Irmiya 40
1 Sai magana ta zo wa Irmiya daga Ubangiji bayan Nebuzaradan shugaban matsaran sarki ya sake shi a Rama. Ya sami Irmiya a daure da sarƙoƙi a cikin sauran kamammu daga Urushalima da kuma Yahuda waɗanda ake kaiwa zaman bauta a Babilon.
The word that came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had dismissed him from Ramah, when he had taken him as he was bound in chains in the midst of all the exiles of Jerusalem and Judah, who were carried away into exile unto Babylon.
2 Sa’ad da shugaban matsaran ya sami Irmiya sai ya ce masa, “Ubangiji Allahnka ya sa wannan masifa saboda wannan wuri.
Then took the captain of the guard Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God had spoken this evil over this place;
3 Yanzu kuma Ubangiji ya cika shi; ya yi kamar yadda ya faɗa. Dukan wannan ya faru domin kun yi zunubi ga Ubangiji ba ku kuwa yi masa biyayya ba.
Now the Lord hath brought it [to fulfillment], and hath done according as he had spoken; because ye had sinned against the Lord, and had not hearkened to his voice; and therefore is this thing come upon you.
4 Amma yau ina’yantar da kai daga sarƙoƙin da suke a hannuwanka. Zo mu tafi Babilon, in kana so, zan kuwa lura da kai; amma in ba ka so, kada ka zo. Ga shi, dukan ƙasar tana a gabanka; ka tafi duk inda ka so.”
And now, behold, I have freed thee this day from the chains which were upon thy hand. If it seem good in thy eyes to come with me to Babylon, come, and I will direct my eye unto thee; but if it seem ill in thy eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and proper in thy eyes to go, thither go.
5 Amma, kafin Irmiya yă juya yă tafi, Nebuzaradan ya ƙara da cewa, “Ka koma wurin Gedaliya ɗan Ahikam, ɗan Shafan, wanda sarkin Babilon ya naɗa a kan garuruwan Yahuda, ka zauna da shi a cikin mutane, ko kuwa ka tafi duk inda ka ga dama.” Sa’an nan shugaban ya ba shi abinci da kuma kyauta sai ya bar shi ya tafi.
And as he did not yet turn about, [he said, ] Go then back to Gedalyah the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people; or wheresoever it seemeth proper in thy eyes to go, go. And the captain of the guard gave him an allowance and a present, and then dismissed him.
6 Saboda haka Irmiya ya tafi wurin Gedaliya ɗan Ahikam, a Mizfa ya zauna tare da shi a cikin mutanen da aka bari a ƙasar.
So did Jeremiah come unto Gedalyah the son of Achikam to Mizpah; and he dwelt with him in the midst of the people that had been left in the land.
7 Sa’ad da dukan shugabannin hafsoshin tare da mutanen da suke a karkara suka ji cewa sarkin Babilon ya naɗa Gedaliya ɗan Ahikam gwamna a kan ƙasar ya kuma sa shi ya lura da maza, mata da’ya’yan da suke mafi talauci a ƙasar da waɗanda ba a kwashe zuwa zaman bauta a Babilon ba,
Now when all the captains of the armies who were in the field, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedalyahu the son of Achikam governor over the land, and that he had entrusted unto him men, and women, and children, and these of the poorest of the land, of those that had not been carried away into exile to Babylon:
8 sai suka zo wurin Gedaliya a Mizfa, Ishmayel ɗan Netaniya, Yohanan da Yonatan’ya’yan Kareya, da Serahiya ɗan Tanhumet maza,’ya’yan Efai maza, mutumin Netofa, da Yezaniya ɗan mutumin Ma’aka da mutanensu.
Then came they to Gedalyah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethanyahu, and Jochanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareach, and Serayah the son of Tanchumeth, and the sons of 'Ephai the Netophathite, and Yezanyahu the son of a Ma'achathite, they and their men.
9 Gedaliya ɗan Ahikam, ɗan Shafan, ya yi rantsuwa don yă tabbatar musu da mutanensu. Ya ce, “Kada ku ji tsoron bauta wa Babiloniyawa. Ku zauna a ƙasar ku bauta wa sarkin Babilon, zai kuma yi muku amfani.
And Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan swore unto them and unto their men, saying, Have no fear to serve the Chaldeans: remain in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.
10 Ni kaina zan zauna a Mizfa in zama wakilinku a gaban Babiloniyawa waɗanda za su zo wurinmu, amma ku girbe ruwan inabi,’ya’yan itatuwa na kaka, da mai, ku zuba su a tulunan ajiyarku, ku kuma zauna a garuruwan da kuka ci.”
As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans, who will come unto us; but ye, gather ye together wine, and summer-fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities of which ye have taken possession.
11 Sa’ad da dukan Yahudawan da suke a Mowab, Ammon, Edom da sauran ƙasashe suka ji cewa sarkin Babilon ya bar raguwa a Yahuda ya kuma naɗa Gedaliya ɗan Ahikam, ɗan Shafan gwamna a kansu,
And so likewise all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the children of 'Ammon, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant unto Judah, and that he had appointed over them Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan;
12 sai suka dawo ƙasar Yahuda, wurin Gedaliya a Mizfa, daga dukan ƙasashen da suke a warwatse. Suka girbe ruwan inabi a yalwace da’ya’yan itatuwan kaka.
And then did all the Jews return out of all places whither they had been driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedalyahu, unto Mizpah, and gathered together wine and summer-fruits in very great abundance.
13 Yohanan ɗan Kareya da dukan manyan sojoji da suke a karkara suka zo wurin Gedaliya a Mizfa
And Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies that were in the field, came to Gedalyahu to Mizpah,
14 suka ce masa, “Ba ka san cewa Ba’alis sarkin Ammonawa ya aiki Ishmayel ɗan Netaniya ya ɗauke ranka ba?” Amma Gedaliya ɗan Ahikam bai gaskata su ba.
And they said unto him, Dost thou at all know that Ba'alis the king of the children of 'Ammon hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethanyah to deprive thee of life? But Gedalyahu the son of Achikam believed them not.
15 Sai Yohanan ɗan Kareya ya yi wa Gedaliya a Mizfa magana a asirce ya ce, “Bari in tafi in kashe Ishmayel ɗan Netaniya, ba kuwa wanda zai sani. Me zai sa ya ɗauke ranka ya watsar da dukan Yahudawan da suka taru kewaye da kai har waɗanda suka ragu na Yahuda su hallaka?”
And Jochanan the son of Kareach said to Gedalyahu secretly in Mizpah, as followeth, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethanyah, and no man shall know of it: wherefore should he deprive thee of life, whereby all the Jews who are gathered unto thee would be scattered, and the remnant of Judah be lost?
16 Amma Gedaliya ɗan Ahikam ya ce wa Yohanan ɗan Kareya, “Kada ka yi irin wannan abu! Abin da kake faɗa game da Ishmayel ba gaskiya ba ne.”
But Gedalyahu the son of Achikam said unto Jochanan the son of Kareach, Thou shalt not do this thing; for thou speakest a falsehood concerning Ishmael.
