< 1 Istwa 15 >
1 Alò, David te bati kay pou li menm nan lavil David. Epi li te prepare yon plas pou lach Bondye a e te monte yon tant pou li.
David [commanded his workers to] build some houses for him in Jerusalem. He also told them to set up a tent in which to put the Sacred Chest.
2 Alò, David te di: “Pèsòn pa pou pote lach Bondye a sof ke Levit yo, paske SENYÈ a te chwazi yo pou pote lach Bondye a e pou fè sèvis a Li pou tout tan.”
He said, “Only the descendants of Levi are permitted to carry God’s Sacred Chest, because they are the ones whom God chose to carry it and to serve him forever.”
3 Konsa, David te rasanble tout Israël Jérusalem pou pote fè monte lach Bondye a nan plas ke li te prepare pou li a.
David summoned all the people of Israel to come to Jerusalem. He wanted the Sacred Chest of Yahweh to be put in the place that he had made for it.
4 David te rasanble tout fis a Aaron yo ak Levit yo:
He summoned the descendants of Aaron, [who was the first Supreme Priest, ] and the other descendants of Levi.
5 Fis a Kehath yo, Uriel, chèf avèk frè li yo ak san-ven nan moun fanmi li yo;
120 descendants of Kohath, who was Levi’s second son, came, with Uriel their leader.
6 fis a Merari yo, Asaja, chèf la ak de-san-ven nan fanmi pa li yo;
There were 220 descendants of Merari, Levi’s third son, who came, with Asaiah their leader.
7 nan fis a Guerschom yo, Joël, chèf la ak san-trant nan fanmi pa li yo;
There were 130 descendants of Gershon, Levi’s first son, who came, with Joel their leader.
8 nan fis a Élitsaphan yo, Schemaeja, chèf la ak de-san nan fanmi pa li yo;
There were 200 people from Elizaphan’s clan who came, with Shemaiah their leader.
9 nan fis a Hébron yo, Éliel, chèf la ak katre-ven mesye nan fanmi pa li yo;
There were 80 people from Hebron’s clan who came, with Eliel their leader.
10 nan fis a Uziel yo, Amminadab, chèf la ak san-douz mesye nan fanmi pa li yo.
And there were 112 people from Uzziel’s clan who came, with Amminadab their leader.
11 Alò, David te rele Tsadok ak Abiathar, prèt yo ak Levit yo, Uriel, Asaja, Joël, Schemaeja, Éliel ak Amminadab.
David summoned the priests Zadok and Abiathar and these [other] descendants of Levi: Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.
12 Li te di yo: “Nou se chèf lakay zansèt nou yo pou Levit yo. Konsakre nou menm, ni nou, ni manm fanmi pa nou, pou nou kapab pote fè monte lach SENYÈ a, Bondye Israël la, rive nan plas ke m te prepare pou li a.
David said to them, “You are the leaders of the clans descended from Levi. You and the other descendants of Levi must purify yourselves, in order to [be able to do this special work for Yahweh. You must] bring the Sacred Chest of Yahweh, the God of us Israelis, up to the place that I have made for it [here in Jerusalem].
13 Akoz nou pa t pote l nan kòmansman an, SENYÈ a, Bondye pa nou an, te fè yon sèl pete sou nou, paske nou pa t chache Li selon règ li yo.”
The first time that we tried to bring it, we did not ask Yahweh how we should carry it {it should be carried}. You [descendants of Levi] were not the ones who carried it, so Yahweh our God punished us.”
14 Pou sa, prèt yo avèk Levit yo te konsakre yo menm pou pote fè monte lach SENYÈ a, Bondye Israël la.
Then the priests and the [other] descendants of Levi [performed the rituals to] purify themselves, in order that it would be proper for them to do the work of carrying the Sacred Chest of Yahweh, the God of us Israeli people.
15 Fis Levit yo te pote lach Bondye a sou zepòl pa yo avèk poto ki tache ladann, kon Moïse te kòmande yo pa pawòl SENYÈ a.
The descendants of Levi [inserted] the poles [into the rings on] the Sacred Chest so that with them, they could carry the Sacred Chest on their shoulders, like Moses had commanded, and like Yahweh had said that they should.
16 Epi David te pale avèk chèf Levit yo, pou dispoze fanmi pa yo, chantè yo, avèk lenstriman mizik yo, ap yo, gita yo, senbal ki sonnen fò yo, pou fè leve kri lajwa yo.
