< Jij 7 >

Kan Madian an te vè nò de yo menm, akote ti mòn Moreh nan vale a.
And Jerubba‘al (he [is] Gideon) rises early, and all the people who [are] with him, and they encamp by the well of Harod, and the camp of Midian has been on the south of him, on the height of Moreh, in the valley.
2 SENYÈ a te di a Gédéon: “Pèp la ki avèk ou a twòp pou M ta delivre Madian nan men yo, paske Israël ta vin ògeye, e di: ‘Se pouvwa mwen ki delivre mwen.’
And YHWH says to Gideon, “The people who [are] with you [are] too many for My giving Midian into their hand, lest Israel beautify itself against Me, saying, My hand has given salvation to me;
and now, please call in the ears of the people, saying, Whoever [is] afraid and trembling, let him turn back and go early from Mount Gilead”; and there return twenty-two thousand of the people, and ten thousand have been left.
And YHWH says to Gideon, “The people [are] yet too many; bring them down to the water, and I refine him for you there; and it has been, he of whom I say to you, This goes with you—he goes with you; and any of whom I say to you, This does not go with you—he does not go.”
5 Konsa, li te mennen pèp la desann vè dlo a. Epi SENYÈ a te di a Gédéon: “Ou va separe tout sila ki lape dlo a avèk lang yo tankou chen ak, anplis sila ki mete kò l ajenou pou bwè yo.”
And he brings the people down to the water, and YHWH says to Gideon, “Everyone who laps of the water with his tongue as the dog laps—you set him apart; also everyone who bows on his knees to drink.”
6 Alò, kantite a sila ki te lape dlo a, ki pa rale l nan men yo pou rive nan bouch yo se te twa-san lòm, e rès yo te mete yo ajenou pou bwè.
And the number of those lapping with their hand to their mouth is three hundred men, and all the rest of the people have bowed down on their knees to drink water.
7 SENYÈ a te di a Gédéon: “Mwen va delivre nou avèk twa-san lòm sila ki te lape dlo yo e yo va mete Madyanit yo nan men nou. Pou sa, kite tout lòt moun yo ale, tout moun rive lakay yo.”
And YHWH says to Gideon, “I save you by the three hundred men who are lapping, and have given Midian into your hand, and all the people go, each to his place.”
8 Konsa, twa-san lòm te pran pwovizyon a pèp la, avèk twonpèt pa yo nan men yo. Epi Gédéon te voye tout lòt mesye Israël yo chak nan pwòp tant pa yo, men te kenbe twa-san mesyè yo. Kan Madian an te anba nan vale a.
And the people take the provision in their hand, and their horns, and he has sent every man of Israel away, each to his tents; and he has kept hold on the three hundred men, and the camp of Midian has been by him at the lower part of the valley.
9 Alò, menm nwit lan, li te vin rive ke SENYÈ a te vin di li: “Leve, desann nan kan an, paske mwen te livre li nan men ou.
And it comes to pass, on that night, that YHWH says to him, “Rise, go down into the camp, for I have given it into your hand;
10 Men si ou pè desann, ale avèk Pura, sèvitè ou a, anba nan kan an.
and if you are afraid to go down—go down, you and your young man Phurah, to the camp,
11 Ou va tande kisa yo di: apre sa, men w ap vin fò pou ou kapab desann kont kan an.” Konsa, li te ale avèk Pura, sèvitè li a, anba kote avan-gad a lame ki te nan kan yo.
and you have heard what they speak, and afterward your hands are strengthened, and you have gone down against the camp.” And he goes down, he and his young man Phurah, to the extremity of the fifties who [are] in the camp;
12 Alò, Madyanit yo avèk Amalekit yo ak tout fis a lès la, te kouche nan vale a. Yo te plis an kantite pase krikèt volan, epi chamo pa yo te twòp pou konte, an gran nonb tankou grenn sab bò lanmè a.
and Midian, and Amalek, and all the sons of the east are lying in the valley, as the locust for multitude, and of their camels there is no number, as sand which [is] on the seashore for multitude.
13 Lè Gédéon te rive, veye byen, yon nonm t ap revele yon rèv a zanmi li. Li t ap di: “Gade byen, mwen te fè yon rèv; yon mòso pen lòj te tonbe antre nan kan Madian an. Li te rive nan tant lan, li te frape li pou l te tonbe, e, konsa, li te vire l tèt anba pou l kouche plat.”
