< Resansman 16 >

1 Alò, Koré, fis a Jitsehar, ansanm avèk Dathan ak Abiram, fis a Éliab avèk On, fis a Péleth, fis a Ruben yo, te pran desizyon. Yo te pran moun avèk yo,
One day Korah, who was the son of Izhar and a descendant of Levi’s son Kohath, conspired with Dathan and Abiram, who were the sons of Eliab, and On, who was the son of Peleth. Those three men were from the tribe of Reuben.
2 epi yo te vin souleve devan Moïse. Ansanm avèk kèk nan fis Israël yo, de-san-senkant nan chèf kongregasyon an, mesye ki te byen rekonèt, ki te chwazi pa asanble a,
Korah and those other three men incited 250 other people who were leaders among the Israeli people to join them in rebelling against Moses/me.
3 yo te reyini ansanm kont Moïse avèk Aaron. Yo te di yo: “Nou te ale ase lwen, paske tout kongregasyon an sen, yo tout, e SENYÈ a nan mitan yo! Konsa, poukisa nou egzalte tèt nou pi wo pase asanble SENYÈ a?”
They came together to criticize Aaron and Moses/me. They said to them/us, “You two are using more [authority] than you should! Yahweh has set apart all of us Israeli people, and he is with/helping all of us. So why do you act as though you are more important than the rest of us people who belong to Yahweh [RHQ]?”
4 Lè Moïse te tande sa, li te tonbe sou figi li.
When Moses/I heard what they were saying, he/I prostrated himself/myself on the ground.
5 Li te pale avèk Koré ak tout konpanyen li yo. Li te di: “Demen maten, SENYÈ a va montre kilès ki apatyen ak Li e kilès ki sen, epi Li va fè moun sa a vin touprè Li. Menm sila ke Li chwazi a, Li va mennen li toupre Li menm.
Then he/I said to Korah and those [Israeli leaders] who were with Korah, “Tomorrow morning Yahweh will show us whom he has chosen to be his [priest], and who is holy and allowed to come near to him. Yahweh will permit [only] those whom he chooses to come into his presence.
6 Fè sa: Fè Koré ak tout konpanyen li pran asanswa a pou kont nou.
So Korah, tomorrow you and those who are with you must prepare your pans to burn incense.
7 Konsa, mete dife ladann, e poze lansan sou yo nan prezans a SENYÈ a, demen. Moun nan ke SENYÈ a chwazi a, va sila ki sen an. Nou gen tan ale ase lwen, fis a Levi yo!”
Then you must light a fire in them and burn the incense in the presence of Yahweh. Then we will see which one of us Yahweh has chosen to be his holy servant. It is you men who are descendants of Levi who are trying to use more [authority] than you should!”
8 Moïse te di a Koré: “Tande koulye a fis a Levi yo!
Then Moses/I spoke again to Korah. He/I said, “You men who are descendants of Levi, listen to me!
9 Èske li pa sifi pou nou ke Bondye Israël la te separe nou soti nan tout rès kongregasyon Israël la, pou mennen nou touprè a Li menm? Pou fè sèvis tabènak SENYÈ a, e pou vin kanpe devan kongregasyon an pou sèvi yo?
The God of us Israelis has chosen all of you to be close to him in order that you can work for him at his Sacred Tent and serve the people. (Is that unimportant/Does that mean nothing) to you [RHQ]?
10 E ke li te mennen nou touprè, tout frè ou yo Koré, fis a Levi yo avèk ou? Epi èske w ap chache pozisyon prèt la tou?
Yahweh has brought you, [Korah], and your fellow descendants of Levi, near to himself. Now are you demanding to become priests also?
11 Pou sa, ou menm avèk tout konpanyen ou yo vin rasanble ansanm kont SENYÈ a! Men pou Aaron, kilès li ye pou nou vin plenyen kont li?”
It is really Yahweh against whom you and your fellow descendants of Levi are rebelling. Aaron is not the one about whom you are really complaining [RHQ].”
