1 Pou direktè koral la; Yon Sòm David Delivre m, O SENYÈ, de moun mechan yo. Delivre m de moun vyolan yo:
Yahweh, rescue/save me from [being attacked by] evil men; and [even more], (keep me safe/protect me) from being attacked by violent people.
2 ka p fè manèv mechan nan kè yo. Tout tan, y ap fè pwovokasyon pou fè lagè.
They are always planning to do evil things and they are always inciting/urging people to start quarrels.
3 Yo file lang yo tankou koulèv. Pwazon a sèpan mòtèl la anba lèv yo. Tan
By what they say [MTY] [they injure people like] poisonous snakes do; the words that they speak [MTY] [can kill people as easily as] cobras/vipers do.
4 Kenbe m, O SENYÈ, de men moun mechan yo. Pwoteje m de moun vyolan ki te fè plan pou pye m yo ta tonbe yo.
Yahweh, protect me from the power [MTY] of wicked [people]. Keep me safe from violent men who plan to destroy me [SYN].
5 Ògeye yo fin ranje yon pèlen pou mwen. Avèk kòd, yo te ouvri yon pèlen bò wout la. Yo fin plase yon pyèj pou mwen. Tan
[It is as though] proud people have set a trap for me; [it is as though] they have spread their nets to catch me; [it is as though] they have put those things along the road to catch/seize me.
6 Mwen te di a SENYÈ a: “Se Ou ki Bondye mwen.” Bay zòrèy, O SENYÈ, a vwa a siplikasyon mwen yo.
I say to you, “Yahweh, you are my God;” [so] listen to me while I cry out to you to help me.
7 O BONDYE Senyè a, fòs a sali mwen an, Ou te kouvri tèt mwen nan jou batay la.
Yahweh, my Lord, you are the one who defends me strongly; you have [protected me] during battles [MET] [as though you had put a helmet on] my head.
8 Pa akonpli, O SENYÈ, dezi a mechan an. Pa pèmèt manèv mechan li yo, pou l pa vin leve wo. Tan
Yahweh, do allow wicked [people] to do the things that they desire, and do not allow them to do the [evil things that] they plan to do.
9 Epi pou chèf an tèt a (sila) ki antoure mwen yo, pou malveyans a pwòp lèv yo kapab vin kouvri yo.
[Do not allow] my enemies to (become proud/defeat me); cause the evil things that they say [MTY] they will do to me to happen to them, [instead].
10 Kite chabon tou limen vin tonbe sou yo. Kite yo jete nan dife, nan fòs fon kote yo p ap kab leve sòti.
Cause burning coals to fall on their [heads]! Cause them to be thrown into deep pits, from which they cannot climb out!
11 (Sila) ki bay kout lang yo pap vin etabli sou latè. Mal la va kouri vit dèyè moun vyolans lan.
Do not allow those who slander others to succeed; cause evil things to happen to violent men and destroy them!
12 Mwen konnen ke SENYÈ a va bay soutyen a aflije yo, e fè jistis pou malere a.
Yahweh, I know that you defend those who are oppressed, and that you do what is just/fair for those who are needy/poor.
13 Anverite, moun dwat yo va bay remèsiman a non Ou. Epi moun dwat yo va abite nan prezans Ou.
Righteous [people] will surely thank you [MTY], and they will live (in your presence/with you).
