< Jòb 20 >
1 Epi Tsophar, Naamatit lan, te reponn:
Then Sophar the Minaean answered and said,
2 “Akoz sa a, tout refleksyon k ap boulvèse m yo, fè m fè repons, menm akoz tout anndan m tèlman ajite.
I did not suppose that you would answer thus: neither do you understand more than I.
3 Mwen tande repwòch ki fè m wont. Konsa, lespri bon konprann mwen fè m reponn.
I will hear my shameful reproach; and the spirit of my understanding answers me.
4 Èske ou pa konnen bagay sa a depi nan tan ansyen an, depi lòm te mete sou latè,
Hast you [not] known these things of old, from the time that man was set upon the earth?
5 Ke viktwa a mechan yo kout, e jwa a enkwayan an se pou yon moman?
But the mirth of the ungodly is a signal downfall, and the joy of transgressors is destruction:
6 Malgre wotè li ta rive nan syèl la, pou tèt li ta touche nwaj yo,
although his gifts should go up to heaven, and his sacrifice reach the clouds.
7 l ap peri nèt tankou fatra. Sila ki te konn wè li yo va di: ‘Kibò li ye?’
For when he shall seem to be now established, then he shall utterly perish: and they that knew him shall say, Where is he?
8 Li vole ale tankou yon rèv, e yo pa kab jwenn li. Menm tankou yon rèv lannwit, li fin chase ale.
Like a dream that has fled away, he shall not be found; and he has fled like a vision of the night.
9 Zye ki te wè l la pa wè l ankò, e plas li a pa gade li ankò.
The eye has looked upon him, but shall not [see him] again; and his place shall no longer perceive him.
10 Fis li yo fè byen pou malere yo, e men yo remèt byen li yo.
Let [his] inferiors destroy his children, and let his hands kindle the fire of sorrow.
11 Zo li yo plen ak fòs jenès li, men li kouche ansanm avè l nan pousyè a.
His bones have been filled with [vigour of] his youth, and it shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 “Sepandan, mechanste dous nan bouch li e li kache li anba lang li,
Though evil be sweet in his mouth, [though] he will hide it under his tongue;
13 Li pito mal la, e refize lage l, men kenbe li nan bouch li,
though he will not spare it, and will not leave it, but will keep it in the midst of his throat:
14 men manje nan vant li vire. Li tounen pwazon vipè anndan l.
yet he shall not at all be able to help himself; the gall of an asp is in his belly.
15 Li te vale richès, men vomi fè yo retounen vin parèt. Bondye va fè yo sòti nan vant li.
[His] wealth unjustly collected shall be vomited up; a messenger [of wrath] shall drag him out of his house.
16 Li souse pwazon koulèv yo; lang a vipè a kap touye li.
And let him suck the poison of serpents, and let the serpent's tongue kill him.
17 Li pa gade dlo yo ankò, ni rivyè ki koule yo ak siwo ak bòl lèt yo.
Let him not see the milk of the pastures, nor the supplies of honey and butter.
18 Li remèt sa ke li te pran an. Li pa kab vale l. Afè richès a komès li yo, li pa kab menm rejwi de yo.
He has laboured unprofitably and in vain, [for] wealth of which he shall not taste: [it is] as a lean thing, unfit for food, which he can’t swallow.
19 Paske li te oprime e abandone malere yo. Li te sezi yon kay ke li pa t bati.
For he has broken down the houses of many mighty men: and he has plundered an habitation, though he built [it] not.
20 “Akoz li pa t kab kalme kè l, li pat kab kenbe anyen nan sa li renmen.
There is no security to his possessions; he shall not be saved by his desire.
21 Anyen pat rete ke li pat devore; akoz sa a, byen li yo pat dire.
There is nothing remaining of his provisions; therefore his goods shall not flourish.
22 Ranpli ak tout bagay li, li va jennen; men a tout moun ki soufri yo va vini kont li.
But when he shall seem to be just satisfied, he shall be straitened; and all distress shall come upon him.
23 Lè li plen vant li, Bondye va voye kòlè fewòs pa Li sou li. Lapli va tonbe sou li pandan l ap manje.
If by any means he would fill his belly, let [God] send upon him the fury of wrath; let him bring a torrent of pains upon him.
24 Li kapab sove ale devan zam fèt ak fè a, men banza fèt an bwonz lan va tire frennen l.
And he shall by no means escape from the power of the sword; let the brazen bow wound him.
25 L ap rale sòti parèt dèyè do li, menm pwent glise a soti nan fyèl li. Gwo laperèz va parèt sou li.
And let the arrow pierce through his body; and let the stars be against his dwelling-place: let terrors come upon him.
26 Fènwa nèt rezève kon trezò li, e flanm dife san van an va devore li. Li va manje tout sa ki rete nan tant li an.
And let all darkness wait for him: a fire that burns not out shall consume him; and let a stranger plague his house.
27 Syèl yo va revele inikite li e tè a va leve kont li.
And let the heaven reveal his iniquities, and the earth rise up against him.
28 Riches lakay li va pati, posesyon li yo va ale nan jou kòlè Li a.
Let destruction bring his house to an end; let a day of wrath come upon him.
29 Sa se pòsyon a moun mechan k ap sòti nan men Bondye, sa se eritaj ke Bondye òdone pou bay li.”
This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord, and the possession of his goods [appointed him] by the all-seeing [God].
