< Jozye 9 >

1 Alò, lè tout wa ki te lòtbò Jourdain nan peyi kolin yo, nan peyi ba plèn ak nan tout kot Gran Lamè a bò kote Liban, Etyen an, avèk Amoreyen an, Kananeyen an, Ferezyen an Evyen an ak Jebizyen an te tande koze sa,
And it was when heard all the kings who [were] on [the] other side of the Jordan in the hill country and in the Shephelah and in all [the] coast of the sea great to [the] front of Lebanon the Hittite[s] and the Amorite[s] the Canaanite[s] the Perizzite[s] the Hivite[s] and the Jebusite[s].
2 yo te reyini ansanm avèk yon sèl bi pou goumen avèk Josué e avèk Israël.
And they gathered together all together to wage war with Joshua and with Israel mouth one.
3 Lè pèp la nan Gabaon te tande sa ke Josué te fè ak Jéricho avèk Aï,
And [the] inhabitants of Gibeon they heard [that] which he had done Joshua to Jericho and to Ai.
4 yo menm, osi, yo te aji avèk riz. Yo te pati kòm reprezantan a pèp la. Yo te mete vye makout sou bourik yo, avèk ansyen kwi diven epwize ki te chire e rekoud,
And they acted also they with cunning and they went and they acted as ambassadors and they took sacks worn out for donkeys their and skin-bottles of wine worn out and split and tied up.
5 avèk sapat ki te epwize e ranje nan pye yo, rad epwize sou yo menm avèk sèlman pen sèk e menm kanni.
And sandals worn out and patched [were] on feet their and garments worn out [were] on them and all [the] bread of provision[s] their it was dried up it was crumbs.
6 Yo te ale kote Josué nan kan an nan Guilgal, e yo te di a li menm avèk mesye Israël yo: “Nou sòti nan yon peyi byen lwen. Konsa, fè yon akò avèk nou.”
And they went to Joshua to the camp Gilgal and they said to him and to [the] man of Israel from a land distant we have come and therefore make to us a covenant.
7 Mesye Israël yo te di a Evyen yo: “Petèt ou rete touprè nou: donk, kijan nou kap fè akò avèk ou?”
(And he said *Q(K)*) [the] man of Israel to the Hivite[s] perhaps in midst my you [are] dwelling and how? (will I make *Q(k)*) to you a covenant.
8 Men yo te di Josué: “Nou se sèvitè ou.” Alò, Josué te di yo: “Ki moun nou ye e kibò nou sòti?”
And they said to Joshua [are] servants your we and he said to them Joshua who? [are] you and from where? do you come.
9 Yo te di li: “Sèvitè ou yo te sòti nan yon peyi byen lwen, akoz repitasyon a SENYÈ a, Bondye nou an; paske nou te tande rapò a Li menm ak tout sa ke Li te fè an Égypte yo,
And they said to him from a land distant very they have come servants your to [the] name of Yahweh God your for we have heard [the] report of him and all that he did in Egypt.
10 ak tout sa Li te fè a wa Amoreyen yo ki te lòtbò Jourdain an, a Sihon, wa Hesbon an ak Og, wa Basan an, ki te Ashtaroth.
And - all that he did to [the] two [the] kings of the Amorite[s] who [were] on [the] other side of the Jordan to Sihon [the] king of Heshbon and to Og [the] king of Bashan who [was] in Ashtaroth.
11 Pou sa, tout ansyen nou yo avèk tout abitan a peyi nou yo te pale nou e te di: ‘Mete pwovizyon nan men nou pou vwayaj la. Ale rankontre yo e di yo: “Nou se sèvitè ou; alò, fè yon akò avèk nou.”’
And they said to us elders our and all [the] inhabitants of land our saying take in hand your provision[s] for the journey and go to meet them and you will say to them [are] servants your we and therefore make to us a covenant.
12 Sa se pen nou e li te cho lè nou te pran li pou pwovizyon nou e sòti lakay nou nan jou ke nou te pati pou vin kote ou a, men koulye a, gade, li rasi.
This - bread our warm we took as our provisions it from homes our on [the] day came out we to come to you and now here! it has dried up and it has been crumbs.
13 Kwi diven sa yo lè nou te plen yo, yo te tounèf; epi gade, yo vin chire. Epi rad nou avèk sapat nou epwize akoz vwayaj la ki te tèlman long.”
And these [the] skin-bottles of wine which we filled new and here! they have split and these garments our and sandals our they have worn out from [the] greatness of the journey very.
