< Oze 2 >

1 “Di a frè ou a ‘Pèp mwen yo’! Epi a sè ou yo, ‘Byen ame mwen an!’
Say ye unto your brethren, O Ammi ["O my people"], and unto your sisters, O Ruhamah ["O compassionated one"]:
2 Rebike manman ou! Rebike, paske li pa madanm mwen; ni mwen pa mari li. Kite li retire pwostitisyon li yo devan figi li, ak adiltè li yo soti antre tete li yo;
Contend ye with your mother, contend, for she is no wife of mine, and I am no husband of hers, Let her then put away her paramours from before her, and her partners in adultery, from her embraces:
3 sinon M ta chire retire tout rad li pou fè l parèt toutouni menm jan ak jou li te fèt la; pou fè l vin tankou yon peyi dezè e touye li ak swaf.
Lest I strip off her under-clothing, and set her forth to view, as in the day she was born, —and make her like a wilderness, and render her like a land that is parched, and suffer her to die of thirst;
4 Anplis, Mwen p ap fè mizerikòd sou pitit li yo, akoz yo se pitit a pwostitiye.
And, on her children, not have compassion, —because, the children of paramours, they are.
5 Paske manman yo te fè pwostitisyon. Li ki te fè yo aji san wont, paske li te di: ‘Mwen va swiv moun ki renmen mwen yo, ki ban m pen ak dlo mwen, lenn ak len mwen, lwil ak bwason mwen.’
For their mother, hath been unchaste, and she that conceived them, hath caused shame, —for she said, Let me go after my lovers! who used to give my bread, and my water, my wool, and my flax, mine oil, and my drink.
6 Akoz sa, Mwen va fè monte yon kloti pikan, e Mwen va bati yon mi kont li pou l pa ka twouve ti wout li yo.
Therefore, behold me! hedging up her way, with thorns, —and I will wall her in, and, her footpaths, shall she not find.
7 Li va kouri dèyè moun ki renmen li yo, men li p ap ka rive sou yo. Li va chache yo, men li p ap jwenn yo. Konsa li va di: ‘M ap prale retounen kote premye mari Mwen an, paske lè sa a te pi bon pou mwen pase koulye a.’
And, when she shall pursue her lovers, and not overtake them, and shall seek them and not find, then will she say, Let me go my way now! and return unto my first husband, for it was better with me, then, than, now!
8 Paske li pa t konnen ke se te Mwen ki te bay li sereyal la, diven nèf ak lwil la, e ki te bay li anpil lò ak ajan ke yo te fè sèvi pou Baal yo.
But, she, owneth not, that, I, gave her—the corn, and the new wine and the oil, —silver, also increased I unto her, and gold—[which] they offered to Baal!
9 Akoz sa, Mwen va reprann sereyal Mwen an nan lè rekòlt la ak diven Mwen an nan sezon li an. Mwen va, anplis, retire lenn Mwen an ak len Ki te pou kouvri pou li pa t toutouni an.
Therefore, will I again take away my corn, in the time thereof, and my new wine, in the season thereof, —and will recover my wool and my flax [given] to hide her shame.
10 Konsa, Mwen va dekouvri wont li devan zye a tout moun ki renmen li yo, e pèsòn p ap mande fè l soti nan men Mwen.
Now, therefore, will I expose her unseemliness, before the eyes of her lovers, —and no, man, shall deliver her out of my hand!
11 Anplis, Mwen va mete fen a tout kè kontan l; fèt li yo, nouvèl lin li yo, Saba a, ak tout Gwo rasanbleman fèt li yo.
And I will cause to cease all her mirth, her pilgrim-festival, her new moon and her sabbath, —and her every appointed meeting;
12 Mwen va detwi pye rezen li yo ansanm ak pye fig fwi etranje yo selon sila li te di: ‘Sa yo se salè mwen, ke moun ki renmen m yo te ban mwen.’ Mwen va fè yo tounen yon rakbwa, e bèt chan va devore yo.
