< Resansman 14 >
1 Epi tout kongregasyon an te leve vwa yo pou te rele, e pèp la te kriye nan nwit lan.
That night all the community wept loudly.
2 Tout fis Israël yo te bougonnen kont Moïse ak Aaron. Tout kongregasyon an te di yo: “Pito ke nou te mouri nan peyi Égypte la! O pito nou te mouri nan dezè sa a!
All the people of Israel criticized Moses and Aaron. The whole community said to them, “We wish we had died in the land of Egypt, or here in this wilderness!
3 Poukisa SENYÈ a ap mennen nou nan peyi sa a, pou tonbe anba nepe? Madanm nou yo avèk pitit nou yo va devni piyay. Èske li pa t ap pi bon pou nou pou retounen an Égypte?”
Why did Yahweh bring us to this land to die by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become victims. Is it not better for us to return to Egypt?”
4 Epi yo te di youn lòt: “Annou chwazi yon chèf, pou retounen an Égypte.”
They said to each another, “Let us choose another leader, and let us return to Egypt.”
5 Konsa, Moïse avèk Aaron te tonbe sou figi yo nan prezans a tout asanble kongregasyon a fis Israël yo.
Then Moses and Aaron lay facedown before all the assembly of the community of the people of Israel.
6 Josué, fis a Nun lan avèk Caleb, fis a Jephaunné a, nan sila ki te fè espyonaj nan peyi a, te chire rad yo.
Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were some of those sent to examine the land, tore their clothes.
7 Yo te pale avèk tout kongregasyon a fis Israël yo, e te di: “Peyi ke nou te pase ladann pou fè ankèt la, se yon vrèman bon peyi.
They spoke to all the community of the people of Israel. They said, “The land that we passed through and examined is a very good land.
8 Si SENYÈ a kontan avèk nou, alò, Li va mennen nou nan peyi sa a pou bannou li—yon peyi ki koule avèk lèt ak siwo myèl.
If Yahweh is pleased with us, then he will take us into this land and give it to us. The land flows with milk and honey.
Pwoteksyon yo ale, e SENYÈ a avèk nou. Pa pè yo.”
But do not rebel against Yahweh, and do not fear the people in the land, for they are bread to us. Their protection will be removed from them, because Yahweh is with us. Do not fear them.”
10 Men tout kongregasyon an te kòmanse lapide yo avèk kout wòch. Konsa laglwa SENYÈ a te parèt nan tant asanble a a tout fis Israël yo.
Then all the congregation said to stone them with stones. But the glory of Yahweh appeared at the tent of meeting to all the people of Israel.
11 SENYÈ a te di a Moïse: “Pou konbyen de tan, moun sa yo va desann mwen konsa? Pou konbyen de tan yo va refize kwè nan Mwen, malgre tout sign ke M te fè nan mitan yo?
Yahweh said to Moses, “How long must this people despise me? How long must they fail to trust me, despite all the signs of my power that I have done among them?
12 Mwen va frape yo avèk gwo mizè. Mwen va dizerite yo. Mwen va fè ou menm vin fòme yon nasyon pi gwo e pi fò ke yo.”
I will attack them with plague, disinherit them, and make from your own clan a nation that will be greater and mightier than they are.”
Moses said to Yahweh, “If you do this, then the Egyptians will hear about it, because you rescued this people from them by your power.
Paske Ou menm, O SENYÈ a, yo fè wè fasafas, e nwaj Ou kanpe sou yo; epi Ou ale devan yo nan yon pilye nwaj pandan lajounen ak yon pilye dife pandan lannwit la.
They will tell it to this land's inhabitants. They have heard that you, Yahweh, are present with this people, because you are seen face to face. Your cloud stands over our people. You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.
Now if you kill this people as one man, then the nations that have heard of your fame will speak and say,
16 ‘Akoz SENYÈ a pa t kab mennen pèp sa nan peyi ke Li te pwomèt yo avèk sèman an, pou sa, li te detwi yo nan dezè a.’
'Because Yahweh could not take this people into the land that he swore to give them, he has killed them in the wilderness.'
17 “Men koulye a, mwen priye, pou pwisans a SENYÈ a vin gwo, jis jan ke Ou te deklare a,
Now, I beg you, use your great power. For you have said,
18 ‘SENYÈ a lan nan fè kòlè; Li ranpli avèk lanmou dous, ki padone inikite avèk transgresyon yo. Li p ap janm bliye tò a koupab yo, men Li va vizite inikite a papa yo sou pitit yo jis rive nan twazyèm ak katriyèm jenerasyon.’
'Yahweh is slow to anger and abundant in covenant faithfulness. He forgives iniquity and transgression. He will by no means clear the guilty when he brings the punishment of the ancestors' sin on their descendants, to the third and fourth generation.'
19 “Padone, mwen priye Ou, inikite a pèp sa a selon grandè lanmou dous Ou a, jis jan ke Ou menm, osi, te padone pèp sa a, depi an Égypte pou jis rive koulye a.”
Pardon, I plead with you, this people's sin because of the greatness of your covenant faithfulness, just as you have always forgiven this people from the time they were in Egypt until now.”
20 Konsa, SENYÈ a te di: “Mwen te padone yo, jan ou te mande a;
Yahweh said, “I have pardoned them in keeping with your request,
21 men vrèman, jan Mwen viv la, tout latè va ranpli avèk laglwa SENYÈ a.
but truly, as I live, and as all the earth will be filled with my glory,
all those people who saw my glory and the signs of power that I did in Egypt and in the wilderness—they have still tempted me these ten times and have not listened to my voice.