14 Konsa, mesye Israël yo te aksepte pran nan pwovizyon yo, e yo pa t mande SENYÈ a konsèy.
And they took the men some of provision[s] their and [the] mouth of Yahweh not they asked.
15 Josué te fè lapè avèk yo. Li te fè yon akò avèk yo pou lese yo viv, epi dirijan kongregasyon an te sèmante yon ve ak yo.
And he made to them Joshua peace and he made to them a covenant to let live them and they swore an oath to them [the] leaders of the congregation.
16 Li te vin rive nan fen twa jou yo, lè yo te fin fè akò avèk yo, ke yo te tande ke yo te vwazen ki te rete nan peyi yo.
And it was from [the] end of three days after that they had made to them a covenant and they heard that [were] near they to him and in midst his they [were] dwelling.
17 Alò, fis Israël yo te deplase, e te vin kote vil yo a nan twazyèm jou a. Vil yo te: Gabaon, Kephira, Beéroth ak Kirjath-Jearim.
And they set out [the] people of Israel and they came to cities their on the day third and cities their [were] Gibeon and Kephirah and Beeroth and Kiriath Jearim.
18 Fis Israël yo pa t frape yo akoz dirijan kongregasyon an te sèmante a yo pa SENYÈ a, Bondye a tout Israël la. Epi tout kongregasyon an te plenyen kont dirijan yo.
And not they attacked them [the] people of Israel for they had sworn an oath to them [the] leaders of the congregation by Yahweh [the] God of Israel and they grumbled all the congregation on the leaders.
19 Men tout dirijan yo te di a tout kongregasyon an: “Nou te sèmante a yo pa SENYÈ a, Bondye Israël la. Koulye a, nou pa kapab touche yo.
And they said all the leaders to all the congregation we we have sworn an oath to them by Yahweh [the] God of Israel and therefore not we are able to touch them.
20 Men kisa nou va fè yo; kite yo viv pou kòlè pa vin sou nou pou ve ke nou sèmante a yo a.”
This we will do to them and we will let live them and not it will be towards us wrath on the oath which we swore to them.
21 Dirijan yo te di a yo menm: “Kite yo viv.” Konsa, yo te vin moun ki pou koupe bwa ak rale dlo pou tout kongregasyon an, jis jan ke dirijan yo te pale yo a.
And they said to them the leaders let them live and they were cutters of wood and drawers of water for all the congregation just as they had spoken to them the leaders.
22 Epi Josué te rele yo pou te pale avèk yo. Li te di: “Poukisa nou te twonpe nou, e di: ‘Nou lwen nou,’ lè vrèman nou ap viv nan mitan peyi nou an?
And he summoned them Joshua and he spoke to them saying why? did you deceive us saying [are] distant we from you very and you in midst our [are] dwelling.
23 Koulye a, pou sa, nou modi e nou p ap janm sispann jwe wòl kòm esklav, ni pou koupe bwa ni pou rale dlo pou kay Bondye mwen an.”
And therefore [are] cursed you and not he will be cut off from you a slave and cutters of wood and drawers of water for [the] house of God my.
24 Alò, yo te reponn Josué e te di: “Akoz li te, anverite, pale a sèvitè ou yo, jan SENYÈ a, Bondye ou a, te kòmande sèvitè li, Moïse, pou ba ou tout peyi a, e pou detwi tout pèp ki rete nan peyi a devan ou. Konsa, nou te fè gwo perèz pou lavi nou akoz de ou, e nou te fè bagay sa a.
And they answered Joshua and they said that certainly it was told to servants your this: he had commanded Yahweh God your Moses servant his to give to you all the land and to destroy all [the] inhabitants of the land from before you and we were afraid very for lives our because of you and we did the thing this.
25 Alò, gade, nou nan men ou. Fè avèk nou sa ki sanble bon e jis nan zye ou pou fè nou.”
And therefore here we [are] in hand your according to the good and according to the right in view your to do to us do.
26 Se konsa, li te fè yo, e te livre yo nan men a fis Israël yo pou yo pa t touye yo.
And he did to them thus and he delivered them from [the] hand of [the] people of Israel and not they killed them.
27 Men Josué te bay yo ransèyman soti nan menm jou sa a, kòm moun ki koupe bwa ak rale dlo pou kongregasyon an ak lotèl SENYÈ a, jis rive nan jou sila, nan plas ke Li ta chwazi a.
And he made them Joshua on the day that cutters of wood and drawers of water for the congregation and for [the] altar of Yahweh until the day this to the place which he will choose.
