< Jenèz 15 >
1 Apre bagay sa yo, pawòl SENYÈ a te vin kote Abram nan yon vizyon. Li te di: “Pa pè, Abram, Mwen se yon pwotèj pou ou. Rekonpans ou va gran.”
After these things Davar Yahweh [Word of He sustains breathing] came to Avram [Exalted father] in a vision, saying, “Don’t be afraid, Avram [Exalted father]. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
2 Abram te di: “O Senyè BONDYE, kisa ou va ban mwen, akoz ke m san pitit, e eritye lakay mwen se Eliézer a Danmas?”
Avram [Exalted father] said, “'Adonay Adonai [Lord Yahweh], what will you give me, since I go childless, and he who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus [Bucket of blood]?”
Avram [Exalted father] said, “Behold, to me you have given no children: and, behold, one born in my house is my heir.”
4 Alò, gade byen, pawòl SENYÈ a te vin kote li. Li te di l: “Se pa nonm sa k ap eritye ou, men youn ki va sòti nan pwòp kò ou, se li ki va eritye ou.”
Behold, Adonai’s word came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir, but he who will come out of your own body will be your heir.”
Adonai brought him outside, and said, “Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” He said to Avram [Exalted father], “So will your offspring be.”
He trusted in Adonai, who credited it to him for righteousness.
He said to Avram [Exalted father], “I am Adonai who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give you this land to inherit it.”
8 Abram te di: “O Senyè BONDYE, kijan mwen kapab konnen ke m ap genyen l vrè?”
He said, “'Adonay Adonai [Lord Yahweh], how will I know that I will inherit it?”
9 Alò li te di li: “Pote ban mwen yon gazèl twazan, yon femèl kabrit twzan, yon mal mouton nan twzan, yon toutrèl, avèk yon jenn pijon.”
He said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”
10 Li te pote bay li tout sa yo, e li te koupe yo an de moso. Li te poze mwatye yo chak fasafas ak lòt, men li pa t koupe zwazo yo.
He brought him all these, and divided them in the middle, and laid each half opposite the other; but he didn’t divide the birds.
The birds of prey came down on the carcasses, and Avram [Exalted father] drove them away.
12 Alò, lè solèy la t ap desann, yon gran rèv te tonbe sou Abram. Epi gade byen, yon gwo tenèb ak gran perèz te vin tonbe sou li.
When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Avram [Exalted father]. Now terror and great darkness fell on him.
13 Bondye te di Abram: “Konnen byen si ke desandan ou yo va etranje nan yon peyi ki pa pou yo, kote yo va vin esklav, e va oprime pandan kat-san ane.
He said to Avram [Exalted father], “Know for sure that your offspring will live as foreigners in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them. They will afflict them four hundred years.
14 Men mwen va osi jije nasyon ke yo va sèvi a, e apre yo va sòti deyò avèk anpil byen.
I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve. Afterward they will come out with great wealth,
15 Men pou ou menm, ou va ale vè zansèt ou yo anpè. Ou va antere nan yon laj byen avanse.
but you will go to your fathers in peace. You will be buried at a good old age.
16 Alò, nan katriyèm jenerasyon yo va retounen isit la, paske inikite Amoreyen yo poko fini.”
In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the depravity (moral evil) of the Amorite [Descendants of Talkers] is not yet full.”
17 Li vin rive ke lè solèy la te fin desann, ke li te fènwa anpil, e gade byen, te parèt yon tòch k ap fè lafimen avèk yon flanbo te pase antre mòso sa yo.
It came to pass that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold, a smoking furnace, and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.
18 Nan jou sa a, SENYÈ a te fè yon akò avèk Abram. Li te di: “A desandan ou yo, Mwen va bay peyi sa a, depi nan larivyè Égypte la, jis rive nan gran rivyè a, larivyè Euphrate,
In that day Adonai made a covenant ·binding contract between two or more parties· with Avram [Exalted father], saying, “I have given this land to your offspring, from the river of Egypt [Abode of slavery] to the great river, the river Euphrates [Fruitful]:
19 peyi a Kenyen yo, Kenizyen yo, Kadmonyen yo,
the Kenites [Descendants of Acquisition], the Kenezites [Descendants of Purchase], the Kadmonites [Descendants of Ancients, Chiefs],
20 Itit yo, Ferezyen yo, Rephaïm yo,
the Hittites [Descendants of Trembling fear], the Perizzites [Descendants of Belonging to village], the Rephaim [Descendants of Terrible one],
21 Amoreyen yo, Kanaaneyen yo, Gigachyen yo, avèk Jebisyen yo.”
the Amorites [Descendants of Talkers], the Canaanites [Descendants of Humbled], the Girgashites [Descendants of Who arrives from pilgrimage], and the Jebusites [Descendants of Thresher].”
