< Abdias 1 >
1 Vizyon Abdias la. Konsa pale Senyè BONDYE a konsènan Édom. Nou te tande yon rapò soti nan SENYÈ a, yon mesaje te voye pami nasyon yo. Li t ap di: “Leve, annou ale goumen kont li”—
The vision of Obdias. Thus saith the Lord God to Idumea; I have heard a report from the Lord, and he has sent forth a message to the nations.
2 Gade byen, Mwen va fè ou vin piti pami nasyon yo. Ou vin meprize anpil.
Arise ye, and let us rise up against her to war.
3 Awogans a kè nou te twonpe nou, nou menm ki rete nan falèz wòch yo, nan wotè a abitasyon nou, ki di nan kè nou: “Se kilès ki ka rale m rive atè?”
Behold, I have made thee small among the Gentiles: thou art greatly dishonoured. The pride of thine heart has elated thee, dwelling [as thou dost] in the holes of the rocks, [as one that] exalts his habitation, saying in his heart, Who will bring me down to the ground?
4 “Menmsi nou bati anlè tankou èg, menmsi nou mete nich nou pami zetwal yo, mwen va rale nou fè nou desann soti la,” deklare SENYÈ a.
If thou shouldest mount up as the eagle, and if thou shouldest make thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.
5 Si vòlè te vin kote nou, vòlè nan lannwit yo— o ala devaste nou va vin devaste— èske yo pa t ap vòlè sèlman pou yo ta jwenn ase? Si ranmasè rezen yo te rive kote nou èske yo pa t ap kite kèk ti rès?
If thieves came in to thee, or robbers by night, where wouldest thou have been cast away? would they not have stolen [just] enough for themselves? and if grape-gatherers went in to thee, would they not leave a gleaning?
6 Ala depouye Ésaü va vin depouye! Ala fouye yo va fouye trezò kache li yo!
How has Esau been searched out, and [how] have his hidden things been detected?
7 Tout sila ki fè alyans avèk nou yo va voye nou kote fwontyè a. Sila ki anpè ak nou yo te twonpe nou, e yo deja genyen nou. Zanmi ki manje pen nou yo ap fè pèlen pou nou. Nanpwen bon konprann nan li.
They sent thee to thy coasts: all the men of thy covenant have withstood thee; thine allies have prevailed against thee, they have set snares under thee: they have no understanding.
8 Èske Mwen p ap nan jou sa a, deklare SENYÈ a; “Detwi mesye saj Édom yo, e retire bon konprann ki soti sou mòn Ésaü a?
In that day, saith the Lord, I will destroy the wise men out of Idumea, and understanding out of the mount of Esau.
9 Answit, mesye pwisan nou yo va vin enkyete, O Théman, jis tout kapab koupe retire nèt de mòn Ésaü ak gwo masak.
And thy warriors from Thaeman shall be dismayed, to the end that man may be cut off from the mount of Esau.
10 Akoz vyolans anvè frè nou Jacob, nou va vin kouvri ak wont, e nou va vin koupe retire nèt jis pou tout tan.
Because of the slaughter and the sin [committed against] thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
11 Nan jou ke nou te kanpe a distans, nan jou ke etranje yo te bwote tout byen li, lòt nasyon yo te antre nan pòtay li, e te fè tiraj osò pou Jérusalem—nou menm tou te sanble ak yo.
From the day that thou stoodest in opposition [to him], in the days when foreigners were taking captive his forces, and strangers entered into his gates, and cast lots on Jerusalem, thou also wast as one of them.
12 Pa vin rejwi ou nan jou malè frè ou a, ni pa rejwi ou sou fis a Juda yo nan jou destriksyon yo a. Pa anfle ou menm nan jou malè yo.
And thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day of strangers; nor shouldest thou have rejoiced against the children of Juda in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have boasted in the day of [their] affliction.
13 Pa antre nan pòtay pèp Mwen an nan jou malè yo. Ni pa rejwi ou de gwo dega nan jou malè yo. Pa piyaje byen yo nan jou malè yo.
Neither shouldest thou have gone into the gates of the people in the day of their troubles; nor yet shouldest thou have looked upon their gathering in the day of their destruction, nor shouldest thou have attacked their host in the day of their perishing.
14 Pa kanpe nan kafou chemen pou touye sila k ap sove ale sòti nan yo. Epi pa livre a lènmi sila ki chape nan jou malè yo.
Neither shouldest thou have stood at the opening of their passages, to destroy utterly those of them that were escaping; neither shouldest thou have shut up his fugitives in the day of affliction.
15 Paske jou SENYÈ a ap rapwoche sou tout nasyon yo! Jan ou te fè a, se konsa yo va fè ou.
For the day of the Lord is near upon all the Gentiles: as thou have done, so shall it be [done] to thee: thy recompense shall be returned on thine [own] head.
16 Paske menm jan ou te bwè sou mòn sen Mwen an, Konsa tout nasyon yo va bwè tout tan. Yo va bwè, yo va vale, l ap vin konsi yo pa t janm te la.
For as thou hast drunk upon my holy mountain, [so] shall all the nations drink wine; they shall drink, and go down, and be as if they were not.
17 Men sou mòn Sion, va genyen sila ki chape yo, e mòn sa va sen. Epi lakay Jacob va posede posesyon yo.
But on mount Sion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be a sanctuary; and the house of Jacob shall take for an inheritance those that took them for an inheritance.
18 Answit, lakay Jacob va vin yon dife, e lakay Joseph va vin yon flanm; men lakay Ésaü va vin kon pay. Konsa, yo va limen dife sou yo pou brile yo nèt pou pa gen ki rete lakay Ésaü ankò,” paske SENYÈ a fin pale.
And the house of Jacob shall be fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau [shall be] for stubble; and [Israel] shall flame forth against them, and shall devour them, and there shall not be a corn-field [left] to the house of Esau; because the Lord has spoken.
19 Moun Negev la va vin posede mòn a Ésaü ak sila a Schfela yo, gwo plèn Philistie a. Yo va posede teritwa Éphraïm, teritwa Samarie, e Benjamin va vin posede Galaad, tou.
And they [that dwell] in the south shall inherit the mount of Esau, and they in the plain the Philistines: and they shall inherit the mount of Ephraim, and the plain of Samaria, and Benjamin, and the land of Galaad.
20 Epi egzile a lame fis Israël sa a, ki pami Kananeyen yo, va posede jis rive Sarepta, e egzile Jérusalem ki Sepharad yo va vin posede vil Negev yo.
And this [shall be] the domain of the captivity of the children of Israel, the land of the Chananites as far as Sarepta; and the captives of Jerusalem [shall inherit] as far as Ephratha; they shall inherit the cities of the south.
21 Liberatè yo va monte Mòn Sion pou jije mòn Ésaü a e wayòm nan va vin pou a SENYÈ a.
And they that escape shall come up from mount Sion, to take vengeance on the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.
