< Sòm 78 >
1 Yon Sòm a Asaph Koute, O pèp mwen an a lenstriksyon mwen. Panche zòrèy Ou vè pawòl a bouch mwen.
An Instructive Psalm. Asaph’s. Give ear, O my people, to mine instruction, Bend your ear to the sayings of my mouth;
2 Mwen va ouvri bouch mwen avèk yon parabòl. Mwen va pale pawòl fonse a tan ansyen yo,
I will open, in a parable, my mouth, I will pour forth enigmas out of antiquity; —
3 ke nou te tande, konnen e ke papa zansèt nou yo te fè nou konprann.
Which we have heard, and come to know, And, our fathers, have recounted to us;
4 Nou p ap kache yo a pitit nou yo, men nou va pale a jenerasyon k ap vini yo, tout lwanj SENYÈ a, fòs Li ak gran mèvèy ke Li te konn fè yo.
We will not withhold [them] from their children, To a later generation, recounting the praises of Yahweh, Even his might and his wonders which he wrought;
5 Paske Li te etabli yon temwayaj nan Jacob e te chwazi yon lwa an Israël, sou (sila) Li te kòmande papa zansèt nou yo pou yo ta enstwi yo a pitit pa yo.
When he set up a testimony in Jacob, And, a law, appointed in Israel, —Which he commanded our fathers, That they might make them known to their children;
6 Ke jenerasyon k ap vini an ta kab konnen. Menm pou (sila) ki poko fèt yo, pou yo ta kab leve e pale yo a pitit yo,
To the end, A later generation, might come to know, Children who should be born, Who should arise, and recount [them] to their children;
7 pou yo kab mete konfyans yo nan Bondye e pa bliye zèv Bondye yo, men kenbe kòmandman Li yo.
That they might set, in Elohim, their confidence, —And not forget the doings of El, But, his commandments, might observe;
8 Pou yo pa fè tankou papa zansèt yo, yon jenerasyon tèt di e rebèl, yon jenerasyon ki pa t gen kè fidèl, ki pa t gen lespri fidèl a Bondye.
And not become, like their fathers, a generation stubborn and rebellious, —A generation that fixed not their heart, Neither was their spirit, faithful with GOD.
9 Fis a Éphraïm yo ki kon tire flèch, te pote banza yo. Sepandan, nan jou batay la, yo te fè bak.
The sons of Ephraim—armed bowmen, Turned in the day of battle;
10 Yo pa t kenbe akò yo ak Bondye e te refize mache nan lalwa Li.
They kept not the covenant of God, And, in his law, refused to walk;
11 Yo te bliye zèv Li yo avèk mirak ke Li te montre yo.
And forgat His doings, And his wonders which he had showed them:
12 Li te fòje mirak yo devan zansèt yo, nan peyi Égypte la ak nan chan Tsoan an.
In presence of their fathers, wrought he, wondrously, —In the land of Egypt—the field of Zoan:
13 Li te divize lanmè a e te fè yo pase ladann. Li te fè dlo yo kanpe wo tankou yon gwo pil.
He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through, And reared up the waters like a mound;
14 Apre, Li te dirije yo avèk nwaj nan lajounen e nan tout nwit lan avèk limyè dife.
And led them, by a cloud, in the daytime, And all the night, by a light of fire;
15 Li te fann wòch yo nan dezè a e te bay yo anpil dlo pou bwè tankou nan fon yo.
He used to cleave rocks in the desert, And let them drink as out of mighty deeps;
16 Li te fè parèt sous ki te pete sòti nan wòch la, e te fè dlo desann tankou larivyè.
And he brought forth streams out of the cliff, And caused waters to flow down, like rivers.
17 Sepandan, yo te kontinye peche kont Li, e fè rebèl kont Pi Wo a nan dezè a.
But again, once more sinned they against him, Resisting the Most High in a land of drought:
18 Konsa, nan kè yo, yo te pase Bondye a leprèv lè yo te mande manje selon dezi yo.
They put GOD to the proof in their heart, By asking food to their mind:
19 Wi, yo te pale kont Bondye. Yo te di: “Èske Bondye kapab prepare yon tab nan dezè a?
Yea they spake against Elohim, —They said, Can GOD prepare a table in the desert?
20 Gade byen, Li te frape wòch la pou dlo kouri sòti e gwo sous yo t ap debòde. Èske Li kapab bay pen tou? Èske Li kab founi vyann pou pèp Li a?”
Lo! he hath smitten a rock, And waters, have gushed out, Yea, torrents, have rushed along, —Food also, can he give? Or provide flesh for his people?