12 Konsa, Moïse te voye yon lòd bay Dathan avèk Abiram, fis a Éliab yo, men yo te di: “Nou p ap monte.”
Then Moses/I summoned Dathan and Abiram, but [they refused to come]. They [sent a message] saying, “We will not come to you!
13 Èske sa pa ase ke ou te mennen nou sòti nan yon peyi ki koule avèk lèt ak siwo myèl pou fè nou vin mouri nan dezè a, men ou ta, osi, vin chèf sou nou?
You brought us out of Egypt, which was a very fertile [IDM] land, in order to cause us to die here in this desert. That was bad. But now you are also trying to boss us [RHQ], and that is worse.
14 Vrèman, ou pa t mennen nou nan yon peyi ki koule avèk lèt ak siwo myèl, ni ou pa t bannou yon eritaj tèren, avèk chan rezen. Èske ou ta pete zye a mesye sa yo? Nou p ap monte?
You have not given us a new land to live in, a land that has good fields and vineyards. You are only trying to [RHQ] trick these people. So we will not come to you.”
15 Alò Moïse te vin byen fache. Li te di a SENYÈ a: “Pa aksepte ofrann pa yo! Mwen pa t pran menm yon bourik nan men yo, ni mwen pa t fè mal a okenn nan yo.”
Then Moses/I became very angry. He/I said to Yahweh, “Do not accept the grain offerings that they have brought. I have not taken anything from them, not even one donkey, and I have never done anything wrong to them, [so they have no reason to complain about me].”
16 Moïse te di a Koré: “Ou menm avèk tout konpanyen ou yo, parèt devan SENYÈ a demen; ni ou menm, yo menm ansanm avèk Aaron.
Then Moses/I said to Korah, “You and all those who are with you must come here tomorrow and stand in front of Yahweh. Aaron will also be here.
17 Chak nan nou pran veso dife li, mete lansan sou li, e chak nan nou pote veso lansan an devan SENYÈ a, de-san-senkant veso dife; osi ou menm avèk Aaron va chak pote veso dife pa li a.”
You and all the 250 men who are with you must each take a pan in which to burn incense, and put incense in it, to [burn it to be] an offering to Yahweh. Aaron will do the same thing.”
18 Konsa, yo chak te pran pwòp veso dife a e te mete dife ladann. Yo te mete lansan sou li, epi yo te kanpe nan pòtay tant asanble a, avèk Moïse ak Aaron.
So [the next day] each of those men got a pan to burn incense. They put in it incense and hot coals to light it, and then they all stood at the entrance of the Sacred Tent with Aaron and Moses/me.
19 Konsa, Koré te rasanble tout kongregasyon anfas yo a nan pòtay a tant asanble a. Epi glwa a SENYÈ a te vin parèt a tout kongregasyon an.
Then Korah summoned all the people who supported him and who were against Moses/me, and they also gathered at the entrance of the tent. Then the glory of Yahweh appeared to all of them/us,
20 SENYÈ a te pale avèk Moïse ak Aaron, e te di:
and Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me,
21 “Separe nou nan mitan kongregasyon sila a, pou Mwen kapab manje yo koulye a.”
“Get away from all these people, in order that I can get rid of them immediately!”
22 Men yo te tonbe sou figi yo e te di: “O Bondye, Bondye a lespri de tout chè a, èske Ou va an kòlè avèk tout kongregasyon an lè yon sèl moun fè peche?”
But Aaron and Moses/I prostrated themselves/ourselves on the ground. We pleaded with Yahweh, saying, “God, you are the one who caused all these people to live [MTY]. Only one of these men has sinned; so, (is it right for you to be angry with all the people?/it is not right for you to be angry with all the people!) [RHQ]”
23 SENYÈ a te pale avèk Moïse e te di:
Yahweh said to Moses/me,
24 “Pale avèk kongregasyon an e di: ‘Sòti nan andwa tant Koré yo, Dathan avèk Abiram!’”
“[Okay], but tell all the people to get away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.”
25 Alò, Moïse te leve ale vè Dathan ak Abiram, avèk ansyen a Israël ki t ap swiv li yo.
So Moses/I stood up and went to the tents of Dathan and Abiram. The Israeli leaders followed him/me.
