< Ezekyèl 33 >
1 Konsa, pawòl SENYÈ a te rive kote mwen. Li te di:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 “Fis a lòm, pale a fis a pèp ou yo pou di yo: ‘Si Mwen mennen nepe sou yon peyi, e pèp peyi a pran yon nonm soti pami yo pou fè li gadyen yo,
Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and you shall say to them, On whatever land I shall bring a sword, and the people of the land take one man of them, and set him for their watchman:
3 epi lè li wè nepe a ap vini sou peyi a, li soufle sou twonpèt pou avèti moun yo,
and he shall see the sword coming upon the land, and blow the trumpet, and sound an alarm to the people;
4 men sila ki tande son twonpèt la pa okipe l, e nepe a rive pran l, mennen l ale, san li ap tonbe sou pwòp tèt li.
and he that hears the sound of the trumpet shall hear [indeed], and [yet] not take heed, and the sword shall come upon him, and overtake him, his blood shall be upon his [own] head.
5 Li te tande son twonpèt la men li pa t okipe l. San li va sou tèt li. Men si li te okipe sa a, li t ap sove lavi li.
Because he heard the sound of the trumpet, and took no heed, his blood shall be upon him: but the other, because he took heed, has delivered his soul.
6 Men si gadyen an wè nepe a ap vini, e li pa sonnen twonpèt la, moun yo pa avèti, e nepe a rive retire nenpòt moun pami yo, moun nan soti nan inikite li. Men san li, Mwen va egzije sa a nan men gadyen an.’
But if the watchman see the sword coming, and do not sound the trumpet, and the people do not watch; and the sword come, and take a soul from among them, that [soul] is taken because of its iniquity; but the blood [thereof] will I require at the watchman's hand.
7 “Alò, pou ou menm, fis a lòm, Mwen te chwazi ou kon gadyen pou lakay Israël. Konsa, ou va tande yon mesaj soti nan bouch Mwen pou avèti yo pou Mwen.
And you, son of man, I have set you [as] a watchman to the house of Israel, and you shall hear a word from my mouth.
8 Lè M di a mechan an: ‘O nonm mechan anverite ou va mouri’, men ou pa pale pou avèti e detounen mechan an pou l ka kite chemen mechan li an, nonm mechan sa a va mouri nan inikite li, men san li, Mwen va egzije sa nan men ou.
When I say to the sinner, You shall surely die; [if] you speak not to warn the wicked from his way, the wicked himself shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at your hand.
9 Men si ou, bò kote pa ou, ou avèti yon nonm mechan pou vire kite chemen li, e li pa vire kite chemen li an, li va mouri nan inikite li, men ou delivre lavi ou.
But if you forewarn the wicked of his way to turn from it, and he turn not from his way, he shall die in his ungodliness; but you have delivered your own soul.
10 “Alò, pou ou, fis a lòm, pale ak lakay Israël: ‘Pale konsa e di: “Anverite, transgresyon nou yo ak peche nou yo, sou nou, e nou ap pouri ladan yo. Donk kòman nou ka viv?”’
And you, son of man, say to the house of Israel; Thus have you spoken, saying, Our errors, and our iniquities weigh upon us, and we pine away in them, and how then shall we live?
11 Pale ak yo: ‘“Jan Mwen viv la,” deklare Senyè BONDYE a: “Mwen pa pran plezi nan lanmò a mechan yo, men pito pou mechan an vire kite chemen li an pou li viv. Retounen, retounen kite chemen mechan nou yo! Poukisa konsa ou ta mouri, O lakay Israël?”’
Say to them, Thus says the Lord; [As] I live, I desire not the death of the ungodly, as that the ungodly should turn from his way and live: turn you heartily from your way; for why will you die, O house of Israel?
12 “Epi ou menm, fis a lòm, di a sitwayen parèy ou yo: ‘Ladwati a yon nonm dwat p ap ka delivre li nan jou transgresyon li. E mechanste a mechan an, li p ap tonbe akoz li, si li vire kite mechanste a. Ni yon nonm dwati p ap ka viv sou ladwati li nan jou ke li vin fè peche a.’
Say to the children of your people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him, in the day wherein he errs: and the iniquity of the ungodly shall not harm him, in the day wherein he turns from his iniquity, but the righteous [erring] shall not be able to deliver himself.
13 Lè Mwen di a nonm dwat la ke, anverite, li va viv la, e li tèlman kwè nan ladwati li pou li komèt inikite, okenn nan zèv dwat li yo p ap vin sonje; men nan menm inikite sa ke li te fè a, li va mouri.
When I say to the righteous, [You shall live; and] he trusts in his righteousness, and shall commit iniquity, none of his righteousnesses shall be remembered; in his unrighteousness which he has wrought, in it shall he die.
14 Men lè Mwen di a mechan an: “Anverite, ou va mouri,” e li vire kite peche li, pou vin pratike lajistis ak ladwati,
And when I say to the ungodly, You shall surely die; and he shall turn from his sin, and do judgment and justice,
15 si yon nonm mechan vin remèt sa li te pwomèt pou bay, remèt sa li te pran nan vòlè, mache nan règleman ki bay lavi san ke li pa komèt inikite, li va anverite viv. Li p ap mouri.
and return the pledge, and repay that which he has robbed, [and] walk in the ordinances of life, so as to do no wrong; he shall surely live, and shall not die.
