1 Da suka bi ta Amfifolis da Afolloniya, sai suka isa Tessalonika, inda akwai majami’ar Yahudawa.
Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.
2 Kamar yadda ya saba, Bulus ya shiga majami’ar, ranakun Asabbaci uku ya yi ta yin muhawwara da su daga cikin Nassosi,
And according to his custom Paul went in among them, and for three sabbath-days discoursed to them from the scriptures;
3 yana musu bayani da tabbatarwa cewa dole Kiristi ya sha wahala ya kuma tashi daga matattu. Ya kuma ce, “Wannan Yesu da nake sanar muku shi ne Kiristi.”
opening them and shewing, that the Messiah was to suffer and rise again from the dead: and that this is the Christ even, Jesus, whom, said he, I preach unto you.
4 Waɗansu Yahudawa suka amince suka kuma bi Bulus da Sila, haka ma Hellenawa da yawa masu tsoron Allah da kuma manyan mata ba kaɗan ba.
And some of them believed and joined themselves to Paul and Silas, and a great number of the devout Greeks, and of the women of distinction not a few.
5 Amma Yahudawa suka yi kishi; saboda haka suka tattara’yan iska daga kasuwa, suka shirya wata ƙungiya, suka tā da tarzoma a birni. Suka ruga zuwa gidan Yason suna neman Bulus da Sila don su kawo su a gaban taron.
But the unbelieving Jews being filled with envy, collected some loose profligate fellows, and making a tumult set all the city in an uproar: and assaulting Jason's house, they sought for them in order to bring them out to the populace.
6 Amma da ba su same su ba, sai suka ja Yason da waɗansu’yan’uwa zuwa gaban mahukuntan birnin, suna ihu suna cewa, “Waɗannan mutanen da suke tā da fitina ko’ina a duniya sun iso nan,
But not finding them, they dragged Jason and some of the brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, these men that have turned the world upside down,
7 Yason kuwa ya karɓe su a gidansa. Dukansu suna karya dokokin Kaisar, suna cewa akwai wani sarki, wanda ake kira Yesu.”
are come hither also, and Jason has privately received them. And they all act contrary to the decrees of Cesar, saying, there is another king, one Jesus.
8 Da suka ji haka, sai hankalin taron da na mahukuntan birnin ya tashi.
And they alarmed the people, and the rulers of the city upon hearing these things:
9 Sai suka sa Yason da sauran su biya kuɗin saki sa’an nan suka sallame su.
but they taking security of Jason and the rest, let them go.
10 Da dare ya yi, sai’yan’uwa suka sallami Bulus da Sila su tafi Bereya. Da suka isa can, sai suka shiga majami’ar Yahudawa.
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night to Berea: who, when they were come thither, went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 Bereyawa kuwa sun fi Tessalonikawa hankali, gama sun karɓi saƙon da marmari ƙwarai, suka kuma yi ta yin bincike Nassosi kowace rana su ga ko abin da Bulus ya faɗa gaskiya ne.
These were more ingenuous than those at Thessalonica; for they received the word with all readiness of mind, searching the scriptures daily, whether these things were so.
12 Yahudawa da yawa suka gaskata, haka ma waɗansu manyan matan Hellenawa da kuma mazan Hellenawa da yawa.
And therefore many of them believed: and of the Grecian women of quality, and of men likewise not a few.
13 Da Yahudawan da suke a Tessalonika suka ji cewa Bulus yana wa’azin maganar Allah a Bereya, sai suka je can ma, suna zuga taro suna kuma tā da hankalinsu.
But when the Jews of Thessalonica knew that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came thither also, to stir up the people.
14 Nan da nan’yan’uwa suka sa Bulus yă tafi bakin teku, amma Sila da Timoti suka dakata a Bereya.
Then the brethren immediately sent away Paul towards the sea: but Silas and Timothy remained there.
15 Mutanen da suka raka Bulus kuwa suka kawo shi Atens sa’an nan suka dawo da umarnai wa Sila da Timoti cewa su zo wurinsa da gaggawa.
And they that conducted Paul attended him to Athens: and receiving an order to Silas and Timothy, to come to him as soon as possible, they departed.
16 Yayinda Bulus yake jiransu a Atens, ya damu ƙwarai da ya ga birnin cike da gumaka.
Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his Spirit was greatly moved, when he saw the city wholly given up to idolatry.
17 Saboda haka ya yi ta muhawwara a majami’a da Yahudawa da kuma Hellenawa masu tsoron Allah, haka kuma da waɗanda yake tararwa a bakin kasuwa.
He therefore disputed in the synagogue with the Jews and other devout persons on the sabbath-day, and with whomsoever he met in public every day.
18 Wata ƙungiyar Afikuriya da kuma masu bin ussan ilimin Sitoyik suka fara gardama da shi. Waɗansunsu suka ce, “Mene ne mai surutun nan yake ƙoƙarin faɗi?” Waɗansu suka ce, “Kamar yana wa’azin baƙin alloli ne.” Sun faɗa haka ne domin Bulus yana wa’azin labari mai daɗi game da Yesu da kuma tashin matattu.
