, and sent her throughout all the borders of Israel.
30 Duk wanda ya gani, sai ya ce, “Ba a taɓa gani ko yin irin wannan abu ba, tun lokacin da Isra’ilawa suka fito daga Masar. Ku yi tunani wannan! Ku kuma yi la’akari! Ku gaya mana abin da za mu yi!”
And it was so, that all who saw it said, There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the sons of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt to this day. Consider it, take counsel, and speak.