And will lay waste her vine and her fig- tree, as to which she hath said, A present, are they for myself, which my lovers, have given me, —and I will make of them a thicket, and the wild beasts of the field shall devour them.
13 Mwen va pini li pou jou Baal yo, kote li te brile lasan nan, lè l te abiye tèt li ak zanno ak bijou yo, pou l swiv moun ki renmen li yo, epi tebliye Mwen” deklare SENYÈ a.
So will I visit upon her the days of the Baals, unto whom she used to burn incense, and decked herself with her nose-ring and her jewelry, and went her way after her lovers, —whereas, me, she forgat, Declareth Yahweh.
14 Pou sa, gade byen, Mwen va atire li mennen li antre nan dezè a pou pale dous avèk li.
Therefore, lo! I, am going to persuade her, and, though I conduct her forth into wilderness, yet will I speak unto her heart.
15 Epi soti la, Mwen va bay li chan rezen yo, ak Vale Akò a kon yon pòt espwa. Li va reponn la tankou nan jou jenès li yo, tankou nan jou lè l te vin monte soti nan peyi Égypte la.
Then will I give to her her vineyards from thence, and the vale of Achor ["trouble"] for a door of hope, —and she will respond there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
16 Li va vin rive nan jou sa a”, deklare SENYÈ a, “ke ou va rele Mwen: ‘Mari mwen’ e ou p ap rele M ankò: ‘Met mwen’.
And it shall come to pass, in that day, Declareth Yahweh, that she will call me Ishi ["My husband"], and will not call me any more, Baali ["Mine owner"].
17 Paske Mwen va retire non a Baal yo soti nan bouch li, pou yo pa nonmen pa non yo ankò.
So will I take away the names of the Baals, out of her mouth, —and they shall not be called to mind any more, by their name.
18 Nan jou sa a, anplis, Mwen va fè yon Akò pou yo ak bèt chan yo, zwazo syèl yo ak sa ki trennen atè yo. Mwen va aboli banza, nepe ak lagè soti nant peyi a, e Mwen va fè yo kouche dòmi ansekirite.
And I will solemnize to them a covenant, in that day, with the wild-beast of the field, and with the bird of the heavens, and the creeping thing of the ground, —and, bow and sword and battle, will I break in pieces out of the land, so will I cause them to lie down, in security.
19 Mwen va fè ou vin renmen M jis pou tout tan. Wi, Mwen va fè ou vin renmen M nan ladwati ak lajistis, nan lanmou dous ak konpasyon.
And I will take thee unto myself, unto times age-abiding, —yea I will take thee unto myself, in righteousness and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in abounding compassion:
20 Epi Mwen va fè ou renmen M nan fidelite. Nan lè sa a, ou va konnen SENYÈ a.
Yea I will take thee unto myself, in faithfulness, —So shalt thou know Yahweh.
21 “Li va vin rive nan jou sa a ke Mwen va reponn”, deklare SENYÈ a. “Mwen va reponn a syèl yo, e yo va reponn a tè a.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will respond, Declareth Yahweh, I will respond to the heavens, —and, they, shall respond to the earth;
22 Epi Latè va reponn a sereyal la, diven nèf ak lwil la; epi yo va reponn a Jizreel.
And, the earth, shall respond to the corn, and to the new wine and to the oil, —and, they, shall respond to Jezreel ["Whom GOD scattereth," "Whom GOD soweth"].
23 Mwen va simen li kote M nan tè a, Mwen va genyen mizerikòd pou li, fi ki pa t konn jwenn mizerikòd la. Konsa, Mwen va di a sila ki pa t pèp Mwen an: ‘Ou se pèp Mwen an!’ Epi yo va reponn: ‘Ou se Bondye mwen!’”
So will I sow her unto me in the land, and will have compassion upon the uncompassionated one ["Lo-ruhamah"], —and will say to him who was No-people-of-mine ["Lo-ammi"], My people, thou art, and, he, shall say, My God!
