< Yoshuwa 20 >

1 Sai Ubangiji ya ce wa Yoshuwa,
Then the Lord told Joshua,
2 “Ka gaya wa Isra’ilawa su keɓe waɗansu birane su zama biranen mafaka kamar yadda na umarce ku ta wurin Musa,
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Assign sanctuary towns, as I instructed you through Moses.
3 domin idan wani ya kashe wani bisa kuskure ba da niyyar yin kisankai ba, mutumin zai iya gudu zuwa can yă fake don kada a kashe shi.
Then any man who kills somebody by accident, unintentionally, can run there and they will be protected from those who wish to take revenge.
4 Lokacin da ya gudu zuwa ɗaya daga cikin biranen nan, sai yă tsaya a ƙofar birnin yă gaya wa dattawan wannan birni damuwarsa. Sa’an nan su karɓe shi su ba shi wurin zama a cikin birninsu.
When he gets to one of these towns, he shall state his case to the elders at the town gates. They must allow him to enter, and they will also arrange a place for him to stay.
5 In mai neman yă kashe shi don ramako ya bi shi zuwa can, ba za su miƙa shi ba domin ba da niyya ya kashe wani ba, kuma ba fushi ne ya sa ya yi kisan ba.
If the one seeking revenge comes looking for the man, they must not hand the one who committed manslaughter over to him, because he killed someone unintentionally and without deliberate hatred.
6 Zai zauna a wannan birni har sai taron jama’a sun yi masa shari’a, kuma har sai lokacin da babban firist wanda yake aiki a lokacin ya mutu, sa’an nan zai iya koma garinsa na dā.”
He shall remain in that town until he has received a public trial and a verdict has been given, and until the death of the high priest of the time. Then he is free to return to his home, back to the town from where he ran away.’”
7 Saboda haka suka keɓe Kedesh a Galili a ƙasar kan tudu ta Naftali, Shekem a ƙasar kan tudu ta Efraim, da Kiriyat Arba (wato, Hebron) a ƙasar kan tudu ta Yahuda.
So they assigned the following sanctuary towns: Kedesh of Galilee, in the hill country of Naphtali; Shechem, in the hill country of Ephraim; and Kiriath-arba (or Hebron), in the hill country of Judah.
8 A hayin Urdun, gabas da Yeriko, suka keɓe Bezer ta jeji a kan tudu a cikin yankin kabilar Ruben, Ramot cikin Gileyad a kabilar Gad, da Golan cikin Bashan a kabilar Manasse.
On the other side of the Jordan, east of Jericho, they assigned: Bezer, in the wilderness on the plateau, from the tribe of Reuben; Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad; and Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh.
9 In wani mutumin Isra’ila ko kuma wani baƙon da yake zama a cikinsu, ya yi kisankai cikin kuskure, zai iya gudu zuwa biranen da aka keɓe, ba za a bari mai neman ramako yă kashe shi kafin jama’a su yi masa shari’a ba.
These were the assigned towns for all the Israelites, as well as for the foreigners living among them. Anyone who unintentionally killed someone could go there so they would not be killed by those who wished to take revenge before they had received a public trial and been given a guilty verdict.