And Gideon comes in, and behold, a man is recounting a dream to his companion, and says, “Behold, I have dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley-bread is turning itself over into the camp of Midian, and it comes to the tent, and strikes it, and it falls, and turns it upwards, and the tent has fallen.”
14 Zanmi li an te reponn: “Sa se pa anyen mwens ke nepe a Gédéon an, fis a Joas la, yon nonm de Israël. Bondye te mete Madian avèk tout kan an nan men li.”
And his companion answers and says, “This is nothing except the sword of Gideon son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given Midian and all the camp into his hand.”
15 Lè Gédéon te tande afè rèv la ak entèpretasyon li, li te bese an adorasyon. Li te retounen nan kan Israël la, e li te di: “Leve, paske SENYÈ a gen tan mete kan Madian an nan men nou.”
And it comes to pass, when Gideon hears the narration of the dream and its interpretation, that he bows himself, and turns back to the camp of Israel, and says, “Rise, for YHWH has given the camp of Midian into your hand.”
16 Li te divize twa-san lòm yo an twa konpayi, e li te mete twonpèt yo avèk krich vid yo nan men yo tout, avèk tòch yo anndan krich yo.
And he divides the three hundred men [into] three detachments, and puts horns into the hand of all of them, and empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.
17 Li te di yo: “Gade mwen, e fè menm bagay la. Epi veye byen, lè m rive kote bò kan an, fè menm sa ke m fè a.
And he says to them, “Look at me, and thus do; and behold, I am coming into the extremity of the camp—and it has been—as I do so you do;
18 Lè mwen avèk tout sila ki avè m yo soufle twonpèt la, alò, nou, osi, nou va soufle twonpèt yo toutotou kan an, e nou va di: ‘Pou SENYÈ a e pou Gédéon.’”
and I have blown with a horn—I and all who [are] with me, and you have blown with horns, even you, around all the camp, and have said, For YHWH and for Gideon!”
And Gideon comes—and the hundred men who [are] with him—into the extremity of the camp, [at] the beginning of the middle watch (they had just posted watchmen), and they blow with horns—also dashing in pieces the pitchers which [are] in their hand;
20 Lè twa konpayi yo te soufle twonpèt yo e kraze krich yo, yo te kenbe tòch yo nan men goch avèk twonpèt yo nan men dwat pou soufle, e yo te kriye fò: “Yon nepe pou SENYÈ a ak pou Gédéon!”
and the three detachments blow with horns, and break the pitchers, and keep hold with their left hand on the lamps, and with their right hand on the horns to blow, and they cry, “The sword of YHWH and of Gideon!”
21 Tout moun te kanpe nan plas li ki te antoure kan an, epi tout lame a te sove ale. Yo te kriye fò e yo te pran flit.
And they each stand in his place, around the camp, and all the camp runs, and they shout, and flee;
22 Lè yo te soufle twa-san twonpèt yo, SENYÈ a te mete nepe a youn kont lòt e kont tout lanmè a nèt. Konsa, lame a te sove ale jis rive nan Beth-Schitta anvè Tseréra, jis rive nan Abel-Mehola akote Tabath.
and the three hundred blow the horns, and YHWH sets the sword of each against his companion, even through all the camp; and the camp flees to Beth-Shittah, at Zererath, to the border of Abel-Meholah, by Tabbath.
23 Mesye Israël yo te rasanble sòti jis Nephtali avèk Aser ak tout Manassé, epi yo te kouri dèyè Madian.
And the men of Israel are called from Naphtali, and from Asher, and from all Manasseh, and pursue after Midian.
24 Gédéon te voye mesaje toupatou nan peyi ti kolin Éphraïm yo. Li te di: “Vin desann kont Madian e pran dlo devan yo jis rive nan Beth-Bara avèk rivyè Jourdain an!”
And Gideon has sent messengers into all the hill-country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down to meet Midian, and capture the waters from them as far as Beth-Barah, and the Jordan”; and every man of Ephraim is called, and they capture the waters as far as Beth-Barah, and the Jordan,
25 Yo te kaptire de chèf dirijan a Madian yo, Oreb avèk Zeeb. Yo te touye Oreb nan wòch Oreb la, e yo te touye Zeeb nan pez divin Zeeb la, pandan yo t ap kouri dèyè Madian. Konsa, yo te pote tèt a Oreb avèk Zeeb bay Gédéon soti lòtbò Jourdain an.
and they capture two of the heads of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb, and slay Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and they have slain Zeeb at the wine-vat of Zeeb, and they pursue into Midian; and they have brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyond the Jordan.
