< Jan 11 >
1 Alò, yon sèten mesye te malad. Lazare a Béthanie, vilaj kote Marie ak sè li Marthe te rete a.
BUT a certain man was sick, Loozar, of the village Bethania: (he was) the brother of Mariam and of Martha.
2 Se te sè Lazare, Marie ki te onksyone Senyè a avèk lwil chè a, epi te siye pye Li avèk cheve li. Se frè li, Lazare, ki te malad.
It was that Mariam who anointed with balsam the feet of Jeshu, and wiped (them) with her hair, whose brother this Loozar was who was sick.
3 Konsa, sè yo te voye kote Li pou di L: “Senyè, sila ke ou renmen an malad.”
And his two sisters sent unto Jeshu, saying, Our Lord, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 Men lè Jésus te tande sa, Li te di: “Maladi sa a se pa a lanmò, men pou glwa Bondye, pou Fis a Lòm nan kapab resevwa glwa de li.”
But Jeshu said, This sickness is not of death, but for the glory of Aloha, that the Son of Aloha may be glorified on account of it.
5 Konsa, Jésus te renmen Marthe ak sè li, ak Lazare.
But Jeshu loved Martha and Mariam and Loozar.
6 Pou sa, lè L tande ke Li te malad, Li te rete de jou anplis nan plas kote Li te ye a.
And when he heard that he was sick, he remained in the place where he was two days.
7 Apre sa, Li te di a disip Li yo: “Annou ale nan Judée ankò.”
And afterwards he saith to his disciples, Come, we will go again into Jihud.
8 Disip Li yo te di Li: “Rabbi, fenk koulye a Jwif yo t ap eseye lapide Ou, epi W ap prale la ankò?”
His disciples say to him, Raban, now have the Jihudoyee sought to stone thee; and again goest thou thither?
9 Jésus te reponn yo: “Èske pa gen douz è de tan nan yon jounen? Si yon moun mache nan lajounen a li p ap chape tonbe, paske li wè limyè a mond sila a.
Jeshu saith to them, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world;
10 Men si yon moun mache lannwit, l ap tonbe, paske limyè a pa nan li.”
but if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because no light is in him.
11 Sa, Li te di, epi apre sa, Li te di yo: “Zanmi nou Lazare gen tan tonbe nan dòmi. Men m ap prale pou M ka fè l leve nan dòmi.”
These spake Jeshu; and afterwards he said to them, Loozar our friend reposeth; but I go to awake him.
12 Konsa, disip Li yo te di L: “Senyè, si li tonbe nan dòmi, l ap refè.”
His disciples say to him, Our Lord, if he sleep he is healed.
13 Alò Jésus t ap pale de lanmò Li, men yo te konprann ke Li t ap pale de yon vrè dòmi.
But Jeshu spake concerning his death; and they thought that concerning the repose of sleep he spake.
14 Pou sa, Jésus te di yo byen klè: “Lazare gen tan mouri,
Then said Jeshu to them explicatively, Loozar is dead.
15 e pou koz pa nou, Mwen kontan ke M pa t la pou nou kapab kwè. Annou ale kote l.”
And I am glad I was not there for your sakes, that you may believe. But let us walk thither.
16 Pou sa, Thomas, ke yo rele osi Didyme, te di disip parèy li yo: “Annou ale avèk Li pou nou kapab mouri avè L.”
Thoma, who is called the Twin, saith to his fellow-disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
17 Konsa, lè Jésus te vini, Li te twouve ke Li te deja nan tonm nan depi kat jou.
And Jeshu came to Bethania, and found that he had been four days in the house of burial.
18 Béthanie te prè Jérusalem. Anviwon twa kilomèt distans.
Now Bethania was nigh to Urishlem, being a distance from it of about fifteen stadia.
19 Anpil nan Jwif yo te deja vin kote Marthe ak Marie pou konsole yo konsènan frè yo.
And many of the Jihudoyee had come to Martha and Mariam, that they might speak to their hearts concerning their brother.
20 Pou sa, lè Marthe te tande ke Jésus t ap vini, li te ale rankontre Li. Men Marie te toujou chita nan kay la.
Then Martha, when she heard that Jeshu had come, went forth to meet him; but Mariam sat in the house.
