< 1 Samyèl 24 >
1 Alò, lè Saül te retounen kouri dèyè Filisten yo, yo te pale l e te di: “Gade byen, David nan dezè En-Guédi a.”
And it came to pass, when Saul had returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying: Lo! David is in the wilderness of En-gedi.
2 Alò, Saül te pran twa mil òm, byen chwazi soti nan tout Israël pou te ale chache David avèk mesye pa li yo devan Wòch a Kabrit Mawon yo.
Then Saul took three thousand chosen men, out of all Israel, —and went to seek David and his men, over the face of the rocks of the mountain-goats.
And he came into the sheep-folds by the way, there, being a cave, which Saul entered, to cover his feet, —David and his men, in the hinder part of the cave, having taken up their abode.
4 Mesye a David yo te di a li menm: “Gade byen, men jou ke SENYÈ a te di ou a: ‘Gade byen, Mwen prèt pou livre lènmi ou an nan men ou, e ou va fè a li menm sa ki sanble bon pou ou’”. Alò David te leve e san fè bwi, te koupe arebò manto a Saül la.
So David’s men said unto him—Lo! the day of which Yahweh said unto thee—Lo! I am about to deliver up thine enemy, into thy hand: therefore shall thou do unto him, as shall be good in thine eyes. And David arose, and cut off the corner of the robe which belonged to Saul, by stealth.
5 Li te vin rive apre ke konsyans David te twouble li, akoz li te koupe arebò a manto Saül la.
And it came to pass afterwards that David’s heart smote him, —because he had cut off the corner [of the robe] which belonged to Saul.
6 Epi li te di a mesye pa li yo: “Se lwen de mwen ke akoz SENYÈ a, mwen ta fè bagay sa a mèt mwen an, onksyone a SENYÈ a, pou m ta lonje men m kont li; akoz li se yon onksyone pa SENYÈ a.”
And he said unto his men—Far be it from me, of Yahweh, that I should do this thing unto my lord, unto the Anointed of Yahweh, to thrust forth my hand against him, —for, the Anointed of Yahweh, is he!
So David did chide his men with the words, and did not suffer them to rise up against Saul. And, Saul, rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
Li te rele Saül e te di: “Mèt mwen, Wa a!” Epi lè Saül te gade dèyè li. David te bese avèk figi li atè e te fè kò l kouche nèt.
Then David rose up, afterwards, and went forth out of the cave, and cried out after Saul, saying—My lord, O king! And, when Saul looked about behind him, David inclined his face to the earth, and bowed himself down.
9 David te di a Saül: “Poukisa ou koute pawòl a moun k ap di: ‘Gade byen, David ap chache fè ou mal!’?
Then said David to Saul, Wherefore shouldst thou hearken unto the words of the sons of earth, saying, —Lo! David is seeking thy hurt?
10 Gade byen, jou sa a zye ou gen tan wè ke SENYÈ a te livre ou nan men m nan kav la. E kèk moun te di m touye ou, men zye m te gen pitye pou ou. Konsa mwen te di: ‘Mwen p ap lonje men m kont mèt mwen an, paske li se yon onksyone a SENYÈ a.’
Lo! this day, have thine own eyes seen, how Yahweh had delivered thee up, to-day, into my hand in the cave, and, when one bade me slay thee, I looked with compassion upon thee, —and I said—I will not thrust forth my hand against my lord, for, the Anointed of Yahweh, is he!
11 Koulye a, papa mwen, gade! Anverite, gade arebò a manto ou ki nan men m nan! Paske akoz ke m te koupe arebò manto ou a e ke m pa t touye ou, konnen e byen konprann ke nanpwen mal, ni rebelyon nan men m pou m pa t fè peche kont ou, malgre ke ou ap kache tann pou pran lavi m.
But, my father, see, yea, see, the corner of thy robe in my hand, —for, in that I cut off the corner of thy robe, and yet did not slay thee, know thou, and see, that there is not in my hand either wrong or transgression, neither have I sinned against thee, yet art thou hunting my life, to take it.
12 Ke SENYÈ a kapab jije antre ou menm avèk mwen e ke SENYÈ a ta pran vanjans mwen sou ou; men se pa men m k ap kont ou.
Let Yahweh do justice betwixt me and thee, and let Yahweh avenge me of thee, —but, mine own hand, shall not be upon thee.
13 Tankou pwovèb a ansyen yo di: ‘Nan mechan an, mechanste sòti!’ Men se pa men mwen k ap kont ou.
As saith the proverb of the ancients, From the lawless, proceedeth lawlessness, —mine own hand, therefore shall not be upon thee.
14 Apre kilès wa Israël la vin sòti? Kilès k ap pouswiv ou? Yon chen mouri oubyen yon grenn pis?
After whom, hath the king of Israel come forth? After whom, art thou in pursuit? After a dead dog! after a single flea!
Epi ke Li wè, Li plede ka m nan, e Li delivre mwen soti nan men ou.”
Therefore shall, Yahweh, become, judge, and do justice betwixt me and thee, —that he may see, and plead my cause, and justly deliver me out of thy hand.
And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Thy voice, is this, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
17 Li te di a David: “Ou pi jis pase m; paske ou te aji byen avè m, pandan mwen te aji mal avè w.
And he said unto David, More righteous, art thou than I, for, thou, hast requited me, good, but, I, have requited thee, evil.
18 Ou te deklare jodi a byen ke ou te fè m! Ke SENYÈ a te livre mwen nan men ou, men ou pa t touye mwen.
Thou, then, hast told to-day, how thou hast dealt with me, for good, —how, when Yahweh had surrendered me into thy hand, thou didst not slay me.
Yet, when a man findeth his enemy, will he let him get easily away? Yahweh, then, give thee, good, reward for what, this day, thou hast done unto me.
20 Alò, gade byen, mwen konnen asireman, ke ou va devni wa e ke wayòm Israël la va vin etabli nan men ou.
Now, therefore, lo! I know that thou, shalt indeed become king, —and that the kingdom of Israel, shall be established in thy hand.
21 Pou sa, sèmante a mwen menm pa SENYÈ a pou ou pa retire desandan apre mwen yo e pou ou pa detwi non mwen soti lakay papa m.”
Now, therefore, swear unto me by Yahweh, that thou wilt not eat off my seed, after me, —and wilt not destroy my name out of the house my father.
22 David te sèmante konsa a Saül, e Saül te ale lakay li. Men David avèk mesye pa li yo te monte nan fò a.
So David sware unto Saul, —and Saul departed unto his own house, but, David and his men, went up on the stronghold.
