< Pwovèb 2 >
1 Fis mwen an, si ou resevwa pawòl mwen yo, e gade kòmandman mwen yo nan kè ou,
My son, if thou wilt receive my sayings, and, my commandments, wilt treasure up by thee;
2 e fè zòrèy ou atantif a sajès; e enkline zòrèy ou vè bon konprann,
So that thou direct, unto wisdom, thine ear, bend thy heart, unto understanding;
3 wi, si ou leve vwa w pou sajès; e leve vwa ou vè bon konprann;
Yea if, for understanding, thou cry aloud, for knowledge, utter thy voice;
4 si ou chache li kon ajan, e fè rechèch dèyè li kon trezò ki kache;
If thou seek her as silver, and, like hid treasure, thou search for her,
5 nan lè sa a, ou va dekouvri lakrent SENYÈ a, e dekouvri konesans Bondye a.
Then, shalt thou understand the reverence of Yahweh, and, the knowledge of God, shalt thou find.
6 Paske, SENYÈ a bay sajès. Nan bouch Li, soti konesans ak bon konprann.
For, Yahweh, giveth wisdom, out of his mouth, knowledge and understanding;
7 Li mete sajès nan depo pou moun dwat la. Li se boukliye pou sila ki mache ak entegrite yo,
Yea he treasureth, for the upright, safety, A shield [is he] to them who walk in integrity,
8 Ka p veye chemen lajistis yo, e pwoteje chemen a fidèl Li yo.
To him that observeth the paths of justice, yea, the way of his men of lovingkindness, he doth guard.
9 Konsa, ou va dekouvri ladwati ak jistis, e menm egalite avèk tout bon chemen yo.
Then, shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, and equity—every noble course.
10 Paske, sajès va antre nan kè ou, e konesans va fè ou alèz jis rive nan nanm ou.
When wisdom entereth thy heart, and, knowledge, to thy soul, is sweet,
11 Bon konprann va pwoteje ou, konesans va veye sou ou,
Discretion, shall watch over thee, understanding, shall preserve thee: —
12 pou pwoteje ou kont chemen mal la, kont lòm ki pale bagay pèvès yo.
To rescue thee from the way of the wrongful, from the man that speaketh perverse things;
13 Kont sila ki kite chemen ladwati yo pou mache nan chemen fènwa yo;
From them who forsake the paths of rectitude, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 ki pran plezi nan fè sa ki mal e rejwi nan mechanste mal la.
Who rejoice to do wrong, exult in the perversities of the wrongful;
15 Chemen a sila ki vin kwochi yo e ki vin gaye kò yo nan tout sa yo fè.
Whose paths, are twisted, and they are tortuous in their tracks:
16 Pou delivre ou soti nan men fanm etranje a, soti nan men fanm adiltè ki flate ak pawòl li;
To rescue thee, from the woman that is a stranger, from the female unknown, who with her speeches seduceth;
17 ki kite konpanyen jenès li a, e ki bliye akò a Bondye li;
Who forsaketh the friend of her youth, and, the covenant of her God, hath forgotten;
18 paske lakay li mennen a lanmò e tras a pla pye li yo rive kote mò yo.
For she hath appointed, unto death, her house, and unto the shades, her courses;
19 Pèsòn ki ale kote li menm, pa retounen ankò, ni yo pa jwenn pa lavi.
None who go in unto her, come back, neither attain they unto the paths of life:
20 Akoz sa a, ou va mache nan chemen a sila ki bon yo, e swiv tras a moun ladwati yo.
To the end that thou walk in the way of good men, and, the paths of the righteous, that thou observe.
21 Paske moun dwat yo va viv nan peyi a, e sila ki san tò yo va rete ladann;
For, the upright, shall abide on the earth, —and, the men of integrity, shall remain therein;
22 men mechan yo va koupe retire nèt de peyi a, e moun trèt yo va dechouke de li.
But, the lawless, out of the earth, shall be cut off, and, traitors, shall they tear away therefrom.