21 Konsa, Marthe te di a Jésus: “Senyè, si Ou te la, frè m nan pa t ap mouri.
And Martha said to Jeshu, My Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 Menm koulye a, mwen konnen ke nenpòt bagay ke Ou mande Bondye, Bondye ap bay Ou li.”
But even now know I that whatsoever thou wilt ask of Aloha, he giveth to thee.
23 Jésus te di li: “Frè ou ap leve ankò.”
Jeshu saith to her, Thy brother ariseth.
24 Marthe te reponn Li: “Mwen konnen ke li ap leve ankò nan rezirèksyon an nan dènye jou a.”
Martha saith to him, I know that he ariseth in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Jésus te reponn Li: “Mwen se rezirèksyon an ak lavi a. Moun ki kwè nan Mwen va viv, menm si li mouri.
Jeshu saith to her, I am the Resurrection and the Life; and (he) who believeth in me, although he will die, shall live.
26 E tout moun ki viv e kwè nan Mwen, p ap janm mouri. Èske ou kwè sa?” (aiōn )
And every one who liveth and believeth in me, for ever shall not die. Believest thou this? (aiōn )
27 Li te di Li: “Wi, Senyè, Mwen gen tan kwè ke Ou se Kris la, Fis a Bondye, menm Li menm ki vini nan mond lan.”
She saith to him, Yes, my Lord; I believe that thou art the Meshicha, the Son of Aloha, who cometh into the world.
28 Lè li te di sa, li te ale, e te rele Marie, sè li, e te di l apa: “Mèt la rive, e L ap mande pou ou.”
And when she had said these, she went, called Mariam her sister in secret, and said to her, Our Master hath come, and calleth for thee.
29 E lè li tande sa, li te leve vit, epi t ap vin kote Li.
When Mariam heard, she arose quickly, and came to him.
30 Jésus poko te rive nan bouk la, men te toujou nan plas kote Marthe te rankontre Li a.
But Jeshu himself had not yet come into the village, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 Jwif yo ki t ap konsole li nan kay la te wè l leve vit e sòti. Epi yo sipoze ke li t ap ale nan tonm nan pou kriye.
But those Jihudoyee who were also with her in the house to console her, when they saw that Mariam rose up hastily to go forth, went themselves after her; for they thought that to the sepulchre she went to weep.
32 Konsa, lè Marie te vini kote Jésus, li te tonbe nan pye Li, e te di L: “Senyè, si Ou te isit la, frè m nan pa t ap mouri.”
But she, Mariam, when she was come where Jeshu was, and saw him, fell down at his feet, saying, If thou hadst been here, my Lord, my brother had not died.
33 Konsa, lè Jésus te wè l t ap kriye, epi Jwif ki te avè l yo t ap kriye, Li te vrèman etone nan fon lespri Li, e te twouble.
But Jeshu, when he saw her weeping, and those Jihudoyee who came with her weeping, he was moved in his spirit, and was troubled,
34 Li te di: “Kibò nou mete Li?” Yo te di Li: “Senyè, vin wè.”
and said, Where have you laid him? And they said to him, Our Lord, come and see.
And the tears of Jeshu came.
36 E Jwif yo t ap di: “Gade kijan Li te renmen l.”
And the Jihudoyee said, See how he loved him!
37 Men kèk nan yo te di: “Èske nonm sila a ki te louvri zye a sa ki te avèg la, pa t kab anpeche moun sa a mouri osi?”
But some of them said, Could not this who opened the eyes of that blind have caused also that this should not have died?
38 Pou sa, Jésus, ankò, etone byen fon nan lespri li, te vin bò kote tonm nan. Se te yon kav e yon wòch te apiye sou Li.
Jeshu, groaning within himself, came to the house of burial; and that house of burial was a cave, and a stone was laid at the gate of it.
39 Jésus te di: “Retire wòch la.” Marthe, sè mò a te di Li: “Senyè, pou lè sa, li va santi. Li la depi kat jou.”
And Jeshu said, Take up this stone. Martha, the sister of him (who was) dead, saith to him, My Lord, he now stinketh; for four days are to him.
40 Jésus te di li: “Èske Mwen pa t di ou ke si Ou kwè, ou va wè glwa Bondye?”
Jeshu said to her, Said I not to thee, that if thou wilt believe, thou shalt see the glory of Aloha?
