1 Poukisa Ou kanpe tèlman lwen, O Senyè? Poukisa Ou kache Ou menm nan tan twoub yo?
Why do thou stand afar off, O Jehovah? Why do thou hide thyself in times of trouble?
2 Nan ògèy pa yo, mechan yo kouri cho dèyè aflije yo. Kite yo kenbe nan menm pèlen ke yo te fè a.
In the pride of the wicked man the poor man is hotly pursued. Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.
3 Paske mechan a ap vin ògeye sou dezi kè li a; li beni moun voras la, e eksprime madichon pou l rejte SENYÈ a.
For the wicked man boasts of his heart's desire. And the greedy man renounces, yea, despises Jehovah.
4 Mechan an nan wotè rega li, refize chache Bondye, Tout panse li se ke: “Nanpwen Bondye.”
The wicked man, in the pride of his countenance, says, He will not require it. All his thoughts are, There is no God.
5 Chemen pa li yo reyisi tout tan; Jijman Ou yo tèlman wo, li pa wè yo. Selon lènmi li yo, li giyonnen yo.
His ways are profane at all times. Thy judgments are far above out of his sight. As for all his adversaries, he puffs at them.
6 Li di a pwòp tèt li: “Mwen p ap ebranle menm; Pandan tout jenerasyon yo, mwen p ap gen pwoblèm ditou.”
He says in his heart, I shall not be moved. To all generations I shall not be in adversity.
7 Bouch li plen ak malediksyon, avèk twonpe moun avèk oprime moun. Anba lang li, se twonpe moun avèk mechanste.
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.
8 Li chita nan anbiskad pou veye vil yo; nan anbiskad yo, li touye inosan yo. Zye li yo veye san bat (sila) ki pa gen espwa yo.
He sits in the lurking-places of the villages. In the covert places he murders the innocent man. His eyes are secretly set against the poor man.
9 Li kache yon kote an kachèt tankou lyon nan nan kav li. Li kache pou kenbe aflije yo; li kenbe aflije yo lè l rale mennen yo rive nan pèlen an.
He lurks in secret as a lion in his covert. He lies in wait to catch the poor man. He catches the poor man when he draws him in his net.
10 Li akwoupi, li pare kò l; konsa malere a vin tonbe pa grif pwisan li yo.
He crouches, he bows down, and helpless men fall by his strong men.
11 Li pale a tèt li: “Bondye bliye. Li kache figi Li; Li p ap janm wè sa.”
He says in his heart, God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.
12 Leve O SENYÈ! O Bondye, leve men Ou wo! Pa bliye aflije yo!
Arise, O Jehovah, O God, lift up thy hand. Do not forget the poor.
13 Poukisa mechan an te meprize Bondye? Li te di nan tèt li: “Ou p ap egzije m sa”.
Why does the wicked man despise God, and say in his heart, Thou will not require it?
14 Ou te wè sa, paske Ou te wè kont mechanste ak agase moun pou pran sa an men. Malere a ap depann de Ou menm; Se Ou ki konn ede òfelen an.
Thou have seen. For thou behold mischief and spite, to repay with thy hand. The poor man commits himself to thee. Thou have been the helper of the fatherless.
15 Kase bra a mechan yo avèk malfektè a! Dekouvri mechanste li yo jiskaske Ou pa twouve l ankò.
Break thou the arm of the sinner and the evil man. His wickedness shall be sought, and shall not be found.
16 SENYÈ a se Wa a pou tout tan! Nasyon yo va peri disparèt de peyi Li a.
Jehovah is King forever and ever. The nations have perished out of his land.
17 O SENYÈ, Ou te tande dezi a enb yo; Ou va ranfòse kè yo, Ou va enkline zòrèy Ou,
Jehovah, thou have heard the desire of the humble. Thou will prepare their heart, thou will cause thine ear to hear,
18 pou bay jistis a òfelen an avèk oprime a, pou lòm ki mache sou tè a, pa koze laperèz ankò.
to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may no more be terrible.