26 Li te pale avèk kongregasyon an. Li te di: “Kite tant a moun mechan sa yo, e pa touche anyen ki pou yo, sinon, nou va vin pote ale ak tout peche yo.”
He/I told the people, “Get away from the tents of these wicked men, and do not touch anything that belongs to them! If you touch anything, you will die because of their sins!”
27 Konsa, yo te soti nan tant a Koré yo, Dathan ak Abiram de tout kote. Dathan ak Abiram te vin kanpe nan pòtay tant pa yo a, ansanm avèk madanm yo, e fis yo, ansanm ak timoun yo.
So all the people moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Dathan and Abiram came out of their tents with their wives and children and babies, and stood at the entrances of their tents.
28 Moïse te di: “Selon sa, nou va konnen ke SENYÈ a te voye mwen pou fè tout zèv sa yo; paske sa se pa nan tèt mwen y ap soti.
Then Moses/I said, “I was not the one who decided to do all these things that I have done. It was Yahweh who [chose me and] sent me to do them. And now he will prove that to you.
29 Si mesye sila yo mouri yon mò natirèl, oswa si yo soufri desten a tout moun nòmal, alò SENYÈ a pa t voye mwen.
If these men die in a normal way, then it will be clear that Yahweh did not choose me.
30 Men si SENYÈ a fè vin parèt yon bagay tounèf, tè a vin ouvri bouch li pou vale yo nèt avèk tout sa ki pou yo, e yo desann tou vivan kote mò yo ye a, alò, konsa, nou va konprann ke mesye sila yo te meprize SENYÈ a.” (Sheol h7585)
But if Yahweh does something that has never happened before, if he causes the ground [that is under their feet] to open up and swallow these men [and their families] and all their possessions, and they fall into the opening and are buried while they are still alive, then you will know that these men have insulted Yahweh.” (Sheol h7585)
31 Pandan li te fin pale tout pawòl sa yo, tè ki te anba yo a te fann e li te ouvri.
As soon as Moses/I said this, the ground split open beneath those men.
32 Konsa, latè te louvri bouch li e te vale yo nèt avèk moun lakay yo, ak tout mesye ki te apatyen a Koré avèk tout byen yo.
It swallowed them and their families and all those who were standing there with Korah and all of their possessions.
33 Konsa, yo menm avèk tout sa ki te pou yo, te desann vivan nan sejou mò yo. Tè a te vin fèmen sou yo, e yo te peri nan mitan asanble a. (Sheol h7585)
They fell into the opening in the ground while they were still alive, and all their possessions fell into the opening also. They disappeared, and the ground closed back up again. (Sheol h7585)
34 Tout Israël ki te antoure yo te sove ale pandan yo t ap rele, paske yo te di: “Tè a kapab vin vale nou nèt!”
They screamed as they fell, and all the people who were standing nearby heard them scream. The people [were terrified and] cried out as they ran away, saying, “[We do not want] the ground to swallow us also!”
35 Dife te sòti nan SENYÈ a pou brile de san senkant mesye ki te ofri lansan yo.
And then a fire from Yahweh came down [from the sky] and burned up the 250 men who were burning the incense!
36 SENYÈ a te pale avèk Moïse. Li te di:
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
37 “Di a Éléazar, fis a Aaron an, prèt la, ke li va ranmase veso lansan yo nan mitan dife a, paske yo sen. Epi nou va gaye sann dife k ap brile lwen kan an, paske yo sen.
“Tell Aaron’s son Eleazar to take the pans that had incense in them away from the fire and to scatter the burning coals. The pans that those men [were carrying] are (holy/dedicated to me) [because they burned incense to me in them].
38 Epi menm selon veso lansan a mesye sa yo ki te peche e te peye ak lavi yo, kite yo fin bat yo byen plat pou sèvi yo pou kouvri lotèl la, pwiske yo te prezante yo devan SENYÈ a. Yo sen. Konsa, yo va sèvi kòm yon sign a fis Israël yo.”
