< Pwovèb 7 >

1 Fis mwen an, kenbe pawòl mwen yo e kache kòmandman mwen yo anndan ou.
[My] son, keep my words, and hide with you my commandments. [My] son, honor the Lord, and you shall be strong; and fear none but him:
2 Kenbe kòmandman mwen yo pou viv, ak enstriksyon mwen yo kon de grenn zye nan tèt ou.
keep my commandments, and you shall live; and [keep] my words as the pupils of [your] eyes.
3 Mare yo sou dwèt ou; ekri yo sou tablo a kè ou.
And bind them on your fingers, and write [them] on the table of your heart.
4 Di a sajès: “Se ou ki sè mwen,” e rele sajès pi bon zanmi ou,
Say that wisdom is your sister, and gain prudence as an acquaintance for yourself;
5 Pou li kab anpeche ou ale jwenn ak yon fanm adiltè; yon fanm etranje a ki fè flate ak pawòl li.
that she may keep you from the strange and wicked woman, if she should assail you with flattering words.
6 Paske bo fenèt lakay mwen, mwen te gade nan fant fenèt mwen an.
For she looks from a window out of her house into the streets, at one whom she may see of the senseless ones, a young man void of understanding,
7 Konsa, mwen te wè pami moun sòt yo, e te rekonèt pami jenn yo, yon jennonm ki te manke bon sans;
passing by the corner in the passages near her house,
8 ki t ap pase nan lari a toupre kwen kay fanm nan. Konsa, li pran chemen pou rive lakay li,
and speaking, in the dark of the evening,
9 nan solèy kouche a, nan aswè, nan mitan lannwit ak nan fènwa.
when there happens [to be] the stillness of night and of darkness:
10 Epi gade, yon fanm vin pwoche li abiye kon pwostitiye ak riz nan kè l.
and the woman meets him having the appearance of a harlot, that causes the hearts of young men to flutter.
11 Li parèt plen kouraj nan rebelyon li. Pye li pa rete lakay li.
And she is fickle, and debauched, and her feet abide not at home.
12 Koulye a nan lari yo, koulye a nan plas yo, lap kache tan nan tout kwen.
For at one time she wanders without, and at [another] time she lies in wait in the streets, at every corner.
13 Konsa, li sezi li, bo li; e ak figi byen ranje, li di li:
Then she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said to him,
14 “Mwen te prèt pou ale fè ofrann lapè yo. Se jodi a, mwen fin peye ve mwen yo.
I have a peace-offering; today I pay my vows:
15 Konsa, mwen te vin rankontre ou, pou jwenn prezans ou; e konsa, mwen te twouve ou.
therefore I came forth to meet you, desiring your face; [and] I have found you.
16 Mwen byen ranje kabann mwen ak kouvèti; avèk bèl dra Égypte yo.
I have spread my bed with sheets, and I have covered it with double tapestry from Egypt.
17 Mwen te flite kabann nan ak pafen flè jasmen, lwil womaren ak kanèl.
I have sprinkled my couch with saffron, and my house with cinnamon.
18 Vini, annou bwè ladann e fè lanmou jis rive nan maten. Annou fè kè nou kontan ak doudous nou yo.
Come, and let us enjoy love until the morning; come, and let us embrace in love.
19 Paske mari m pa lakay la; li ale nan yon gran vwayaj.
For my husband is not at home, but is gone on a long journey,
20 Li te pran yon sak lajan avè l. Jis rive nan plèn lin, l ap retounen lakay.”
having taken in his hand a bundle of money: after many days he will return to his house.
21 Ak anpil ankourajman, li atire li; avèk lèv a flatè, li sedwi li.
So with much converse she prevailed on him to go astray, and with the snares of her lips forced him from [the right path].
22 Sibitman, li swiv li tankou yon bèf k ap monte labatwa, tankou moun sòt kab mache rive nan ne koulan an.
And he followed her, being gently led on, and [that] as an ox is led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a hart shot in the liver with an arrow:
23 Jiskaske yon flèch frennen li nan fwa l; tankou yon zwazo k ap fè vit pou rive nan pèlen. Se konsa, li pa konnen ke sa va koute lavi li.
and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for [his] life.
24 Alò, pou sa, fis yo, koute mwen e okipe pawòl a bouch mwen yo.
Now then, [my] son, listen to me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Pa kite kè ou vire akote nan chemen li yo! Pa vin antre egare nan wout li yo!
Let not your heart turn aside to her ways:
26 Paske, anpil se viktim ke li deja jete anba yo; e anpil se sila ki te mouri akoz li.
for she has wounded and cast down many, and those whom she has slain are innumerable.
27 Lakay li nan wout Sejou mò yo, k ap desann nan chanm lanmò yo. (Sheol h7585)
Her house is the way of hell, leading down to the chambers of death. (Sheol h7585)