23 Pa gen youn nan yo k ap wè peyi ke M te sèmante a papa yo a, ni p ap gen nan sila ki te rejte M yo, k ap wè l.
So I say that they will certainly not see the land about which I made an oath to their ancestors. Not one of them who despised me will see it,
24 Men sèvitè Mwen an, Caleb, akoz li te gen yon lòt lespri, e li te swiv Mwen nèt, Mwen va mennen l nan peyi kote li te antre a, e desandan li yo va vin pran posesyon li.
except for my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit. He has followed me fully; I will bring him into the land which he went to examine. His descendants will possess it.
25 Alò, moun Amalec avèk Canaran yo ap viv nan vale yo. Vire demen pou pati pou dezè a pa chemen Lamè Wouj la.
(Now the Amalekites and Canaanites lived in the valley.) Tomorrow turn and go to the wilderness by the way of the Sea of Reeds.”
26 “SENYÈ a te pale avèk Moïse, e te di:
Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron. He said,
27 Pou konbyen de tan, Mwen va sipòte kongregasyon mechan sila k ap bougonnen kont Mwen an? Mwen fenk tande plent ke fis Israël yo ap fè kont Mwen.
“How long must I tolerate this evil community that criticizes me? I have heard the complaining of the people of Israel against me.
28 “Di yo: ‘Jan Mwen vivan an, di SENYÈ a, mwen va fè pou ou tout bagay jan Mwen te tande ou di a.
Say to them, 'As I live,' says Yahweh, 'as you have spoken in my hearing, I will do this to you:
29 Kadav nou yo va tonbe nan dezè sila a, menm tout mesye konte yo, nou tout soti nan ventan oswa plis, ki te bougonnen kont Mwen yo,
Your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness, all you who complained against me, you who were counted in the census, the whole number of the people from twenty years old and upward.
30 vrèman, nou p ap antre nan peyi kote Mwen te sèmante pou mete nou an, sof Caleb, fis a Jephunné a ak Jousé, fis a Nun nan.
You will certainly not go into the land that I promised to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
31 Men pitit nou yo, ke nou te di ki ta devni yon objè lachas— Mwen va mennen yo antre ladann. Yo va konnen peyi ke nou menm te rejte a.
But your little ones who you said would be victims, I will take them into the land. They will experience the land that you have rejected!
32 “‘Men pou nou menm, kadav nou va tonbe nan dezè sila a.
As for you, your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness.
33 Fis nou yo va vin bèje pandan karantan nan dezè a, e yo va soufri pou enfidelite nou yo jiskaske kadav nou kouche nan dezè a.
Your children will be shepherds in the wilderness for forty years. They must bear the consequences of your acts of rebellion until the end of your corpses in the wilderness.
34 Selon nonb de jou ke nou te fè ankèt nan peyi a, karant jou, pou chak jou, nou va pote inikite nou yo pandan 1 nan, Ki fè karantan total, e nou va konprann opozisyon Mwen an.’
Just as the number of the days during which you examined the land—forty days, you must likewise bear the consequences of your sins for forty years—one year for every day, and you must know what it is like for me to oppose you.
35 Mwen, SENYÈ a te pale.
I, Yahweh, have spoken. I will certainly do this to all this evil community that is gathered together against me. They will be completely cut off, and here they will die.'”
36 Pou mesye ke Moïse te voye pou fè ankèt nan peyi a, e ki te retounen pou fè tout kongregasyon an bougonnen kont Li yo lè yo te vin sòti avèk yon move rapò sou peyi a,
So the men Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made the entire community grumble against Moses by spreading a bad report about the land—
37 menm mesye sila yo ki te fè sòti rapò byen move a, yo te vin mouri akoz yon epidemi devan SENYÈ a.
these men who had brought out a bad report about the land were struck down, and they died of a plague before Yahweh.
38 Men Josué, fis Nun nan ak Caleb, fis a Jephaunné a te rete vivan pami sila ki te ale fè espyonaj peyi a.
Of those men who had gone to spy out the land, only Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh remained alive.
When Moses reported these words to all the people of Israel, they mourned very deeply.
Yo te di: “Men nou isit la! Nou te vrèman fè peche, men nou va monte vè kote ke SENYÈ a te pwomèt la.”
They rose up early in the morning and went to the top of the mountain and said, “Look, we are here, and we will go to the place that Yahweh has promised, for we have sinned.”
41 Men Moïse te di: “Poukisa nou ap transgrese kòmandman a SENYÈ a, lè sa p ap reyisi?
But Moses said, “Why are you now violating Yahweh's command? You will not succeed.
42 Pa monte, oswa nou va frape devan lènmi nou yo, paske SENYÈ a pa pami nou.
Do not go, because Yahweh is not with you to prevent you from being defeated by your enemies.
43 Paske, moun Amalec yo ak Kananeyen yo va la devan nou, e nou va vin tonbe anba nepe, akoz ke nou te vire an aryè kite SENYÈ a. Konsa, SENYÈ a p ap avèk nou.”
The Amalekites and Canaanites are there, and you will die by the sword because you turned back from following Yahweh. So he will not be with you.”
44 Men san prekosyon, yo te monte nan krèt peyi kolin nan. Men ni lach temwayaj la, ni Moïse te kite kan an.
But they presumed to go up into the hill country; however, neither Moses nor the ark of the covenant of Yahweh left the camp.
Then the Amalekites came down, and also the Canaanites who lived on those hills. They attacked the Israelites and defeated them all the way to Hormah.