Those men have now died because of their sin; so [Eleazar must] take their pans and hammer the metal to make it become very thin. He must make a covering for the altar with that metal. Those pans were used to offer incense to me, so they are (holy/dedicated to me). [What happened to] those pans will now warn the Israeli people.”
39 Éléazar, prèt la, te pran veso lansan ki te fèt an bwonz ke mesye ki te brile yo te ofri, epi yo te bat yo pou fè yo plat pou kouvri lotèl la,
So Eleazar the priest collected the 250 pans for burning incense that had been used by the men who died in the fire. He hammered the pans very thin to make a covering for the altar, as Yahweh told Moses/me should be done.
40 kòm yon sonj komemoratif a fis Israël yo pou pèsòn ki pa nan ras Aaron pa ta dwe pwoche pou brile lansan devan SENYÈ a; jis pou li pa devni tankou Koré ak konpanyen li yo—jis jan ke SENYÈ a te pale a li pa Moïse la.
That warned the Israeli people that only those who were descendants of Aaron were permitted to burn incense for an offering to Yahweh. If anyone else did that, the same thing that happened to Korah and those who were with him would happen to them.
41 Men nan pwochen jou a, tout kongregasyon fis Israël yo te bougonnen kont Moïse avèk Aaron. Yo te di: “Se nou ki touye pèp SENYÈ a.”
But the following morning, all the Israeli people started to complain against Aaron and Moses/me, saying “You have killed many people who belonged to Yahweh!”
42 Lè kongregasyon an te reyini ansanm kont Moïse avèk Aaron, yo te gade vè tant asanble a, e vwala, nwaj la te kouvri li e glwa SENYÈ a te parèt.
When all the people gathered together to protest about what Aaron and Moses/I had done, they looked at the Sacred Tent and saw that the sacred cloud had covered it, and the glory of Yahweh had appeared.
43 Alò, Moïse avèk Aaron te vini devan tant asanble a.
Aaron and Moses/I went and stood in front of the Sacred Tent.
44 Konsa, SENYÈ a te pale a Moïse. Li te di:
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
45 “Mete ou lwen kongregasyon sila a, pou Mwen kapab detwi yo kounye a menm.” Yo te tonbe sou figi yo.
“Get away from these people, in order that I can get rid of them immediately [without injuring you two]!” But Aaron and Moses/I prostrated themselves/ourselves on the ground [and prayed].
46 Moïse te di a Aaron: “Pran veso lansan an, mete dife lotèl la ladann. Mete lansan an sou li e pote li vit bay kongregasyon an pou fè ekspiyasyon pou yo. Paske lakòlè gen tan sòti nan SENYÈ a. Gwo epidemi an kòmanse!”
Moses/I said to Aaron, “Quickly take another pan and put in it some burning/hot coals from the altar. Put incense in the pan, and carry it out among the people to atone for the sins of the people. Yahweh is very angry with them, and [I know that] a (severe plague/bad sickness) has already started among them.”
47 Alò Aaron te pran li jan Moïse te pale a. Li te kouri nan mitan asanble a, paske, gade byen, gwo epidemi an te kòmanse pami pèp la. Konsa li te mete lansan an pou fè ekspiyasyon pou pèp la.
So Aaron did what Moses/I told him. He took the burning incense out among the people. The plague had already started to strike the people, but Aaron continued to burn the incense so that God would forgive them for the sins they had committed.
48 Li te kanpe antre mò yo ak moun vivan, e gwo epidemi an te rete.
He stood between the people who had already died and those who were still alive, and then the plague stopped.
49 Men sila ki te mouri nan gwo epidemi yo te katòz-mil-sèt-san, anplis sila ki te mouri akoz Koré yo.
But 14,700 people had already died from that plague/sickness, in addition to the people who died with Korah.
50 Alò, Aaron te retounen vè Moïse nan pòtay tant asanble a, paske gwo epidemi an te vin rete.
Then after the plague had ended, Aaron and Moses/I returned to the entrance of the Sacred Tent.