David told the leaders of the descendants of Levi to appoint some of their relatives to sing joyful songs and play lyres, harps, and cymbals [while they were carrying the Sacred Chest].
17 Konsa, Levit yo te chwazi Héman, fis a Joël la e soti nan fanmi pa li a, Asaph, fis a Bérékia a; epi soti nan fis a Merari yo avèk fanmi pa yo, Éthan, fis a Kuschaja a;
So they appointed Heman and his relatives Asaph and Ethan. Heman was the son of Joel; Asaph was the son of Berekiah. Ethan, a descendant of Merari, was Kushaiah’s son.
18 epi avèk yo, fanmi a dezyèm nivo a, Zacharie, Ben, Jaaziel, Schemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Éliab, Benaja, Maaséja, Matthithja, Éliphelé, avèk Miknéja, ak pòtè yo, Obed-Édom avèk Jeïel, gadyen pòt yo.
There was also another group of descendants of Levi who were appointed: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and two of the Sacred Tent gatekeepers, Obed-Edom and Jeiel.
19 Konsa chantè yo, Héman, Asaph ak Éthan pou fè sonnen senbal bwonz yo;
Heman, Asaph and Ethan sang, and also played bronze cymbals.
20 epi Zacharie, Aziel, Schemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Éliab, Maaséja ak Benaja avèk ap ki te fè son selon Alamòt la;
Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah played lyres.
21 epi Matthithia, Éliphelé, Miknéia, Obed-Édom, Jeïel avèk Azazia, pou pran avan avèk ap uit kòd pou kondwi chan an.
Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel and Azaziah played harps.
22 Kenania, chèf Levit yo, te an chaj chante a. Li te bay enstriksyon nan chante a paske li te fò.
Kenaniah, the leader of the descendants of Levi, directed the singing because he was very skilled at doing that.
23 Bérékia avèk Elkana te gadyen pòtay pou lach la.
Berekiah and Elkanah were two of the men who guarded the Sacred Chest.
24 Schebania, Josaphat, Nethaneel, Amasaï, Zacharie, Benaja ak Éliézer, prèt yo te soufle twonpèt yo devan lach a Bondye a. Obed-Édom avèk Jechitja te gadyen pòtay lach la.
The priests Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer were appointed to blow trumpets in front of the Sacred Chest. Obed-Edom and Jehiah also guarded the Sacred Chest.
25 Konsa David, avèk lansyen Israël yo, avèk kapitèn a dè milye yo, te ale pou pote fè monte lach akò SENYÈ a soti lakay Obed-Édom nan mitan yon gran rejwisans.
David and the Israeli leaders and the officers who commanded 1,000 soldiers went to bring the Sacred Chest back from Obed-Edom’s house. They were very joyful as they brought it to Jerusalem.
26 Akoz Bondye t ap ede Levit ki t ap pote lach akò SENYÈ yo, yo te fè sakrifis sèt towo ak sèt belye.
God helped the descendants of Levi who carried the Sacred Chest of Yahweh; therefore David and the leaders sacrificed seven bulls and seven (rams/male sheep) [to thank him].
27 Alò, David te abiye avèk yon manto len fen, menm avèk tout Levit ki t ap pote lach la, e chantè yo avèk Kenania, chèf mizik pami chantè yo. Epi David te abiye osi ak yon efòd an len.
All the descendants of Levi who carried the Sacred Chest, all the singers, and Kenaniah, the man who directed those who sang, wore robes of fine white linen and sacred vests made of fine linen. David also wore a sacred vest made of white linen.
28 Konsa, tout Israël te pote monte lach akò SENYÈ a avèk gwo kri, avèk son a kòn soufle, avèk twonpèt, avèk gwo bwi a senbal, avèk ap ak gita.
So all of the Israeli people joined in bringing the Sacred Chest up [to Jerusalem]. They shouted [joyfully, while the musicians] blew horns and trumpets, and played cymbals, lyres, and harps.
29 Li te rive lè lach akò SENYÈ a te vini nan vil David la, ke Mical, fi a Saül la, te gade deyò fenèt la e te wè Wa David t ap vòltije e selebre. Konsa, li te meprize li nan kè l.
While they were bringing the Sacred Chest into Jerusalem, Saul’s daughter Michal watched them, looking out of a window. When she saw King David dancing and celebrating, she despised him.
