< Ezekyèl 31 >
1 Nan onzyèm ane, nan twazyèm mwa, nan premye nan mwa a, pawòl SENYÈ a te vin kote mwen. Li te di:
On the first day of the third month of the eleventh year, a message from the Lord came to me, saying,
2 “Fis a lòm, pale a Farawon, wa Égypte la, ak gwo foul lame li yo: ‘Ak kilès ou sanble nan grandè ou?
“Son of man, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt and all his many people: Who is as great as you?
3 Gade byen, Assyrie te yon pye sèd nan Liban. Branch li yo te bèl nan lonbraj forè a, e byen wo. Tèt li te rive pami nwaj yo.
Look at Assyria. It was like a cedar in Lebanon, with its beautiful branches providing shade in the forest. It was so high that its top reached the clouds.
4 Dlo te fè l grandi, pwofondè te fè li wo. Ak rivyè li yo, li te tout tan ap vin elaji lizyè li toupatou. Li te voye kanal li yo nan tout pyebwa chan yo.
Deep springs of water made it grow tall and sent streams all around it to water all the other trees.
5 Akoz sa, wotè li te piwo ke tout pyebwa chan yo, e branch li yo te vin anpil e byen long akoz anpil dlo ki te fè l gaye yo.
It became really tall, higher than any other tree in the forest. Its branches grew thick and long because it was so well-watered.
6 Tout zwazo syèl yo te fè nich nan branch li yo. Anba branch sila yo, tout bèt chan yo te vin fè pitit. Tout gran nasyon yo te vin rete anba lonbraj li.
All kinds of birds nested in its branches, while underneath it different wild animals had their young, and all the powerful nations lived in its shade.
7 Konsa, li te bèl nan grandè li, nan longè branch li yo; paske rasin li te lonje rive kote anpil dlo.
It was beautiful and majestic with its long branches, because its roots reached down to the plentiful water.
8 Pye sèd nan jaden Bondye yo pa t ka egal ak li. Pye sipre yo pa t ka gen branch tankou l, ni pa t gen lòt bwa ki konpare ak branch li yo. Menm bwa pen an pa t gen branch kon li. Pa t gen pyebwa nan jaden Bondye yo ki ta ka parèy li nan bèlte.
The cedars in God's garden were no match for it. No pine tree had such great branches, nor did any plane tree. No tree in God's garden was as beautiful.
9 Mwen te fè l bèl ak fòs kantite branch li yo, e tout pyebwa Éden yo te jalou devan l.’
I made it beautiful with its many branches. All the trees of Eden in God's garden envied it.
10 “Akoz sa, pale Senyè BONDYE a: ‘Akoz li byenwo nan wotè l, te mete tèt li rive pami nwaj yo, e kè l te awogan nan wotè li,
So this is what the Lord God says: Since it became so tall, reaching up into the clouds, it grew proud because of its height.
11 pou sa, Mwen va livre li nan men a pi pwisan an a nasyon yo. Li va regle sa nèt. Selon mechanste li, konsa Mwen te chase li.
So I handed it over to the leader of a foreign nation who will punish it for its wickedness. I have thrown it out.
12 Etranje yo, pi pwisan a nasyon yo, te koupe li a tè e te kite li. Sou mòn yo e nan tout vale yo, branch li yo te vin tonbe, e gwo branch li yo te vin kase nan tout ravin peyi yo. Konsa, tout pèp sou latè yo te desann kite lonbraj li e te menm kite li.
Foreigners from the cruelest of all the nations chopped it down and left it lying there. Its branches lie fallen and broken in the mountains and valleys of the countryside. Everybody in earth came out of its shadow and abandoned it.
13 Nan gwo dega li yo, tout zwazo syèl yo va vin demere e tout bèt chan yo va sou branch pa l ki tonbe,
Birds came to live on its fallen trunk, and wild animals hid among its fallen branches.
14 pou tout pyebwa akote dlo yo pa ka vin leve tèt yo wo nan wotè yo. Pwisan pa yo p ap mete tèt yo pami nwaj yo, menm sa yo akote sous dlo yo pa ka kanpe dwat nan wotè yo. Paske yo tout te livre a lanmò, pou rive anba tè pami fis a lòm yo, ak sila ki desann nan twou fòs yo.’
This was in order that no other trees growing by the water would grow up so high and have their tops reach the clouds. This was so that no other trees, however much water they had, would be as tall as them, For they all will die and go down into earth, just like human beings who go down into the grave.
15 “Konsa pale Senyè BONDYE a: ‘Nan jou ke li te desann nan sejou mò yo, Mwen te koze lamantasyon. Mwen te fèmen pwofondè a sou li epi te bouche rivyè li yo. Epi anpil dlo li yo Mwen te vin bouche nèt. Mwen te fè Liban kriye ak gwo doulè pou li e tout pyebwa nan chan yo te vin fennen akoz li. (Sheol )
This is what the Lord God says: On the day it was brought down to Sheol, I had the deep waters mourn for it; I stopped its rivers flowing; I held back all its waters. I covered Lebanon in darkness, and all the trees in the forest withered. (Sheol )
16 Mwen te fè tout nasyon yo tranble nan son a chit li a, lè M t ap fè l desann nan sejou mò yo ak sila ki desann nan twou fòs yo. Tout pyebwa byen wouze Liban yo, pi byen chwazi ak pi meyè a Liban yo, te vin rekonfòte anba tè. (Sheol )
I made the nations tremble when they heard it fall, when I threw it down into Sheol with those who die. Then all the trees of Eden, the finest and best in Lebanon, all the trees that had plenty of water, were happy that this tree joined them in the earth below. (Sheol )
17 Yo menm tou te desann avè l nan sejou mò yo akote sila ki te touye pa nepe yo. Epi sila ki te fòs li yo, te rete anba lonbraj li pami nasyon yo. (Sheol )
They also went down with it into Sheol, to those who had been killed by the sword. They had been part of its army living in its shade among the nations. (Sheol )
18 “‘A kilès nan pyebwa Éden yo ou egal konsa nan glwa ak grandè? Malgre sa, ou va vin desann ak pyebwa Éden yo jis rive anba tè. Ou va vin kouche nan mitan ensikonsi yo, avèk sila ki te touye pa nepe yo. “‘Se konsa Farawon va ye ak tout gwo foul lame li yo!” deklare Senyè BONDYE a.”
Who is as great and glorious as you among the trees of Eden? But you too will be brought down to the earth below to be with the trees of Eden. You will lie there with the heathen, with those killed by the sword. This is what will happen to Pharaoh and all his many people, declares the Lord God.”
