< Jòb 22 >
1 Epi Éliphaz, Temanit lan, te reponn:
Then answered Eliphaz the Themanite, and said,
2 “Èske yon nonm plen kouraj kapab itil a Bondye? Byen klè yon nonm saj se itil a pwòp tèt li.
Can a man be serviceable unto God? Truly the intelligent is serviceable unto himself.
3 Èske Toupwisan an pran plezi nan ladwati ou, oswa twouve pwofi si chemen ou yo san fot?
Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that thou art righteous? or is it any gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?
Is it out of fear of thee that he will reproach thee? or go with thee into judgment?
Is not thy evil great? and no end to thy iniquities?
6 Paske ou te pran garanti a frè ou yo san koz e te menm retire rad pa yo jis yo vin toutouni.
For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brothers for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
7 A moun fatige yo, ou pa t bay dlo pou bwè e a grangou yo, ou te refize yo pen.
Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and from the hungry thou hast withholden bread.
8 Men posede tè a se pou nonm ki pwisan an, e se moun entèg ki viv ladann.
But as for the man of a strong arm, he obtained the land, and the highly honored could dwell therein.
9 Ou te voye vèv yo ale men vid e te kraze fòs a òfelen yo.
Widows hast thou sent away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
Therefore are snares round about thee, and sudden dread terrifieth thee.
Or seest thou not the darkness? and the abundance of water which covereth thee?
12 “Èske Bondye pa nan wotè syèl la? Menm anplis, gade zetwal byen lwen yo; kijan yo wo!
Is not God in the height of heaven? and beholding the highest elevation of the stars, however high they are?
13 Ou di: ‘Kisa Bondye konnen? Èske Li kab jije nan fènwa pwofon an?
But thou sayest, “What doth God know? can he judge behind the darkness?
Thick clouds are a covering for him, so that he will not see; and he walketh along on the circle of heaven.”
15 Èske ou va kenbe ansyen chemen a, kote mesye mechan yo te mache,
Wilt thou [thus] observe the path of ancient times which the men of injustice have trodden?
Who were shrivelled up before their time, whose foundation was flooded away like a river;
17 Yo te di a Bondye: ‘Kite nou!’, Epi: ‘Kisa Toupwisan an kab fè pou nou?’
Who said unto God, “'Depart from us:” and what wrought the Almighty for them?
18 Sepandan, Li te ranpli lakay yo ak bon bagay; men konsèy a mechan yo lwen m.
And yet it was he that filled their houses with good things; but the counsel of the wicked be [still] far from me.
19 Moun ladwati yo wè, yo fè kè kontan. Inosan yo moke yo.
The righteous will see it, and be glad; and the innocent will laugh them to scorn.
20 Yo di: ‘Anverite, advèsè nou yo koupe retire nèt. E dife a fin manje retay yo.’
“Is not he destroyed that rose up against us, and hath not the fire consumed what they had left?”
21 “Vin konnen L depi koulye a e fè lapè avè L; se konsa, sa ki bon va rive kote ou.
Do but become acquainted with him, and be at peace: thereby will happiness come unto thee.
22 Souple, resevwa enstriksyon nan bouch Li e etabli pawòl Li yo nan kè ou.
Do but accept instruction from his mouth, and lay up his saying in thy heart.
23 Si ou retounen bò kote Toupwisan an, ou va restore, si ou retire inikite a byen lwen tant ou.
If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, so thou wilt but remove wrong-doing far away from thy tents.
24 Mete riches ou nan pousyè a, lò Ophir a pami wòch kouran dlo yo.
And throw down in the dust precious metals, and [the gold of] Ophir to the stones of the brooks:
25 Alò, se Toupwisan an ki va riches ou, e pi bèl ajan pou ou.
Then will the Almighty be thy precious metal, and brightly-shining silver unto thee.
26 Paske konsa ou va rejwi nan Toupwisan an, e leve figi ou vè Bondye.
For then wilt thou have in the Almighty thy delight, and thou canst lift up unto God thy face.
27 Ou va priye a Li menm, e Li va tande ou. Ou va peye ve ou yo.
Thou wilt make entreaty unto him, and he will hear thee, and thy vows wilt thou pay.
28 Anplis, ou va fè yon dekrè e li va etabli pou ou; konsa limyè va briye sou wout ou.
And if thou decree a thing, it will be fulfilled unto thee; and upon thy ways the light will shine.
29 Lè ou santi ou vin ba, alò ou va pale ak konfyans, e moun ki enb lan, Li va sove li.
For when men are brought low, thou wilt say, Pride [hath done it]; but those of lowly eyes [God] will help.
He will even deliver him who is not guiltless: and thou wilt be delivered by the purity of thy hands.
