< Pwovèb 29 >
1 Yon nonm ki fè tèt di apre anpil repwòch va vin kraze sibitman san remèd.
He that being often reproved stiffeneth his neck, suddenly shall be hurt, and there be no healing.
2 Lè moun dwat yo vin ogmante, pèp la rejwi; men lè yon moun mechan gouvène, pèp la jemi.
When the righteous become great, the people rejoice, but, when a lawless man beareth rule, a people sigh.
3 Yon nonm ki renmen sajès fè papa l kontan; men sila ki pase tan l ak pwostitiye yo gate byen li.
A man who loveth wisdom, gladdeneth his father, but, a companion of harlots, destroyeth wealth.
4 Avèk jistis, wa a fè tout peyi a vin estab; men yon nonm ki aksepte kòb anba tab boulvèse li.
A king, by justice, shall establish a land, —but, a man open to bribes, bringeth it to ruin.
5 Yon nonm ki flate vwazen li ap ouvri filè pou pla pye li.
A man who flattereth his neighbour, spreadeth, a net, over his steps.
6 Pa transgresyon yon nonm mechan vin pran nan pyèj nèt; men moun dwat la va chante e rejwi.
In the transgression of a wicked man, is a snare, but, the righteous, doth shout in triumph and rejoice.
7 Moun ladwati a gen kè pou dwa malere; men mechan an pa menm konprann afè sa a.
The righteous doth acknowledge the plea of the poor, but, the lawless, regardeth not knowledge.
8 Mokè yo, fè gwo vil la pran dife; men moun saj yo kalme kòlè.
Men given to mockery, inflame a city, —but, wise men, turn away anger.
9 Lè yon nonm saj gen yon kont ak yon moun san konprann, moun san konprann nan anraje oswa ri, e nanpwen repo.
A wise man pleading with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no settlement.
10 Moun k ap vèse san rayi inosan an; men moun dwat yo pwoteje lavi li.
Blood-thirsty men, hate the blameless man, and, as for the upright, they seek his life.
11 Moun san konprann toujou fache; men yon nonm saj kenbe tèt li anba kontwòl.
All his anger, doth a dullard let go, but, a wise man, by keeping it back, stilleth it.
12 Si gouvènè a prete atansyon a manti, tout minis li yo va vin mechan.
When a ruler giveth heed to the word of falsehood, all his attendants, become lawless.
13 Malere a ak opresè a gen yon bagay ki sanble; se SENYÈ a ki mete limyè nan zye tou de.
The poor man and the man of usury, meet together, he that enlighteneth the eyes of them both, is Yahweh.
14 Si yon wa jije pòv yo ak verite, twòn li va etabli jis pou tout tan.
When a king judgeth faithfully the poor, his throne, to futurity, shall be established.
15 Baton ak repwòch bay sajès; men timoun ki fè sa li pito a mennen wont sou manman l.
A rod with rebuke, giveth wisdom, but, a youth unrestrained, bringeth shame to his mother.
16 Lè mechan yo vin plis, transgresyon yo ogmante; men moun dwat yo va wè tonbe yo.
When the lawless become great, transgression increaseth, but, the righteous, shall behold, their ruin.
17 Korije fis ou e li va ba ou rekonfò; anplis, li va bay nanm ou gwo plezi.
Correct thy son, that he may give thee rest, that he may give delight to thy soul.
18 Kote nanpwen vizyon, pèp la san fren; men byen kontan se sila ki kenbe lalwa a.
Where there is no vision, a people is let loose, but, he that keepeth instruction, how happy is he!
19 Pawòl sèl p ap ka enstwi yon esklav; paske malgre li konprann, li p ap reponn.
By words, a servant will not be corrected, though he perceiveth, yet is there no answer.
20 Èske ou wè yon nonm ki pale vit san reflechi? Gen plis espwa pou moun fou a pase li menm.
Thou hast seen a man hasty in his words, —there is, more hope of a dullard, than of him.
21 Sila ki byen swaye esklav li depi li piti a, nan lafen, twouve yon fis.
He that dealeth tenderly with his servant from childhood, in his after life, shall have him for a son.
22 Yon nonm an kòlè pwovoke konfli e yon nonm ki plen fachèz fè anpil tò.
A man given to anger, stirreth up strife, and, he that exceedeth in wrath, aboundeth in transgression.
23 Ògèy a yon nonm va mennen li ba; men yon lespri enb va jwenn respè.
The loftiness of a man, layeth him low, —but, one of a lowly spirit, shall attain unto honour.
24 Sila ki fè konplo ak yon volè rayi pwòp lavi li; li pran sèman an men li pa pale anyen.
He that shareth with a thief, hateth himself, an oath, he heareth, yet may not tell.
25 Lakrent a lòm mennen yon pèlen; men sila ki mete konfyans li nan SENYÈ a va leve wo.
The fear of man, setteth a snare, but, he that trusteth in Yahweh, shall be placed on high.
26 Gen anpil moun k ap chache favè a sila ki gouvène a; men lajistis pou lòm va sòti nan SENYÈ a.
Many, seek the face of a ruler, but, from Yahweh, is the sentence of each one.
27 Tankou yon nonm enjis abominab a moun dwat, yon nonm ladwati abominab a mechan yo.
An abomination to the righteous, is the man of perversity, and, an abomination to the lawless, is a man of straightforward way.
