< Malachi 1 >
1 Revelasyon pawòl SENYÈ a bay Israël pa Malachie.
The prophecy of the word of the Lord to Israel by means of Malachi.
2 “Mwen te renmen nou,” pale SENYÈ a. Men ou di: “Nan kisa ou te renmen nou an?” “Se pa Ésaü ki te frè Jacob?” deklare SENYÈ a. “Men se Jacob Mwen te renmen;
I have loved you, so hath said the Lord: yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Is not Esau brother to Jacob? saith the Lord: yet I loved Jacob;
3 men Mwen te rayi Ésaü. Mwen te fè mòn li yo vin yon kote dezole, e Mwen te livre eritaj li bay chen mawon dezè yo.”
And Esau I hated; and I rendered his mountains a desert, and his heritage a dwelling for the monsters of the wilderness.
4 Tandiske Edom di: “Yo fin bat nou nèt, men nou va retounen vin bati sou ranblè yo;” konsa pale SENYÈ Dèzame yo: “Yo va bati, men mwen va jete; konsa, moun va rele yo peyi mechan an, e pèp sou sila SENYÈ a fache pou tout tan an.”
Should Edom even say, We are impoverished; but we will return and build the ruined places: thus hath said the Lord of hosts, They may indeed build, but I will surely throw down; and men shall call them, The territory of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord hath indignation to eternity.
5 Zye nou va wè sa e nou va di: “SENYÈ a gran, menm pi lwen lizyè Israël la!”
And your eyes shall see it; and ye shall then say, The Lord will be magnified beyond the territory of Israel.
6 “Yon fis onore papa li, e yon sèvitè onore mèt li. Alò, si Mwen se yon papa, kote onè pa M nan? Epi si Mwen se yon mèt, kote respè M nan?” pale SENYÈ Dèzame yo a prèt yo ki meprize non Mwen an. “Men nou di: ‘Nan kisa nou te meprize non Ou an?’
A son honoreth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is my honor? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the Lord of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name; and ye say, wherein have we despised thy name?
7 N ap ofri pen ki souye sou lotèl Mwen an. Men nou di: ‘Nan kisa nou te souye Ou a?’ Nan sa, n ap di: ‘Tab SENYÈ a meprizab.’
Ye offer upon my altar polluted bread; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the Lord is contemptible.
And if ye bring near the blind to sacrifice it, is this not evil? and if ye bring near the lame and the sick, is this not evil? do but present it unto thy governor, will he be pleased with thee, or receive thee with favor? saith the Lord of hosts.
9 Men koulye a, chèche mande favè Bondye, pou Li kapab beni nou? Ak yon ofrann konsa, èske L ap aksepte okenn nan nou ak dousè? mande SENYÈ Dèzame yo.
And now, I pray you, beseech the presence of God that he may be gracious unto us; from your hand hath this thing come: will he receive one of you with favor? saith the Lord of hosts.
10 O ke te genyen youn nan nou pou ta fèmen pòt yo, pou nou pa ta chofe dife pou granmèsi sou lotèl Mwen an! “Mwen pa kontan avèk nou”, pale SENYÈ Dèzame yo. “Ofrann nan k ap sòti nan men nou, Mwen p ap aksepte l nonpli.
Oh that there were some one among you that would lock up the doors [of the sanctuary], that ye might not light up my altar for nought: I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts, neither will I accept in favor an offering from your hand.
11 Paske depi solèy la leve jis rive kote li kouche a, non Mwen va gran pami nasyon yo, e tout kote, lansan ak ofrann sereyal ki san tach va vin ofri a non Mwen. Paske non Mwen va gran pami nasyon yo,” pale SENYÈ Dèzame yo.
For from the rising of the sun even unto his going down my name is great among the nations; and in every place incense is burnt and there is offered unto my name, even a pure offering; for great is my name among the nations, saith the Lord of hosts.
12 “Men nou ap pwofane li lè nou di: ‘Tab SENYÈ a vin souye, fwi li, menm manje li vin meprizab.’
But ye profane it, in that ye say, The table of the Lord is polluted, and by the assertion, Its food is contemptible.
Konsa menm, nou pote ofrann nan! Èske se sa ke Mwen ta dwe aksepte nan men nou an?” pale SENYÈ a.
And ye have said, Behold, what a wearisome task is it! and ye have left it to famish, saith the Lord of hosts; and ye have brought what was robbed, and the lame, and the sick, and thus ye have brought an offering: should I accept this in favor from your hand? saith the Lord.
14 “Men malè pou sila k ap twonpe a, ki gen nan bann mouton li an, yon mal, ki fè sèman pou livre li, men ki anfen, fè sakrifis bay SENYÈ a ak yon bèt ki gen defo. Paske Mwen se yon gwo Wa,” pale SENYÈ Dèzame yo, “e non Mwen etonnan pami nasyon yo.”
But cursed be the deceiver, who hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth a corrupt thing unto the Lord; for I am a great king, saith the Lord of hosts, and my name is feared among the nations.