But some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him; and some said, What would this babler say? and others, He seemeth to be a proclaimer of foreign deities: because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection.
19 Sai suka ɗauke shi suka kawo shi wurin taron Areyofagus, inda suka ce masa, “Ko za mu san mene ne sabon koyarwan nan ya ƙunsa da kake yi?
And they took and brought him to the Areopagus, and said, May we know what this new doctrine is, of which thou speakest?
20 Kana kawo mana ra’ayoyin da suke baƙo a gare mu, kuma muna so mu san mene ne suke nufi.”
For thou bringest strange things to our ears; we would therefore know what these things mean.
21 (Duk Atenawa da baƙin da suke zama a can suna zaman kashe wando ne kawai kuma ba abin da suke yi sai dai taɗi da kuma jin sababbin ra’ayoyi.)
(Now all the Athenians, and strangers sojourning among them, spent their time in nothing else, but to tell or to hear something new.)
22 Sai Bulus ya miƙe tsaye a tsakiyar taron Areyofagus ya ce, “Ya ku mutanen Atens! Na dai lura cewa ta kowace hanya ku masu addini ne ƙwarai.
Then Paul stood up in the midst of the Areopagus and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that you are indeed over-much religious:
23 Gama sa’ad da nake zagawa, na lura da kyau da abubuwan da kuke bauta wa, har ma na tarar da wani bagade da wannan rubutu, Ga Allahn da ba a sani ba. To, abin nan da kuke yi wa sujada a matsayin abin da ba ku sani nan ba shi ne zan sanar da ku.
for as I was passing along, and looking at what ye worshipped, I found an altar on which there was inscribed, "To the unknown God." Whom therefore ye worship unknown, Him do I declare unto you.
24 “Allahn da ya halicci duniya da kome da yake cikinta shi ne Ubangijin sama da ƙasa, ba ya kuma zama a haikalin da aka gina da hannuwa.
The God that made the world and all things therein, being lord of heaven and earth dwelleth not in temples made with hands:
25 Ba a kuma yin masa hidima da hannun mutum, sai ka ce mai bukatan wani abu, domin shi kansa ne ke ba wa dukan mutane rai da numfashi da kuma kome.
nor is He served by the hands of men, as needing any thing: for He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 Daga mutum ɗaya, ya halicci kowace al’ummar mutane, don su zauna a duk duniya; shi ne kuma ya ƙaddara lokuta bisa ga tsarinsu da kuma inda za su kasance.
and hath made of one blood every nation of men to dwell upon all the face of the earth, having determined the seasons before-appointed them, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 Allah ya yi wannan domin mutane su neme shi mai yiwuwa kuma su lalluba su same shi, ko da yake ba shi da nisa daga kowannenmu.
that they might seek the Lord, if possibly they might trace Him, and find Him: though indeed He is not far from every one of us.
28 ‘Gama a cikinsa ne muke rayuwa muke motsi muka kuma kasance.’ Yadda waɗansu mawaƙanku suka ce, ‘Mu zuriyarsa ce.’
For in Him we live and move, and exist; as some also of your own poets have said, "For we his offspring are."
29 “Saboda haka da yake mu zuriyar Allah ce, kada mu yi tsammani cewa kamannin Allah yana kama da zinariya ko azurfa ko dutse, siffar da mutum ya ƙago ta wurin dabararsa.
Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to imagine that the Deity is like to gold, or silver, or stone, carved by the art and device of man.
30 A dā Allah ya kawar da Allah ya kawar da kai ga zamanin jahilci, amma yanzu ya umarci dukan mutane a ko’ina su tuba.
Wherefore though God overlooked the times of this ignorance, He now requireth all men every where to repent.
31 Gama ya sa ranar da zai yi wa duniya shari’a da adalci ta wurin mutumin da ya naɗa. Ya riga ya ba da tabbacin wannan ga dukan mutane ta wurin tā da shi daga matattu.”
Because He hath fixed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness, by that man whom He hath appointed thereto; having given assurance of it to all men, by raising Him from the dead.
32 Sa’ad da suka ji maganar tashin matattu, waɗansunsu suka yi tsaki, amma waɗansu suka ce, “Muna so mu ƙara jin ka a kan wannan batu.”
And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some laughed at it: and others said, We will hear thee again concerning this matter.
33 Da wannan, Bulus ya bar Majalisar.
So Paul went out of the assembly.
34 Waɗansu mutane kima suka zama mabiyan Bulus suka kuwa gaskata. A cikinsu kuwa akwai Diyonasiyus ɗan Majalisar Areyofagus, haka kuma wata mace mai suna Damaris, da waɗansu dai haka.
Some however adhered to him, and believed: among whom was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
