< Jenèz 16 >
1 Alò, Saraï, madanm Abram nan pa t bay li pitit. Li te gen yon sèvant Ejipsyen ki te rele Agar.
And Sarai, Abram’s wife, has not borne to him, and she has a handmaid, an Egyptian, and her name [is] Hagar;
2 Konsa, Saraï te di Abram: “Alò, gade byen, SENYÈ a te anpeche m fè pitit. Souple, al jwenn sèvant mwen an. Petèt mwen kapab vin gen pitit pa li menm.” Epi Abram te koute vwa a Saraï.
and Sarai says to Abram, “Now behold, YHWH has restrained me from bearing, please go in to my handmaid; perhaps I am built up from her”; and Abram listens to the voice of Sarai.
3 Apre Abram te viv dis lane nan peyi Canaan, madanm Abram nan, Saraï te pran Agar, sèvant Ejipsyen li an, e te bay li a mari li Abram kòm madanm li.
And Sarai, Abram’s wife, takes Hagar the Egyptian, her handmaid, at the end of the tenth year of Abram’s dwelling in the land of Canaan, and gives her to her husband Abram—to him for a wife,
4 Li te al jwenn Agar, li te vin ansent, epi lè l te wè ke li te ansent, mètrès li a te vin meprize nan zye li.
and he goes in to Hagar, and she conceives, and she sees that she has conceived, and her mistress is lightly esteemed in her eyes.
5 Konsa, Saraï te di Abram: “Se ou ki gen tò nan bagay sa a. Mwen te bay sèvant mwen an pou li antre nan bra ou, e lè l te wè ke li te vin ansent, mwen te vin meprize nan zye li. Ke SENYÈ a jije antre ou menm avèk mwen.”
And Sarai says to Abram, “My violence [is] for you; I have given my handmaid into your bosom, and she sees that she has conceived, and I am lightly esteemed in her eyes; YHWH judges between me and you.”
6 Men Abram te di a Saraï: “Gade byen, sèvant ou anba pouvwa ou. Fè sa ke ou wè ki bon nan zye ou avèk li.” Pou sa, Saraï te rèd avèk li, e li te pran sove ale kite prezans li.
And Abram says to Sarai, “Behold, your handmaid [is] in your hand, do to her that which is good in your eyes”; and Sarai afflicted her, and she flees from her presence.
7 Alò zanj lan te twouve li akote yon sous dlo nan savann nan, vè sous la nan wout chemen ki ale Schur la.
And the Messenger of YHWH finds her by the fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way [to] Shur,
8 Li te di a Agar, sèvant Saraï a, “Kibò ou sòti, e kibò ou prale?” Epi li te di: “M ap sove ale kite prezans mètrès mwen an, Saraï.”
and He says, “Hagar, Sarai’s handmaid, from where have you come, and to where do you go?” And she says, “From the presence of Sarai, my mistress, I am fleeing.”
9 Epi zanj SENYÈ a te di li: “Retounen bò kote mètrès ou, e soumèt ou anba otorite l.”
And the Messenger of YHWH says to her, “Return to your mistress, and humble yourself under her hands”;
10 Plis ke sa, zanj SENYÈ a te di li: “Mwen va miltipliye desandan ou yo anpil pou yo vin twòp pou konte.”
and the Messenger of YHWH says to her, “Multiplying I multiply your seed, and it is not numbered from multitude”;
11 Zanj SENYÈ a te di li anplis: “Byen gade, ou ansent, e ou va fè yon fis. Epi ou va rele non li Ismaël ki vle di Bondye tande, akoz SENYÈ a te okipe afliksyon ou yo.
and the Messenger of YHWH says to her, “Behold you [are] conceiving, and bearing a son, and have called his name Ishmael, for YHWH has listened to your affliction;
12 Li va yon nonm tankou bourik mawon. Men li va kont tout moun, e men a tout moun va kont li. Epi li va viv yon jan ki kont tout frè li yo.”
and he is a wild-donkey man, his hand against everyone, and everyone’s hand against him—and before the face of all his brothers he dwells.”
13 Epi li te rele non SENYÈ a ki te pale avèk li: “Ou se yon Bondye ki wè a”, paske li te di: “Èske m ap vrèman rete vivan isit lè m fin wè Li”?
And she calls the Name of YHWH who is speaking to her, “You [are], O God, my beholder”; for she said, “Even here have I looked behind my beholder?”
14 Pou sa, pwi a te rele Lachaï-roi. Gade byen, li la antre Kadès ak Bared.
Therefore has one called the well, “The well of the Living One, my beholder”; behold, between Kadesh and Bered.
15 Alò, Agar te fè yon fis pou Abram. E Abram te rele fis li a, ke Agar te fè a, Ismaël.
And Hagar bears a son to Abram; and Abram calls the name of his son, whom Hagar has borne, Ishmael;
16 Abram te gen katre-ven-sis ane lè Agar te fè Ismaël pou li a.
and Abram [is] a son of eighty-six years in Hagar’s bearing Ishmael to Abram.