16 Okenn nan peche ke li te komèt yo p ap vin sonje kont li. Li pratike lajistis ak ladwati. Anverite, li va viv.
None of his sins which he has committed shall be remembered: because he has wrought judgment and righteousness; by them shall he live.
17 “‘Malgre sa, sitwayen parèy ou yo di: “Chemen Senyè a pa dwat,” men se pwòp chemen pa yo ki pa dwat la.
Yet the children of your people will say, The way of the Lord is not straight: whereas this their way is not straight.
18 Lè moun ladwati a kite ladwati pou komèt inikite, alò, li va mouri ladann.
When the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and shall commit iniquities, then shall he die in them.
19 Men lè mechan an vire kite mechanste li an pou vin pratike lajistis ak ladwati, li va viv ladan yo.
And when the sinner turns from his iniquity, and shall do judgment and righteousness, he shall live by them.
20 Men nou di: “Chemen SENYÈ a pa jis”. O lakay Israël, Mwen va jije nou chak selon chemen nou.’”
And this is that which you said, The way of the Lord is [not] straight. I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one for his ways.
21 Alò, nan douzyèm ane egzil nou an, nan senkyèm jou nan dizyèm mwa a, yon moun ki te chape Jérusalem te vin kote mwen. Li te di: “Yo fin pran vil la.”
And it came to pass in the tenth year of our captivity, in the twelfth month, on the fifth [day] of the month, [that] one that had escaped from Jerusalem came to me, saying, The city is taken.
Now the hand of the Lord had come upon me in the evening, before he came; and he opened my mouth, when he came to me in the morning: and my mouth was open, it was no longer kept closed.
23 Epi pawòl SENYÈ a te vin kote mwen. Li te di:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
24 “Fis a lòm, sila kirete kote dezole sa yo nan peyi Israël ap di: ‘Abraham se te yon sèl, malgre sa, li te posede tè a. Men nou menm anpil. Peyi a te donnen a nou.’
Son of man, they that inhabit the desolate [places] on the land of Israel say, Abram was one, and he possessed the land: and we are more numerous; to us the land is given for a possession.
25 Pou sa, pale yo: ‘Konsa pale Senyè BONDYE a: “Nou manje vyann ak san ladann; nou leve zye nou vè zidòl yo pandan n ap vèse san. Èske konsa, nou ta dwe vin posede peyi a?
26 Nou mete konfyans nou nan nepe nou, nou komèt zak abominab, e nou tout souye madanm a vwazen nou. Èske konsa, nou ta dwe posede peyi a?”’
27 “Konsa ou va pale ak yo: ‘Konsa pale Senyè BONDYE a: “Jan Mwen viv la, anverite, sila ki nan savann yo va tonbe pa nepe. Nenpòt moun ki nan chan ouvri a, Mwen va bay li a bèt sovaj pou devore li, e sila ki nan sitadèl ak nan kav yo, yo va mouri akoz ensèk ak gwo maladi.
Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God, [As] I live, surely they that are in the desolate places shall fall by swords and they that are in the open plain shall be given for food to the wild beasts of the field, and them that are in the fortified [cities] and them that are in the caves I will kill with pestilence.
28 Mwen va fè tè a vin dezole jis pou l etonnen moun. Ògèy a pouvwa li a va sispann. Mòn Israël yo va vin dezole jiskaske pèsòn p ap travèse yo.
And I will make the land desert, and the pride of her strength shall perish; and the mountains of Israel shall be made desolate by reason of no man passing through.
29 Konsa yo va konnen ke Mwen se SENYÈ a, lè M fè peyi a vin yon dezolasyon ak yon dezè akoz tout zak abominab ke yo te komèt yo.”’
And they shall know that I am the Lord; and I will make their land desert, and it shall be made desolate because of all their abominations which they have wrought.
30 “Men pou ou menm, fis a lòm, sitwayen parèy ou yo ap pale de ou. Akote miray yo ak nan pòtay kay yo, y ap pale youn a lòt, yo chak a frè yo pou di: ‘Vini koulye a pou tande mesaj sila ki sòti nan SENYÈ a.’
And [as for] you, son of man, the children of your people are they that speak concerning you by the walls, and in the porches of the houses, and they talk one to another, saying, Let us come together, and let us hear the [words] that proceed from the Lord.
31 Yo vin kote ou jan moun konn vini. Yo chita devan ou tankou pèp Mwen an pou yo tande pawòl ou. Men yo pa fè yo. Paske nan bouch, yo renmen, men kè yo ap kouri dèyè pwòp benifis pa yo.
They approach you as a people comes together, and sit before you, and hear your words, but they will not do them: for [there is] falsehood in their mouth, and their heart [goes] after their pollutions.
32 Gade byen, ou vin pou yo tankou yon chan sansyèl ki chante pa yon moun ak yon bèl vwa, byen jwe sou enstriman. Paske yo tande pawòl ou yo, men yo pa pratike yo.
And you are to them as a sound of a sweet, well-tuned lute, and they will hear your words, but they will not do them.
33 “Pou sa, lè a rive—gade byen, li va rive—alò, yo va konnen ke yon pwofèt te la nan mitan yo.”
But whenever it shall come [to pass], they will say, Behold, it is come: and they shall know that there was a prophet in the midst of them.