41 Epi konsa, yo te retire wòch la. Jésus te leve zye Li e te di: “Papa, Mwen remèsye Ou ke Ou tande M.
And they took up the stone. And Jeshu lifted his eye upward, and said, Father, I give thanks to thee that thou hast heard me;
42 Mwen te konnen ke Ou tande M tout tan, men akoz pèp la ki kanpe antoure M, Mwen te di sa, pou yo kapab kwè ke Ou te voye Mwen.”
and I know that at all times thou hearest me: yet, because of this assembly which standeth, I say these (words), that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 Lè L fin te di bagay sa yo, Li te kriye avèk yon gwo vwa: “Lazare, sòti deyò.”
And when he had said these (words), he cried with a high voice, Loozar, come without!
44 E sila ki te mouri an te sòti byen mare men ak pye yo avèk twal ki te vlope l, e yon twal ki te vlope figi li. Jésus te di yo: “Demare l epi lage l.”
And he, the dead, came forth, his hands and his feet being bound with bandages, and his face in a linen cloth. Jeshu saith to them, Release him, and let (him) go.
45 Pou sa, anpil nan sa ki te vin kote Marie yo, e ki te wè sa Li te fè a, te kwè nan Li.
And many of the Jihudoyee who came with Mariam, when they saw the thing which Jeshu did, believed on him.
46 Men kèk nan yo te ale nan Farizyen yo e te di yo sa ke Jésus te fè a.
And some of them went to the Pharishee, and told them every thing that Jeshu had done.
47 Konsa, chèf prèt yo avèk Farizyen yo te konvoke yon gran konsèy. Yo t ap di: “Kisa n ap fè, pwiske nonm sila a ap fè anpil sign.”
AND the chief priests and Pharishee assembled, and said, What shall we do? because this man doeth many signs;
48 “Si nou kite Li kontinye konsa, tout moun ap kwè nan Li, epi Women yo ap vin pran ni plas nou, ni nasyon nou.”
and if we leave him thus, all men will believe on him, and the Rumoyee, coming, take away our country and our people.
49 Men youn nan yo, Caïphe, ki te granprèt pou lane sila a, te di yo: “Nou pa konnen anyen,
But one of them, whose name was Kaiapha, was the high priest of that year; and he said to them, You know not any thing,
50 ni nou pa kontwole ke li ta meyè pou nou si yon moun ta mouri pou pèp la, pou tout nasyon an pa peri.”
nor reason that it is expedient for us that one man die for the people, and not all the people perish.
51 Alò li pa t di sa pou kont li, men akoz ke li te wo prèt nan lane sa a, li t ap fè pwofesi ke Jésus t ap mouri pou nasyon an.
But this from himself he spake not, but because he was high priest of that year, he prophesied that Jeshu should die for the people,
52 E pa sèlman pou nasyon sila a, men ke Li ta kab ranmase ansanm pou fè yon sèl, tout pitit Bondye ki te gaye a letranje yo.
and not only for (that) people, but also that the children of Aloha who are dispersed he should gather into one.
53 Depi jou sa, yo t ap fè plan pou touye L.
And from that day they determined to kill him.
54 Pou sa, Jésus pa t ankò mache an piblik pami Jwif yo, men te kite la pou ale nan peyi toupre dezè a, nan yon vil yo rele Éphraïm. Li te rete la avèk disip Li yo.
But Jeshu himself walked not openly among the Jihudoyee, but went from thence to the region near the wilderness, to a region which was called Ephrem, and there conversed with his disciples.
55 Alò, Pak Jwif la te pwòch, epi anpil te kite andwa andeyò yo pou monte nan Jérusalem, pou yo ta kab vin pirifye.
NOW the petscha of the Jihudoyee drew nigh; and many went up from the country places to Urishlem before the festival, to purify themselves.
56 Konsa, yo t ap di youn ak lòt pandan yo kanpe nan tanp lan: “Kisa nou panse. Èske Li p ap menm vini nan fèt la?”
And they sought for Jeshu, and said one to another in the temple, What think you, that he cometh to the feast?
57 Alò, chèf prèt yo ak Farizyen yo te bay lòd pou si nenpòt moun te konnen kote Li te ye, yo dwe bay rapò pou yo ta kab sezi L.
But the chief priests and Pharishee had commanded that if any man knew where (he was), he should declare it to them, as that they might apprehend him.