21 Pou sa, SENYÈ a te tande e te ranpli ak kòlè. Konsa, yon dife te limen kont Jacob, e chalè te monte tou kont Israël.
Therefore, Yahweh hearkened, and became wroth, —And, a fire, was kindled against Jacob, Moreover also, anger, mounted against Israel;
22 Paske yo pa t kwè nan Bondye, e pa t mete konfyans yo nan delivrans Li.
Because, They believed not in God, Nor trusted in his salvation;
23 Men Li te kòmande nwaj anlè yo, e te louvri pòt syèl yo.
Though he had commanded the skies above, And, the doors of the heavens, had opened;
24 Li te fè lamàn vin tonbe tankou lapli sou yo, pou yo manje e te bay yo manje soti nan syèl la.
And had rained on them manna to eat, And, the corn of the heavens, had given to them:
25 Lòm te manje manje a zanj yo. Li te voye manje ba yo an abondans.
The food of the mighty, each one did eat, Nourishment, sent he them to the full;
26 Li te fè van lès la vante nan syèl yo e avèk pwisans Li, Li te dirije van sid la.
He let loose an east wind in the heavens, Then guided he, in his might, a south wind;
27 Li te fè tonbe vyann sou yo tankou lapli, tankou pousyè, menm zwazo ak zèl tankou sab lanmè.
And rained upon them flesh as the dust, And, like the sand of the seas, birds of wing;
28 Alò, Li te kite yo tonbe nan mitan kan an, toupatou abitasyon yo.
And let them fall in the midst of their camp, —Round about their habitations.
29 Konsa, yo te manje vant plen, e sa yo te mande, se sa Li te bay yo.
So they did eat and were abundantly filled, When, what they longed for, he had brought them: —
30 Avan, yo te satisfè dezi yo, pandan manje a te toujou nan bouch yo,
They had not turned away from what they had longed for, Yet was their food in their mouth,
31 kòlè Bondye te leve kont yo e te touye kèk nan pi vayan pami yo. Li te frape desann mesye pi chwazi Israël yo.
When, the anger of God, mounted against them, And he slew of their vigorous youths, And, the choice young men of Israel, caused he to bow down in death.
32 Malgre tout sa, yo te peche toujou, e pa t kwè nan zèv mèvèy Li yo.
For all this, sinned they still, And believed not in his wonders;
33 Akoz sa, Li te fè jou yo fini mal, e ane yo nan laperèz sibit.
So he ended, in a breath, their days, And their years, in a sudden terror!
34 Lè Li te touye yo, nan lè sa a, yo te chache Li. Yo te retounen chache Li ak dilijans.
If he slew [of] them, then they sought him, Yea they turned, and did earnestly seek GOD;
35 Konsa, yo te sonje ke Bondye te wòch yo, e Pi Wo a, redanmtè yo.
And remembered that, Elohim, was their rock, Yea, EL Most High, their Redeemer:
36 Men yo te twonpe Li ak bouch yo. Yo te manti a Li ak lang yo.
So they spake him fair with their mouth, And, with their tongue, did promise him falsely;
37 Paske kè yo pa t fèm vè Li menm, ni yo pa t fidèl selon akò Li.
But, their heart, was not fixed with him, Nor were they trusty in his covenant:
38 Men Li menm, akoz mizerikòd Li, te padone inikite yo, e pa t detwi yo. Wi, souvan Li te ralanti kòlè Li e pa t kite tout kòlè li vin leve.
Yet, he, full of compassion, would put a propitiatory-covering over iniquity, and not destroy, —Yea, many a time, turned he back his anger, And would not stir up all his wrath.
39 Konsa, Li te sonje ke se sèl chè yo te ye, yon van pase ki pa retounen ankò.
So then he remembered, That, Flesh, they were, A Wind departing, that returneth not.
40 Konbyen fwa yo te fè rebèl kont Li nan dezè a, e te fè L soufri lapèn la nan savann an!
How often they, Resisted him in the desert, Vexed him, in the waste:
41 Anpil fwa, yo te pase Bondye a leprèv, epi te fè (Sila) Ki Sen A Israël la soufri doulè.
Yea they again put GOD to the test, And, to the Holy One of Israel, caused they sorrow:
42 Yo pa t sonje pwisans Li, ni jou ke Li te delivre yo nan men advèsè yo,
They remembered not his hand—The day, When he ransomed them from the adversary;
43 lè Li te akonpli mirak Li yo an Égypte ak mèvèy Li yo nan chan Tsoan an.
When he set, in Egypt, his signs, And his wonders, in the plain of Zoan;
44 Li te chanje rivyè yo an san. Konsa, nan sous yo, yo pa t kab bwè.
When he turned, into blood, their Nile-streams, And, their own rivers, could they not drink;
45 Li te voye pami yo mouch an gran kantite ki te devore yo, avèk krapo ki te detwi yo.
He sent among them, The gad-fly, and it devoured them, And the frog, and it despoiled them;
46 Li te bay chan rekòlt a chwalbwa a, ak pwodwi travay yo a krikèt la.
When he gave to the corn-locust their produce, And their toil, to the swarming locust;
47 Li te detwi chan fwi yo ak lagrèl e bwa sikomò yo ak fredi.
He killed, with hail, their vine, And their sycomores, with frost:
