< Sòm 124 >

1 Yon Sòm pou monte vè tanp lan. Yon Sòm David. Si se pa t SENYÈ a ki te pou nou, kite Israël di koulye a,
A song of degrees, or Psalme of David. If the Lord had not bene on our side, (may Israel now say)
2 Si se pa t SENYÈ a ki te pou nou, lè lezòm te leve kont nou yo,
If the Lord had not bene on our side, when men rose vp against vs,
3 Alò, yo t ap gen tan fin vale nou tou vivan, lè kòlè yo te limen kont nou an.
They had then swallowed vs vp quicke, when their wrath was kindled against vs.
4 Nan lè sa a, dlo yo t ap fin anglouti nou nèt. Kouran dlo yo ta fin pase sou nanm nou.
Then the waters had drowned vs, and the streame had gone ouer our soule:
5 Nan lè sa a, dlo anraje yo t ap fin pase sou nanm nou.
Then had the swelling waters gone ouer our soule.
6 Beni se SENYÈ a, ki pa t livre nou pou chire nan dan yo.
Praysed be the Lord, which hath not giuen vs as a praye vnto their teeth.
7 Nanm nou gen tan fin chape tankou yon zwazo ki sòti nan pèlen a moun k ap fè lachas yo. Pèlen an fin kase e nou chape.
Our soule is escaped, euen as a bird out of the snare of the foulers: the snare is broken, and we are deliuered.
8 Sekou nou se nan non SENYÈ a, ki te fè syèl la ak tè a.
Our helpe is in the Name of the Lord, which hath made heauen and earth.