48 Li te bay bèt yo tou a lagrèl e twoupo yo a loray.
When he gave up, to hail-storms, their beasts, And their cattle, to pestilent fevers;
49 Li te voye sou yo chalè kòlè Li, gwo kòlè avèk endiyasyon ak twoub, ak yon bann zanj ki pou detwi yo.
He sent among them the heat of his anger, Wrath and indignation and distress, —A mission of messengers of misfortune:
50 Li te fè yon chemen pou lakòlè Li. Li pa t epagne nanm yo de lanmò, men te bay lavi yo a gwo fleyo.
He leveled a path for his anger, Withheld not, from death, their soul, But, their life—to the pestilence, he delivered:
51 Li te frape di tout premye ne an Égypte yo, premye sòti a fòs kouraj yo nan tant a Cham yo.
So he smote, Every first-born in Egypt, The beginning of their strength, in the tents of Ham;
52 Men Li te mennen fè sòti pwòp pèp li a tankou mouton. Li te dirije yo nan dezè a tankou yon twoupo.
And he set forth, like sheep, his people, And guided them, like a flock in the desert;
53 Li te dirije yo avèk swen pou yo pa pè, men lanmè te vale lènmi yo.
Yea he led them securely, and they dreaded not, And, their enemies, the sea did cover.
54 Konsa, Li te mennen yo nan peyi sen Li an, vè peyi ti kolin ke men dwat Li te vin posede a.
Then brought he them within his own holy bounds, The mountain-range, which his right hand made his own:
55 Anplis, li te chase nasyon yo devan yo, te pataje pou yo yon eritaj selon mezi li, e te fè tribi Israël yo abite nan tant yo.
So he drave out, before them, [whole] nations, And allotted them, by line, an inheritance, And caused to dwell, in their own homes, the tribes of Israel.
56 Sepandan, yo te tante e fè rebèl kont Bondye Pi Wo a, e pa t kenbe temwayaj Li yo,
But they tested and resisted God Most High, And, his testimonies, did not observe;
57 men te vire fè bak e te aji nan malveyans tankou papa zansèt yo. Yo te vire akote tankou yon banza ki tòde.
But drew back and dealt treacherously, like their fathers, They turned aside, like deceitful bowmen;
58 Paske yo te pwovoke Li avèk wo plas yo, e te fè L jalou avèk imaj taye yo.
And provoked him to anger with their high places, And, with their images, used to move him to jealousy.
59 Lè Bondye te tande, Li te vin ranpli avèk kòlè, e te vin deteste Israël anpil.
God heard and was wroth, And greatly abhorred Israel;
60 Jiskaske Li te abandone abitasyon Silo, tant ke li te konn monte pami lòm nan,
So he gave up the habitation of Shiloh, The tent he had set up among Men;
61 e te bay yo menm ki te fòs Li, an kaptivite, glwa Li nan men advèsè a.
Yea he gave up, into captivity, his strength, And his beauty into the hand of an adversary;
62 Anplis, Li te livre pèp Li a de nepe e te vin ranpli avèk kòlè kont eritaj Li a.
And delivered up, to the sword, his people, And, with his own inheritance, was he wroth;
63 Dife te devore jennonm Li yo e vyèj Li yo pa t gen chan maryaj.
His young men, were devoured by fire, And, his virgins, were not praised in song;
64 Prèt Li yo te tonbe pa nepe e Vèv Li yo pa t kab kriye.
His priests, by the sword, did fall, And, his widows, were not able to bewail.
65 Konsa, SENYÈ a te leve tankou se nan dòmi Li te ye, tankou yon gèrye ki rele fò akoz diven.
Then awoke, as one that had slept, Adonay, As a warrior exulting with wine!
66 Li te pouse advèsè Li yo fè bak. Li te mete sou yo yon repwòch ki pa t ap fini menm.
So he smote his adversaries in the rear, Reproach age-abiding, laid he upon them.
67 Anplis, Li te rejte tant Jospeh la, ni pa t chwazi tribi Éphraïm nan.
Howbeit he rejected the tent of Joseph, And, the tribe of Ephraim, did not choose:
68 Men Li te chwazi tribi Juda a, Mòn Sion ke Li te renmen anpil la.
But made choice of the tribe of Judah, The mountain of Zion, which he loved;
69 Li te bati sanktiyè Li tankou wotè mòn yo, tankou latè ke Li te etabli jis pou tout tan an.
And built, like the heights, his sanctuary, Like the earth, he founded it to times age-abiding.
70 Anplis, Li te chwazi David, sèvitè Li a. Li te pran l sòti nan Pak mouton yo,
And made choice of David his servant, And took him from among the folds of the sheep:
71 sòti nan okipe mouton k ap fè pitit, avèk ti mouton nouris, Li te mennen li, pou vin bèje Jacob, pèp Li a, avèk Israël, eritaj Li a.
From after the sucking ewes, he brought him in, —To be shepherd to Jacob his people, And to Israel, his inheritance.
72 Konsa, Li te fè bèje yo selon entegrite kè l, e te gide yo avèk men abil li.
So he did shepherd them, according to the singleness of his heart, And, with the discernment of his hands, used he to guide them.
